Hi Pat--I can't seem to find anywhere as to how much it cost for a taxi to port from airport. Have you found anything yet?

Our flight gets in around 10 am, so am wondering if anyone wants to share?

I am staying in Santurze the night before and shareing a van with another passenger we were quoted 48euros if this is any help to you. I was told that taxis were readily available.

When we have a better idea of how many people are definately interested we could get a few quotes. I am sure there will be more people on the cruise who may want to join too, but maybe better not to make it too big a group. Just about a month to go, I am looking forward to the cruise and meeting you all. Maybe when we have a full list of everyone on this rollcall we can approach Cruise Critic or the ship to arrange a welcome meeting for us, or alternatively, arrange our own meet and greet. JoanB

I think it is time to make the arrangements for the transfer and tour. Since we all will have luggage with us. I think My Friend Mario has the best reviews.

Can we all post so we have a accurate count to be able to make the

reservation. I believe the cost should between 70-80 per person.

Duration is between 6-7 hours.

I am not sure of drop off point am looking for suggestions.

I am staying at a airport hotel.

Do we know for sure if there are any 110 outlets in the cabins? Do I have to bring a voltage converter and adapters?

I know my tablet will need recharging.

Other than that I hope all are surviving this really strange summer.

I was on the crossing in May to Lisbon. This was my first Pullmantur cruise and it was GREAT!

Drinks from 10 am to 3:30 am! Almost all included a few premium names that cost $1 to $2 to upgrade. I was drinking Baileys and cola on the included list. Mojitos, pins coladas and tequila sunrises all included! At dinner in the dining room they pour red, white or rose wines.

Bars at the pool and the lounges, so enjoy!

I am interested in doing a tour from the cruise port to Panama City. I have enquired with several companies. Mario seems the best, they quoted $60 per person for a tour to the rain forest, fort and locks expansion plus $10 to Panama City, so $70pp in total. Leave about 9.00am arrive about 4.00pm.

 

Roadrunne quoted $399 for 6, $66pp or $369 for 4, $92pp for thge same sort of tour.

 

Easy Travel $125pp and Barefoot Tours $110pp same sort of tour.

 

What we need to know is how many people are interested and what sort of places they want to visit and where they want to be dropped off in the city. ie the bus station or a big Mall where it would be easy to get a taxi to each hotel etc.

 

Let's get a list of all interested to start with. Maybe start a new thread, I don't know how to do that!!

Is anyone besides me interested in a disembarkation tour to the locks (canal) a sightseeing tour (not too much heavy walking) and a airport hotel drop off?

I am staying at the Riande Airport Hotel and would like to be dropped off there or at a central location to get a cab to the hotel after the tour.

Anyone else interested?

I looked at My Friend Mario and they will sort of customize a tour for you.

If anyone is interested post a answer and I will contact them to inquire about pricing and times.

Has anyone run into issues with a transfer from the Bilbao Airport?

Anyone booked their transfer yet and with whom.

Looking into transfers it seems that every one we have encountered has wanted to know how many suitcases and in one instance the reply was we hae too many suitcases.

Anyone else run into problems?

Does anyone know if Pullmantur has transfers after the arrival in Colon? Specifically I found they have some tours to the locks and on to shopping in Panama City for ~$70, but they appear to return to Colon. Do they have transfers to Panama City and if so where can you find them on their website? I would rather not have to pay upwards of $150 to travel solo taxi from Colon to my hotel in Panama City if I don't have to. Thanks for any responses.

I leave on the 15th from Myrtle Beach, SC fly to Phila. depart Phila at 6:50pm on American Airlines flight 740 to Madrid change planes and on to Bilboa arriving in Bilboa the 16th at 12:50 in a perfect world.

I have booked a hotel in Santurce which is close to the port.

How I am getting to Santurce is still being worked on but if all else fails I will take a taxi from the airport.

Hopefully you can arrange everything since I think this will be a interesting cruise.

I have booked the UHR Palacio de Oriol in Santurze which is near the port and the Riande Aeropuerto Hotel Casino in Panama hopefully I picked two decent places.

Everything except figuring out the luggage charges is done. Next I can focus on my November cruise on the Magic Eastern Caribbean.

