  1. Hello

Have a transatlantic on MSC in September.  Flying to Civitavecchia  hopefully a few days early to see a bit of Italy.  Will need another covid test since it will be beyond 48 hours before boarding ship.   Does anyone know where in Civitavecchia we can get covid tests with a fast enough turnaround to board the ship?

    Thanks for the help

Incorrect - you just need to show that you have insurance coverage for covid, it is not necessary to purchase from MSC or your TA.

I have a letter from my travel insurance stating I am covered for covid up to $30k and it has worked fine for MSC in both the Med and UAE.

    Hi

What company did you get travel insurance from?   Will be flying to Rome for a transatlantic back to the states and need the covid insurance.  Have Medicare  and coverage thru my credit card but it is not covid specific.  Need to pick up a policy for their requirement for covid.

    Thanks for your help

If we go yes I will. Have not decided fully yet as we can cancel any time even on Sunday morning.

I will wait till I see what they report for cases before docking Sunday morning.

    Hi

I am on the Jan 23rd cruise  and am curious on where do you look for the report on cases?

Hopefully the CDC will not pull the plug on the cruise lines before I get to go.

    Thanks for your help

  4. Hi All

We are booked to sail on the Poesia in Sept 2022  .    MSC  requires a PCR test within three days   of sailing  returning from Barcelona in Oct 2022  US requires a test within one day of flying  so   Does anyone know the price of a PCR test in the US  and also a price of a Antigen test in Barcelona and where to get one.  OR does the ship have the capability of doing the test the day before departure and at what price?

Thanks for any information you can supply.

I have never paid "brochure rate" and always get my stockholder OBC.  Was there a reason given when they denied it?

    Hi

We had no obc from discounted cruises nor obc for this cruise.  Booked the rate that came up when I entered all the information  age, past passenger.  So if those rates are highly discounted rates  I apologize for my statement.  But I have always booked either of those rates and have gotten my shockholder credit for 18 prior cruises.

Their answer   Ongoing they are not recognizing discounted rates.  I do not feel that $500+ per person for a interior cabin is deeply discounted.

    Thanks

You must have gotten one of those promo rates. Pay full price similar to pre covid and I got my obc from stock lol. In fact they transferred my stockholders 1 year forward when I got cancelled.

    Hi

    Nope      Just a regular sale

so I guess you have to pay the brochure rate to get the OBC now,

So there are a few transatlantic NCL cruises from Europe, e.g. Rome/Lisbon in November/December to the USA.

Right now, EU citizens can't go to the US as per US travel restrictions (not to mention their own restrictions).

Hopefully the travel restrictions will not be in place at the end of this year.

But what are folks thoughts on whether these ships (NCL Dawn, Star, Epic, Escape, Getaway) etc. will be over in Europe to actually make that trip back to the US?  (Or maybe they will be in Europe by summer).

Will these transatlantics have a good chance of taking place?

    Hi

The Dawn is in Europe now.(check *****)   Sooo  hopefully the transatlantic will bring her back   But to where if the no sail order is still in effect cannot come back to USA  maybe the Bahamas.  We are booked on the transatlantic and the 7day cruise before.

  8. Don't forget what was posted earlier: the discount isn't given when the Beverage Card is used. Only the cabin card will get the discount applied.

So, when your daughter orders her flavored coffees, she needs to use her cabin card to pay for them in order to get the discount.

    Hi

In reading HAL's 4 star benefits it states a 50% discount on beverage card. Has anyone actually gotten the beverage card at half price?

    Thanks

  10. Since I board in Rome and many people will be using Rome as just a port stop. I was wondering if I can check in and drop off my luggage and get my ship card and then get right off the ship since it actually doesn't leave till 7? They say you have to be checked in 2 hours before. I would like to get a late lunch before I board the ship at a restaurant there I have had a few tell me I should try for lunch.

    Hi

I am boarding in October going in two days earlier to Civitavecchia what restaurant are you planning to have lunch at. I need some suggestions.

    Thanks

  11. HI

Where is anyone staying in Limon the night before? Looking at schedules for Colon and Limon it might be better to fly into Costa Rica than Panama. That would require a shuttle to Limon and an overnight stay near the port before the cruise.

What are anyone's plans who are flying into San Jose on to Limon to get the ship?

Was just in Costa Rica on the Norwegian Pearl and the road from the port to the rainforest was a good road so I would assume getting between the airport and the port would be good.

Any suggestions on transfers and hotel the night before would be appreciated.

    thanks

  12. Hello my wife and I are also considering a transatlantic, but we have a few questions.

1.Each cruise line, has an agenda, that they publish and leave in your cabin each night for the next day. What does pullmantur call their paper?

2.Cruise lines charge gratitutes daily. Does pullmantur do so?

    Thank you,

    John

    Hi

In answer to your questions Yes and Yes. Can't remember the name of the daily's but your room steward leaves them in your cabin also they do charge a daily gratuity.

I was on the transatlantic to Colon loved it. The lunches are amazing while the dinners are the same choices but all in all the food preparation was excellent.

I am hoping to do this cruise also if I can get the return flights straightened out.

    Enjoy

  13. Pullmantur HO have said they cannot arrange this from their end - the Dining room manager can and will be happy to if same is requested once we board - he will need all the cabin numbers to sort this out

    Hi all

So if we want to dine in the same area we need to contact the Maitre Di

I guess the first people on the ship should inquire. I know we hope to be on as early as possible. We are staying in Santurce just a short cab ride to the ship.

If anyone wants to post their cabin numbers just do it and hopefully we can compile a list before we leave on Thursday. I usually check this board once a day.

I will start I want to be able to sit with other solo English speaking cruisers or English speaking couples.

  14. Hi All especially prior Monarch cruisers

I have read conflicting posts about the power outlets in the cabins.

Some say the ship has both 110 and 220 like all Royal ships and others say just 220.

So anyone who has cruised on the Monarch what is it? 220 110 or both?

Also do they supply hair dryers?

I hate to pack the voltage converter and adapters since they are heavy.

May just leave the tablet home if it is 220.

    Thanks for your help

  15. We (Keith and Doreen from Montreal) are arranging for Mario's CL1 tour which takes its time crossing to the Pacific side, while Pat Novak from SC is arranging for CL9 which goes straight South for a tour of Panama City. It looks like both tours have sufficient numbers to be confirmed. Anyone wanting to join either tour can decide on board but it might be a good idea to decide before Saint Martin so we can phone/email to confirm the right size of vehicle.

    Hi Keith and Doreen

The tour CL9 does go to the Miraflores Locks and the Canal Expansion which are the new locks and can be up to 45 minutes there also see the Centennial Bridge and the Pedro Miguel Locks also the visitors center then going to the city to see the Cathedral historical buildings on then to the new city.

And then hopefully we can arrange transportation to a central destination to be able to obtain transport to our final destination.

Once we know how many are going we can work out our destination.

Hope this clarify's this tour. It does take 6-8 hours
