  1. I received a message from my travel agent that on my upcoming Regal Princess cruise they will implement a staggered boarding procedure. I am an Ellite passenger with preferred boarding. Does anyone know if they strictly enforce this procedure. I also board early and I am not thrilled about waiting to board latter I the day.

Definitely not enforced, especially as an elite. The elite lounge at port everglades is small so may be crowded or closed depending on when you get there.

  2. I am happy to report that we finally received our future cruise credit confirmation letter via email early this morning. I turned it in on the ship on Nov. 5th. They made it effective 11/15/16. I was beginning to lose faith:( ...but Princess came through! :):)

I guess if you need the credit sooner rather than later to make a new booking it would be best to sit down with the future cruise consultant while on the ship.

Hope anyone else who is waiting is taken care of.

    Got ours today also....

  3. I haven't looked at the Princess website for a long time, so today I tried to find out how many FCC's I had and couldn't even find the place where they're listed. I used to find them in My Princess somehow. Where do I look? I know I have a few left that are still good.

Future Cruise Deposits are listed in the "Circle Savings Account" tab under My Princess.

  4. I was looking at the FCC form and on the bottom it appears to show that you can purchase FCC in whatever currency you would like. We are from Canada. Have booked with a US travel agent for our upcoming cruise and our onboard acct will be in US funds. We are planning on booking an Australia and New Zealand cruise with Princess in the future (which they offer in Canadian funds) so I was looking at FCC however I want it to be in Canadian funds since the exchange betn Canadian and Australian dollars is much better then Canadian to US. Can I purchase the FCC on board in Canadian funds using a different credit card then my onboard account?

Assuming you are talking about the Future Cruise Deposit (FCD), it can probably be done, but given the number of forms they receive on each cruise (I still haven't received mine yet from my last cruise), I would personally had it to the Future Cruise person and explain what you want done.

  5. We recently disembarked the Regal Princess on Nov 6th. Placed our preprinted/signed request for future cruise credit in the designated future cruise deposit mail slot box on Nov 5th and have yet to receive a confirmation.

    Anyone else have this problem??

I disembarked from the Regal Princess on November 6 also. I had filled out the forms for three future cruise credits about a week before disembarking and never received any emails. I even wrote a note to the future cruise credit person a couple of days before disembarking and never received a reply. After I was home for several days I finally called Princess customer service because nothing had shown up on my Personalizer. They checked and could find no record of mine being processed so they took my credit card number and issued the three credits. I suggest you call Princess and tell them that you filled out the forms and have not received any confirmation. They will take care of it for you.

We are in the same predicament also. (same ship/same problem) I have called Princess twice and have been assured that I will get the FCDs. They are trying to work through the ship, The first person I talked to said, basically, too bad, you should have done that on the ship. A supervisor and the agent from the second call made attempts to rectify the error. Was told to call back next week if it didn't show up by then. At least it is documented on the system that it was there error. For the person that called and got their FCD issued, check to make sure it has the same OBC as if purchased onboard.

  6. We've only been on Regal Princess and loved it. Will this ship be a disappointment?

It looks like it will have a refurb before that cruise.

    Thanks,

    Jennie

That depends on your expectations. What did you like about the Regal that you want to see on the Caribbean? We have been on both ships twice and are on this cruise as well. The only issues I know of on the Caribbean was it was looking warn and had an occasional sewer smell in some locations. Hopefully the refurb prior to this cruise will take care of those issues.

  7. Anyone that has been on the Regal recently.

What time were the rooms available? Are they still not opening up until 1:30 or so? I know this is not the norm for other Princess ships.

    Dress for the Chef's Table,

Will slacks and a dark guyabera shirt by acceptable for Chefs Table? I know folks usually dress up a little for this.

    Thanks

Just got off the Regal, We boarded at noon and out cabin was still in the process of being cleaned. We dropped of our carry ons, but I think this flustered the cabin steward and we never got a thorough cleaning.

Although we sat by the Chefs Table, all the dinners must have been during the late seating, so can't respond to that question.

  8. Yes it has been played mostly by retirees for many years but with the sports rapid growth over the last few years, it has become a game for all ages and skill level.

From what I have read the Regal is the only Princess ship with a pickleball court. I will be bringing 4 paddles and some balls on the cruise with me.

With more than 3000 pax on board hopefully I can find a few to play with.

And I would be happy to introduce the game to anyone who would like to learn.

Here is a clip of highlights of the first annual U.S. OPEN in Florida earlier this year.

When I was on the Royal in Jan. there were planned activities for pickle ball (yes, I saw them playing), so am guessing it is available on both the Royal and Regal.

  9. Hi, can anyone please tell me the prices to buy pictures from the ships photographer on Regal and Royal, and can you buy them in digital format?

    Many thanks!

The one we got on our January cruise was 24.95. Package deals are available as is a digital option.

