  1. There should be some indication that deck 15 does not fully connect.  I can’t tell you how many people took the front elevators to deck 15 wanting to go the the rooftop garden but got trapped because the only accessible area is the retreat.  You need to go up or down one level and then walk over.  Other than that I think the ship was well marked as to which direction to go.

I honestly can’t think of anything else to complain about...well maybe the bed...I prefer something softer.  A lot of comments on CC (not necessarily this thread) are more about personal tastes and the ship will wow some and turn off others.  We liked the specialty dining set up and hope they don’t change that. Perhaps it’s because the music volume was adjusted by the time we got there based on feedback but we felt like it was pleasant background music.

We loved the jogging track!  So much better than that short lap around the pool deck meandering through the lounge chairs and through the smoking bar.  The tiered design made it more interesting and the way it zig zagged lengthening the course.

And speaking of smoking, they did a good job of separating those areas so non smokers don’t have to walk through them.

There were some glitches here and there but actually it seemed like very little considering it is so new.  We went in with mixed feelings and came out wanting to book again!

  2. One free scoop of gelato is an Elite perk so I have a feeling those are the ones who ordered it most.  I always used my freebie but not this trip since it seemed out of the way and the day I went I didn’t like the flavors.  Im sure there was tons of confusion with the regular ice cream and for fee gelato being together.

  3. The casino seems on par with the other ships in terms of size.  I’ve seen table minimums from $15-$300 although there might be some others too.  I did not pay attention to max.  There seemed uptown be more activity on this sailing than our previous Equinox sailings. The casino bar is a lot nicer-it almost seems like it’s own space.  The chairs at the tables are AWFUL but we’ve been told they are temporary.  Guess they had a supplier problem and had to get something in the meantime.  Not sure when the permanent ones will arrive.

  4. There are TONS of chairs on the pool deck.  And at least half of them have been unoccupied.  I think what they have done with the levels does not come across well in pictures but in person it is very spacious and more than enough seating.

I believe the comment about bringing a lounge chair is for the stateroom balcony which is a separate issue.

  5. There are nooks all over the ship even it’s just enough space for about 4 chairs.  You will not have trouble finding quiet spaces.  The loudest I have experienced so far is when we were docked next to NCL all day yesterday and their gangway DJ music could be heard as clearly as if it was on our ship.

  6. No Bulgari in the upper suites.  We don’t like body wash either and asked our room attendant for an extra bar of soap for the shower and it was there within the hour.  No need to carry your own unless you have allergy/skin sensitivity.

eden cafe for lunch was a great free alternative and even has outdoor seating.

also don’t miss what I have dubbed the secret garden.  On the opposite outdoor deck from Eden there is a nice covered seating area.

for suite guests, the bar on the sundeck serves lunch off the Luminae menu.  I don’t remember this being advertised anywhere and certainly is convenient.

  7. So it’s been a full 24 hours now and we are still as happy as clams.  We have to get used to all the up and down stairs since we live in a one level home. The views are amazing and there is soooo much natural light due to the corner windows.  I had seen a you tube video and it must have been filmed at night or on a cloudy day because it looked very closed in.  Not at all the case!  The ceilings are higher than normal too.  No matter where you are and which direction you face you have great views.  We love having 2 bathrooms and 2 nice bathrooms at that.  Both are spacious and the upstairs is large enough for 2. I had thought the single sink would be an issue but it’s not- there is plenty of vanity space.  Also the mirror over the sink  is on sliders so it opens up to the bedroom like the S1 sky suite.  But there are slats so it’s somewhat private but still let’s sunlight in.  The shower is nice and large. The tub we won’t use but looks nice if you are a tub person.

There is an espresso machine in the room (similar to the Nespresso we have at home although this one is Lavazza) so we can have coffe immediately without waiting for room service or dressing and going to the lounge.  It was a little breezy this morning so we had breakfast at the table.  I honestly think you could fit 6 if you squeezed.  We love the convince of being right next to the Retreat lounge and sun deck-you just can’t beat the location.  Also I guess we have some priority when it comes to making reservations since everything is pretty booked up. We plan to use the patio pool later so nothing to report on that yet.

