  1. We have two friends (both D+couples) onboard the Indy and one has sent an email to me with information w/r to the "trial".

Here are excerpts from today's email:

" I thought I would write a quick e-mail to let you know how the drinks fiasco is going....... basically what's happened is that the Diamond members are using the Olive or Twist as their overflow lounge (in the past it was always the overflow for Diamond plus, Pinnacles and Suites). They have wedged open the door of the diamond lounge, people queue for their drinks then take them to their seats. All the hot and cold canapes are in the olive or twist so anyone on the ship can eat them and in fact no one asks to see your card so they can in effect get drinks for anyone ....... If you arent in concierge by 4.15 pm (or diamond lounge), you won't get a seat. Its been bedlam. Anyway, the hotel director had a big pow wow with Miami yesterday afternoon and came up to tell us all the results of the meeting. As a help, miami has said that the Cloud 9 and card room will be opened for diamond plus and pinnacles as an overflow. Howefer, miami want the trial to continue til the end of the cruise just to get more data. The bottom line is, the loyalty programme is costing them too much so they are looking for a solution. Believe me, we have all made our views known. Its now up to everyone to 'lobby' Adam Goldstein and crown and anchor to ensure they know we arent happy."

So far the information, I cannot answer any related questions-sorry.

  2. ........And that has gradually been eliminated again and no one seems to mind since they now have a DL. I personally miss the Diamond breakfast. I liked having a full hot breakfast with specialty coffee in the MDR. We had it last on Vision just prior to her dry dock. I'll be it's gone now that they CL and DL are installed. We'll find out soon, I'm sure.

    Gina

Now, you have to walk to DL/CL before breakfast, get your specialty coffee from the machine than proceed aft to the MDR for breakfast, stand in waiting line for 10 minutes or so during peak hour (that's what happened to us the last 2 weeks on Splendour) and -have a nice breakfast with eggs and lukewarm specialty coffee from the paper cup .....

  3. I'm not sure if everyone realises but this is not just about the 3 drinks in any bar around the ship. That is just a smoke screen , what we will be losing is the overflow lounges for the Diamond and Concierge lounges.

As I'm sure you all know,

normally when there is a large number of Diamond and above on board they open the Olive & Twist or the Pyramid lounges (on the Indy) to accommodate the large numbers.

Well we will be losing that and be restricted to the small Diamond lounge or Concierge lounge and 3 drinks per night in the normal ships bars.

Sorry guys this is just another cost cutting exercise by Royals finance department.

    Dave

    (Diamond plus)

Hmm, interesting point. So chair hogging might start at 2p.m. in the D&C lounges for the 5p.m. social hour? With 700+ Diamond/D+/Pinnacles on TAs, bar stool hogging starts at - lets say- 3p.m. in the various bars onboard:D

Present "status" deck chair hoggers truly have an unfair advantage over late risers. They know all the book/towel/sunscreen and whatever tricks and apply them with slight variations to Dl/CL and bars.....

  4.

the Dubrovnik card. It’s valid for 24 hours and you can ride any bus during that time, walk the walls for free and visit a ton of different museums, also for free. And you could buy it in Euros online even cheaper than in port.

Stef, I checked the website, but could only find the price for the card in Kuna.

Where did you get it in Euro ?

  5. Well Bob, what is your answer to that please?: Currently at 346 points. Next cruises are b2b each 7 days. So during the first leg we reach 350, but it is too late to choose the 2nd amenity online (their regulations say 5 days before departure to be submitted online) for the second , qualifying leg. Besides- I guess RCCL website will take some 1-2 weeks to be updated , showing our > 350 points.

  6. Those were the fares last year (end of September - beginning of October 2012) - from the airport to the Cruise Terminal/ Port area:

    Airport Shuttle - (504) 522-3500:

Kiosks in the baggage area of the airport, walk up service. $20 per person one way.

    Airport Limousine - (504) 305-2450:

Kiosks in the baggage area of the airport, walk up service. Rates start at $58 for one or two (2) passengers.

Taxis - Flat fee of $35 for the first two persons, $12 per person for three or more, plus a $1 fuel surcharge per trip (not passenger).

    Thanks for the update

  7. Thanx for all answers, but-----I still do not get it with my very first cruises credit points. Does the following RCCL-picture makes sense? (I am missing 7 points, which have been taken away in June, and nobody knows at RCCL why! It has to do with the 2 very first cruises shown here.)