  10. Carol P

We too are on the 11/6/16 Regal with an Obs. View BV balcony (there really isn't any obstruction and we are happy with our room) but noticed that the price went down. I asked my TA about possible shipboard credit from Princess and was told that Princess doesn't do that after final payment, which I understand, but thought I would try! I did not however ask about a change of rooms, so I would ask...for sure. You never know. It doesn't hurt to try. Let us know.

    Donna

Just a couple of comments. Not all BV cabins are unobstructed. Only the ones forward where the angled balconies start are unobstructed. We usually book BV category on the Regal/Royal.

They don't give sbc after final? Try again until someone gives it to you. More likely they will upgrade, The key is if there is a better cabin available for the same price or less than what you originally paid, you should be able to get sbc or an upgrade. Last time that happened to us we were upgraded. Didn't loose previous benefits from the sale. If the lower price is due to another sale (not likely after final is made), then all bets off.

Carol P, just realized you are working through a TA. Good luck, but if they are any good they will do right by you. I was using a TA when we got the upgrade.

  11. You are really paying their gratuities, it's just that they don't show up on your S&S bill. The gratuity is mingled in with your fare. You can give your cabin steward extra if you choose to do so. If we're on a long cruise I usually give the steward a $20 half between our cruise. On our up coming 2 cruises we have the free gratuity. Your cabin steward does not know that you have this offer so no need to feel awkward.

We caught the 3-in-1 for our Hawaii cruise and am looking forward to that tip charge disappearing on the room tab!

    Happy Sailing!

On our last cruise with pre-paid gratuities, there were still the automatic daily gratuity charges on the folio. However, there was a credit at the beginning of the cruise equal to the total amount that was coming out.

  12. Generally, prior to final payment due date, you have a choice. You can stay with the arrangement you have or you can switch to the current offer. If you switch to the current offer, you get the current price and any current perks. You lose the original price and any perks in the original booking.

Another option is to ask for an upgrade unless you are against switching cabins.

  13. Also allow for those that return to their cabin and find the "luggage fairy" has made a visit. Let's see........go to a meet and greet or get yourself unpacked?

I would opt to have the M&G on the first sea day when the timing is more predictable.

This is not the M&G we are talking about, but rather an informal get together for a quick greeting and possibly a drink. Al is on the same cruise we are and we are glad he volunteered for this. Usually the only instructions are where to meet, an approximate time and how to distinguish the CC members from others (eg. mardigras beads, a certain color, etc. This past January cruise the drill was at 3:15 with official sailaway set for around 4. It was a little cramped for time since we have early dining, but well worth the effort to get to meet a few new people.

  14. My wife and I are sailing on the Regal in January. We are celebrating her birthday on January 10 with a special party🎉. We plan to sign up for the Chef Table once onboard. We have been very fortunate to always get invited on past cruises. However, if the Chef Table is scheduled for January 10.... can we cancel once we learn the date🍾? Thanks for the help!

I don't have an answer to your question, however on each of my past cruises on the Regal and Royal, there have been multiple "Chef's Table Lumiere" depending on demand. Rather than only one, and picking a few lucky people, they seem to be trying to accommodate as many people as possible. So, maybe you would be able to switch nights? If you have not experienced it, this is a different experience than the old Chef's Table on the other ships.

  15. Does anyone know at which beach the Island Tour concludes. Is there shade?

Not sure which beach your tour stops at, but any shade will be in the form of umbrellas. As pointed out, there are not very many trees that provide shade in Aruba. Our last trip, the tour was just of the lighthouse and dropped us off at Eagle Beach, waited for us and then wild/loud music return to the ship. A couple years earlier I took a tour that included most of the island and stopped at Baby Beach (The opposite side of the island from Eagle Beach). Both tours waited at the beach for us, no option to go back to the ship.

  16. Thinking of booking deck 8 guaranteed obstructed balcony. What is the worst balcony I could end up with? Should I take a chance? This would be Oct 22 5 day cruise to Canada.

    Thanks for your help.

    Laura

Here is a better site. It shows the view from each of the cabins. As you can see, there is not "total" obstructions. You may have to stand at the balcony and look around, but no total blockages. This is the deck we book when on the Regal or Royal.

  17. I'm sorry.

It is C239 now and considering C622.

    Thanks!

If you are lucky like we have on our TAs, it won't make any difference. You are looking at Carib deck exclusively? On the Caribbean Princess they are larger balconies and command a higher price. Usually, the closer to the center of the ship is best for reduced movement. That kicks the price even higher. Where you want to be depends on priorities, Motion? Price? balcony size(how much will you use the balcony on a TA)?

  18. We've booked a guaranteed obstructed balcony on Royal Princess for a cruise in

December, has anyone been on this type of balcony, any comments would be helpful.

You have the link to the pictures. Your worst case scenario would be a lifeboat in front of your balcony. That would block your view to just above the balcony railing. If you have a ship's tender outside, they don't come up as high. and from there, everything else is gravy.