I only have one negative thing so far and that’s the living room sofa.  It’s pretty firm.  At first I thought it might just need breaking since it’s new but I think it’s becasue it’s a sleeper.  We absolutely love the s-class Celebrity suite sofa-you just melt into it.  This one feels very upright-no napping there.  But that wouldn’t keep me from staying in this room again.

as for Luminae we don’t plan to eat there since it’s only 3 days and we want to try the new places. I was told everything was inclduded.  We had lunch at the rooftop garden grill and dinner at fine cut.  Fine cut was excellent and I’m actually going to see if we can get in again instead of Eden.  Garden grill was fine but we typically don’t like to eat that much for lunch.  Lunch is served on the retreat sundeck too which was not in any brochures. It’s the Luminae menu but nice to have the option to eat there without having to dress for the actual restaurant.  As far as drinks we haven’t run into any issues.  Eden has expensive ones but didn’t World Class Bar too?  We just don’t order those drinks.  There are plenty of other options.  I do find the wine choices limited but that’s the same on any celebrity ship I’ve been on.

Hopefully this has has helped some and let me know if there are any more questions.  Now it’s off to the spa.

  8. Maggie, if you cancel your villa, we’ll take it!  Just boarded for our 3 days in the Edge Villa and are in love!  I don’t know what that travel agent was talking about - it is not cramped in here at all.  4 plus size adults can fit at the dining table.  Celebrity must have listened to the balcony feedback because the furniture was swapped - 2 lounge chairs perpendicular on the living room side with space in between to get in and out of both  and the couch by the plunge pool. The loft bedroom is private and can not be seen unless someone is up the staircase. The upstairs exit to the sun deck in fine-spacious “hallway” with privacy.  Don’t make any decisions based on pictures alone.  This room is fabulous!  I do miss the outdoor dining table because we usually love breakfast on the balcony but I’m not going to lose sleep over it.

for reference purposes, we have sailed in Sky, Celebrity and Royal suite on S-class and loft suite on Royal Oasis class so we are not new to suite life.

Off to to enjoy this amazing ship!  Will check back and answer any questions later.

  9. We’re sailing in a suite on one of the preview sailings.  I was contacted by the shoreside concierge today and got the follow up email.  Dinner on the Edge cannot be booked in advance even for suite guests.  Not sure if it will be first come first serve upon boarding or if there will be some slots set aside for premium guests.  I’ll know next month!

  10. We just came back from a cruise where we took the resident rate discount over the go best. We had Elite internet discount and casino drinks so that helped. We just ended up spending more time at the Michaels Club bar. go best is nice so you don’t have to think about anything but when I did the math we netted over $1,000 savings when we factored in the difference between the resident rate and our on board charges.

  11. The last 2 times I have flown my carryon luggage has been flagged for physical inspection because apparently 4 books stacked together look suspicious on their screen. The first time the TSA agent actually flipped through each book as if expecting to find a cutout with a secret compartment. I board Equinox next week and will most likely have the same amount of books. Maybe that’s my ticket into the naughty room!

  12. Edge and Oasis are really not comparable. You're looking at a brand new revolutionary designed ship that hasn't even debuted yet and comparing to a 9 year old ship that has 3 other more modern versions. Don't get me wrong, Oasis is one of my favorite ships, but it doesn't have surge pricing anymore. I looked at the 3 day introductory Edge sailing and it was the same price as a week on an S-class ship.

  13. Sounds like Celebrity is a perfect choice for you. And the library on s-class is to die for! A lot of avid readers on board. We started Celebrity as elite by transferring our RCL diamond status. Perks seem to be comparable although slightly different. Our favorite is the free bag of laundry.

We love Royal and Celebrity for different reasons and have never been bored on either. Royal for sure has more “wow” factor particularly on Oasis class. The entertainment is top notch. There is a lot of energy day and night. And even though we are adults we love the parades and cartoon characters. But we love the laid back atmosphere on Celebrity, higher quality food (and coffee-royals is undrinkable), live music, lack of children and non smoking casino. The specialty restaurants are really good although more pricey than Royal. We always sail in suites and the perks are more plentiful on Celebrity.

  14. I love limoncello and just finished a homemade batch. I am set for the next year. Wish I could travel with it but good to know it can be available upon request-were sailing Equinox in September. I have read of a similar mixed drink called a limoncello spritz which is limoncello, prosecco and a splash of soda water. But I like your chapel lol name better :)
