Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We are docking at Coxen Hole, so I was planning a private tour with one of the companies recommended on here, so I'm not actually sure what the location would be. On the Victor Bodden website it just says Mayan Jungle Canopy.
  2. Can someone who has done zip lining here tell me about the experience? I (F 48) will be visiting with my two daughters (14 and 12) and my 14 year old would not want to do the zip line (she isn't adventurous at all) and I am wondering if anyone has sat out while others in their group have done it and can shed some light on where she'd be while we are doing it?
  3. Thank you! I'll take a look now.
  4. I lean toward modern just because that reads new and clean to me. But that’s not an absolute. Like you said I more want quality, good mattress and linens, shower quality etc.
  5. Hi all, such great information on here. I’d love to get suggestions for my scenario. I will be in Rome in July pre-cruise for one night and post-cruise for 3 nights. It is just myself and my two daughters (11&13). We are from Las Vegas, so spoiled when it comes to hotel offerings, and have a suite booked for the cruise. I realize I’m not going to get the same modernity and size in Rome but I’d like to find somewhere that 1) is pretty central for walking purposes, 2) is safe, 3) has an elevator, 4) as modern (upgraded, new) as possible. I am willing to go up to around 800-ish a night. Right now we have the Hotel Nazionale booked for the night before and Terrace Pantheon Relais for after, but booked all refundable so we can change. thoughts??
  6. unfortunately that tour is fully booked, so out of luck there.
  7. I will be in Santorini July 7, off the NCL Breakaway. We are in port from 1pm-10pm Based on cruise mapper it appears that there is only one other ship in port that day, the Seaborne Encore, which has approximately 600 pax and is in port from 8am-11pm. We are in the Haven, so we have priority tendering, so we can plan to be the first off our ship. Given these circumstances is it reasonable to believe there will not be a multiple hour wait for the cable car? I'd like to just do Oia on our own, so hoping not to book a tour.
  8. I could use some opinions, want to do a full day private tour with either George’s or PK. Basically the same price for both. Anyone have any personal experience with either?
  9. 50/50 shot they will either be tired and cranky or excited. Rome might be the best bet in that case, so we can do either.
  10. thanks for the response. Recommendations for private transfers? What time do people normally leave Rome for the port?
  11. We arrive in Rome at 6:35 am July 4th, and board the next day. Single mom with two girls 11 & 13. Do you recommend we stay in Rome the night before, or just take the ride to Civitavecchia from the airport and stay there the night. We will have 3 days in Rome post-cruise, so not concerned about that.
  12. We will be in Tortola in March, in port from 6am-2pm. There are only 3 of us - myself and my two daughters (11 & 13). We are the only ship in port that day. I try to stay away from the ship tours because of all the waiting around, and prefer to go on my own. I am leaning toward CGB because I'd like to have foo and facilities for the kids, and I am assuming it won't be too crazy since we are the only ship in port. That said I'm open to other options, but something safe (single mom) and with reliable way to get back to the ship.
  13. I know the MIA pre-cruise hotel question has been asked a ton (and I think I've read them all). Our situation is a little different. I always book for two nights even though we only stay one. We fly into FLL, land at 6 am on 3/11, cruise is 3/12. I will book a room for the 10th and 11th, so the room is ready for us as soon as we arrive around 7 am. Which means I am paying for 2 nights and only staying for one. There are three of us, myself, and my two daughters 13 year old and 11 year old. The twist is that I am a bit of a hotel snob due to the fact that I work in hospitality in Las Vegas in a 5 star hotel, so looking for more upscale, or at least newer and clean and safe. Stayed at the Intercontinental last time in a bay view room and it was just okay. I'd like to stay less than about 700 a night. Considering the Kimpton Epic, the Cadillac Miami Beach, the Intercontinental again. Any other thoughts?
