  1. Too tight for us.  I don't want to take an enjoyable cruise then stress out trying to get a flight home with a chance of missing it.  On our upcoming cruise in less than 3 weeks, we just decided to stay in a nearby hotel and fly out the following morning.  Yes it cost a bit extra but the stress of missing a flight is not worth it.  Hope everything lines up in your favor and you get out on time.

  2. I appreciate the post.  Sailing on her in Oct 2020.  We normally sail on RCI but liked the change to Carnival.  Appealing on Carnival is food and more food venues.  After awhile food over and over on same cruise line tends to get old.  Retired ow, so itinerary and price are driving factors.

Well, it should be easy as I'm sure it was one of the Holiday class ships back in 1991,  My 1987 cruse was on the Jubilee... Carnival sold it in 2004.

What ship did you cruise on, in 1991 ?

It was actually the Tropicale, I had my wires crossed when I posted and realized it when I found our official photo.  All these years I thought it was the Carnivale but it turned out to be the Tropicale.  My apologies to all on this post.

Assuming Carnival is reasonable about this...and I think they will be...the fact that you have a picture from the Carnivale should be proof enough...especially, if your present cruise history doesn't list a cruise on the Carnivale on it.

As I said earlier, in my experience, Carnival is fairly lenient in these matters, unlike some other cruise lines.  I have taken 4 cruises with NCL, but they won't allow them as they all occured in the 1970's and 80's, which they say is too far back to count.

    Go figure...

Thank you again, I'm more optimistic now.  I'll let you know what happens.

  5. DW and I took our first cruise on Carnival almost 28 years ago.  Had kids and affordability of cruises was not an option.  I'm retired now and we cruise 2-3 times a year.  We sailed on Carnival last November and had a good time so would like to build up loyalty points.  Challenge is we have next to nothing to show we cruised on Carnival for 7 nights bin 1991.  We did find a formal photo of us and it has the ship's name on the bottom left corner with a alphanumeric number on bottom right.  Any chance this might prove we sailed to get credit?  Interested in hearing feedback especially if you sailed that long ago, how if any did you get credit?  BTW, I did request credit, waiting to hear back from Carnival.  No way to attach a photo on the initial request.  Thx!

  6. My DW is terrified at the thought of cruising during hurricane season but we go any way and once on board she is fine.  The challenge as mentioned earlier is hoping the embarkation port is open and planes can fly into nearby port.  We had a close call when going out of Galveston and flying into Houston.  The stars lined up at the last moment and we were able to get in and out without any issues.

  7. DW and I go, some are fun and some are duds.  It's nice to see other people we've met before on other cruises.  We did win a bottle of wine and a t-shirt.  We did go on a cabin crawl, I thought it would be boring but it actually turned out to be one of the most fun M&Ms attended.  Great people and it was good to see them as we moved about the ship.

JTB Cruiser, since you have been on Liberty, is there only one place to get espresso coffee?  Promenade?

Echo what Bob said.  I do buy the card when we embark as 99 times out of 100, it's the same price as buying online.  It gives me a chance to verify how many shots per size cup.  You may be surprised as they are consistently inconsistent on the number of shots per cup size. Are you on the upcoming 9 Nov sailing?

  9. DW and I did a cruise down east coast to the Bahamas this past March.  I read many reviews, mostly positive and it lived up to the majority of the reviews.  We prefer smaller ships without all the bells and whistles.  We had a JS which gave us plenty of room and spent time in the hot tubs and pool.  Never seemed crowded on any part of the ship.  Shows were enjoyable and food though subjective, above average.  Service and friendliness of crew and fellow passengers was top notch.  We intend to book it again for the New England/Canada cruise TBD.
