  1. We did the Foodies walking tour in Saint John. It was a great way to get to know the history of Saint John which is very interesting and also see some great architecture. We got to try an abundance of food including Beaver Tails and Lobster rolls. This was an excursion sponsored by RCI and done by Aguila Tours. The tour guide was excellent and knew the history very well. There was walking, of course, but doable. Two couples with strollers were with us, and they seemed to manage well.

  2. Just finished the same voyage last week. I loved the ports. We went to Peggy's Cove on an excellent excursion from Royal Caribbean. I really learned a lot about that part of Canada. All the ports are quaint, easy to walk around in, and residents seem to love living there. The ship is fantastic. The servers in the Windjammer were very friendly and enthusiastic. We also ate in Chops and Giovanni's and would go back to both. Have a wonderful trip with many great memories with your family.

  3. We always use RoamRight. They have a 500,000 air evacuation policy which is adequate enough if that is needed. Fortunately, we haven't had to use that part, but we did need their services when my husband and I had to leave a ship so he could go to the hospital when he had congestive heart failure. The insurance company was very easy to work with and covered all expenses. We just needed to submit receipts. They didn't question anything and even accepted my husband's regular doctor's signature on the paperwork since getting the ship doctor's signature and the doctor signature in St. Thomas would have been quite difficult.

  4. The Care Team was also helpful to my husband and I during a medical crisis during a cruise during the 2016 Christmas season, so I can relate to how they make a very difficult situation easier. Thank you for taking the time to appreciate some of the people who helped you during this time. No one wants to use the Care Team, but it is comforting to know they are there in case they are needed. May you have many times of comfort as you continue this unexpected journey.

  5. I agree to get advice from your doctor. If he/she says you are free to travel, I think the ship will be able to handle what you will need. We were on the Oasis last December and my husband had fluid overload due to congestive heart failure (and too much beer!). The clinic was able to deal with the fluid, but to be cautious had us go to the hospital in St. Thomas which was the safest action. They were quick and professional. I don't know what your itinerary is, but I now check the hospitals in each port just in case. If you need to go to the hospital, RCCI will get you there quickly and follow up well in my experience.

  6. I waited until 1:00 am to sail over the Norfolk Bridge tunnel because I heard how awesome it is to see car lights go under the water as the ship passed by. By that time, there was only one car that went on the bridge. Still fun to see. It was the first night of the cruise, so I wouldn't have slept anyway. I thought of all the times I have been in major traffic jams in the same spot!

  7. I agree with the post about the medical treatment in St. Thomas. We had to leave the Oasis because my husband had a fluid overload due to congestive heart failure. RCI got an ambulance for us which whisked us off to the hospital there. I am very impressed with the hospital. The nurses and doctors were well trained and knowledgeable. RCI kept in good contact with us. I was very impressed with the St. Thomas port authority because we had to stay in the hospital and missed sailing away from St. Thomas. They helped us with transportation and took us through customs at the airport. I, of course, would have wanted to finish the cruise, but this experience made me more confident if I have a medical emergency away from home. I believe RCI takes medical situations seriously and help in any way they can. Going to the clinic on board can be expensive, so I recommend travel insurance.

  8. We stayed at the Country Inn and Suites close to the port. You can include parking at the hotel in booking a room, and the hotel provides a shuttle. Couldn't have been easier and it was exciting to wake up the morning of the cruise and see the Oasis from the hotel. The hotel is a short easy ride to Fishlips which I also recommend for dinner.

  9. Your grand children are gorgeous. I am sure they will have many wonderful stories to share about their grandmother with their children. I am so glad you got to have such a special time with those very important people. It looks like you have a family that is ready anytime to create more beautiful memories! Thanks for sharing with us.

  10. You sound like a great friend with a great attitude. I went from Virginia to California with my best friend in a 1974 AMC Gremlin and just two sleeping bags. Not luxury at all, but we both share great memories. I hope you have fun while you are enjoying time with someone who seems important to you. Nothing beats that!

  11. We also did the British Colonial Hilton. It was quiet and peaceful and a great day if you are wanting just a small beach. The hotel is nice, and there are no vendors asking you to buy things. If you want convenience (easy walking from the port) as well as peace, you can't beat the deal. The Bahama Mamas were good too which can be paid with using the food voucher. The water is calm and clear and there is a nice pool you can use if you want. The cost also includes beach towels.

  12. I am still here enjoying all the food pictures. The American table looks great. It looks like some old favorites and some new treats to try. But nothing looks better than you in a tux. Surely, you have made the best dressed list and Ralph Lauren is looking for you to show off his latest designs. Of course, such a look probably complicates potty training. You deserve many extra Skittles for dressing like such a gentleman.

  13. We stayed at the Best Western at Arundel Mills, Md booked through Trinity Travel. It was quiet and clean and had a nice pub on the site. It wasn't fancy but met our needs. It has a great shuttle service to and from the airport and cruise port which is only about 15 minutes away. I would definitely recommend this hotel and coming into Baltimore the night before the cruise so you can relax and let them get you back and forth to where you need to be.