I got an e-mail from my travel agent. I had asked him if he could put in a request for me to be seated at a large table with English speakers.

He said it should happen, so hopefully I will meet some of you at dinner.

Last year on Costa that was the request and it took three nights to finally get a table where people were not yelling to each other in languages I could not begin to understand. (the maiter'd) was one of the worse that I have ever encountered.

Hopefully more people will show up on this forum in the next few weeks.

Hello Everyone,

 

Just booked this cruise Bilbao to Colon. Still finalizing before and after plans but probably do a couple days each. Probably flying Norwegian into Madrid then catching the bus to Bilbao. Then looking at the early morning Spirit flight out of Panama.

 

This will be my 4th straight year of doing a west bound Tranatlantic but first on Pullmantur. Traveling solo and opted for the early dinner. I'm 46 and traveling from Arizona. My spanish is almost non existant but for price and drinks included, I couldn't pass it up.

 

Would be interested in any hotel suggestions in Bilbao and Panama City. Also any tours that are being put together either before or after and for ports.

Since you have done the westbound transatlantics before what is the usual weather in the middle of the atlantic, Warm, cool, cold?

I suffer from overpacking and on this adventure I am trying to cut back and save all those extra luggage fees nevermind the pain of lugging it all around. Any insight as to the possible weather would be appreciated.

I have searched and found a Pullmantur website that lists the shore excursions they offer pretty slim but at least they offer a debarcation tour to the canal on onward to Panama City.

I have been on the Sunshine twice.. If it was the only ship that was going where I wanted to go then I would but if I found another ship with a good itinerary that would be my choice.

I found the ship much too crowded from the movable chairs in the main showroom to the crowds at the Comedy club and on the ill placed serenity deck that is not so serene.

Finally booked from Bilboa. I am flying American and Iberia will be staying one night in Santurce (hopefully it is near the port) and then staying one night in Panama city before coming home. I am flying Copa to Ft.Lauderdale and then Spirit back to South Carolina.

I have requested early dining so hopefully some of us solo travelers will be seated together.

When I was researching this trip months ago I looked at ways of getting from Colon to Panama City and there were local operaters who could do a transfer with some sightseeing included . I'm sure we could get together a small group if necessary. Joan

Hopefully all will work out. I am booking this week. I guess closer to the cruise I can find some suggestions from others on the ship.

I was disappointed after searching many sites this week to find out that the first canal excursion after we port in Panama is not offered until the 7th and I really do not want to stay that long.

I think I am going to stay over one night in Panama and fly back to the US on Copa. I don't want the 2AM flight from Spirit and then have to deal with finding somewhere to stay in FT Lauderdale before continuing on home to South Carolina.

I am almost ready to book this cruise. I have a question for anyone who can help.

UR Will Pullmantur have a shuttle in to the city or have a Paid Excursion for a tour of either the Canal or the city after debarcation? I can not decide if I want to just fly back home or spend a couple of days in Panama. (tour of canal) Since I am a solo traveler I am not about to go out on my own in Panama.

Is any one leaving from the east coast that has already made their air reservations? I am still getting outrageous prices for air fare.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I have not booked the cruise yet, since I want to get the air done first.

I think I have to fly in a day early stay in a hotel either in Bilbo or near the port for one night. That is ok it will give me a little time to see the area.

Hopefully I get this all worked out since I have never done the transatlantic and it will be a first.

I am still trying to figure out the logistics of this.

Does anyone plan on staying over in Panama and doing a partial transit of the canal? Has anyone done the tour of the canal and is it possible to do the day after the ship arrives in Colon?

If that can be done that would mean two nights in a hotel and fly back to the US on the 5th. Is this possible? and if so anyone know of any tour companies, and have any hotel suggestions since I am traveling solo?

Hopefully I can make this all come together.

I am thinking of booking this cruise. The only problem is my airfare to Bilboa.

Yikes. I live in the Myrtle Beach SC area and am in the process of investigating airfare.

Does anyone know if I stay a extra day in Panama and leave on the late Spirit air flight will I be able to arrange a partial excursion thru one of the locks?

I am retired so an extra day or two on the Panama end is ok.

Hope I can work this out for a reasonable price.
