I have taken two Viking river cruises and never found the hallways narrow. Did I just not notice?? I am not a big drinker so I never purchase the beverage package and have found the included wines (especially the white) quite adequate. The cabins were quite comfy also for my sister and myself so I had no problems there either. These are the only river cruises I have ever been on, so can't compare them with anything else. Maybe if I had been on other cruise lines river cruises, I would notice extreme differences. I have thoroughly enjoyed my river cruises and ocean cruises on Viking. Of course, it could be that I am just so happy to be sailing and seeing places I have never seen that I don't notice minor inconveniences. If you see me on a Viking cruise, (one coming up on July 15) I will have a big smile on my face from the time I embark until I have to leave. Happy sailing to all.

My experience has been that you must register a credit card once onboard, and that balances are charged against that.
My sister used Euros to pay her end of cruise invoice on one of our cruises (don't remember which one) but they did accept them.

Hope you will write a paragraph or two on the pros and any cons of the DV1s on the aft. We had finagled our way into one for our Hong Kong to Bangkok cruise that got canceled. In addition to being disappointed about the cruise not getting to experience that stateroom made me sad.
I stayed in 5110 on the aft a DV1 on my prior Iceland cruise and I loved it. The balcony was much deeper and that one was covered which came in handy for those rainy times. I really enjoyed watching the wake and leaving ports gave excellent views. The cabin was a typical DV which I like. Tried to get an aft for my upcoming July Norway and Iceland cruise but they were all taken. You will love it Clay.

Thank you all for your responses and pictures. Looks like it is well equipped for a cruise ship. I usually do a bike warmup, chest press, lat pulldown, rowing machine, leg press, body weight squats and then some free weights. Think I can get everything...now if you know where they keep the motivation..I will be all set. 🙂

Thanks so much. I have good intentions but....we'll see how it goes. I do three days a week now and hoping I can convince myself to maintain the same on my 2 week cruise in July.

Can anyone tell me what equipment is in the gym on Jupiter? Machines? Free weights?
Any answers greatly appreciated.

It may simply be their internal accounting bucket note. They are not likely talking to "you" but referencing what section of the books it came from.
likely a way of speeding your refund rather than the round about checks and balances of ship to office to credit card company and on it goes
I totally agree that this is probably an accounting function and not a reflection on you in any way. I am a CPA and work for a large healthcare entity (we have 38 hospitals scattered across the country) and some of the account titles we use are not reflective of what actually is recorded in those accounts. Just ignore where the refund is recorded for their in house folks....it means something to them but should not concern you at all. At times also, things get miscoded by staff and later we at corporate have to ferret out the mistakes and get them corrected to the appropriate account. It may not be caught until we close the books for a month and see something odd sitting in an account, research and get it moved to the correct account. Happens all the time....especially by the facility personnel and some even by our corporate accountants. Everybody is just human and mistakes will occur. Sorry this rankled you so much, but it really has nothing to do with you or your refund.

When we did this excursion in 2021, it was a panoramic tour except for the free time in the garden. We paid for a whale watching excursion in the morning and did the included one in the afternoon.
The bus drove us through town with some minor commentary as we went up to the base of a ski resort where we had a short stop to view the town.
From there we were driven to the Botanical Gardens where we had an hour? to wander at our leisure. It was a beautiful weekend day when we were there so there were lots of locals out enjoying the park.
Thanks Clay. So basically a coach tour but with some free time in the gardens?
BTW....Beautiful pictures, thanks for sharing. Since we are doing this cruise one week prior to you we will be sure to take good care of the Jupiter for you. (I'll also inquire as to the Pistachio Buns on the ship)

Has anyone taken this excursion? Is it a coach or walking tour? I really couldn't tell from the description. Is it worth taking? Thanks for any info.

Hopefully well before the booking date!
I booked mine last week and they were on MVJ with prices at least 2 weeks prior to my booking date. Hope that helps.

Andy, your announcement is crushing. For you, to have been brought to this point. For those of us here, who have depended on your understanding of the industry for clear, reasonable explanations of the inner-workings and who have so enjoyed your blog.
Your voice will be missed.
Ditto to that. So sad.

Thank you for responding. My sister has difficulty with walking over uneven ground so want to be able to advise her on some of the excursions. One more question, if you don't mind, are there souvenir shops near the pier? Have to have my magnet from the Faroes, lol.

We did 'The Island of Vagar' excursion in 2019. It was excellent. I hope you get into port, it's a great place to visit.
Thank you. How difficult is that excursion..?

Was that a Viking tour or one you booked independently? Thanks for the info.

If you're interested in a private tour, consider the guys below. In 2015, a different cruise line used them for a RIB tour around Nólsoy - a great tour, with spectacular scenery, wildlife and sheep that can climb vertical cliffs.
They appear to be offering a different tour now, to Hestur, but it looks equally as good.
The Faroes are stunning, but the weather is fickle - best of luck for seeing them! A teaser ... 🍺🥌
What a beautiful picture! I hope we get to put in to there also. Thank you for sharing this and thanks for the info on the private tour.

Hit enter to soon!!!! Anyone done a cruise lately that included the Faroe Islands? We you able to port there? I have read that several had to bypass that port as to rough to get in. If were able to port, what tours did you do? Were they good or just so so? My cruise is now 66 days out and trying to think of what to do there. Thanks for any info you can provide.

An update to my original post from staff on Jupiter:
--The ABBA Songbook will be folded into a show on the pool deck--a show to allow people to get up and dance.
--The Beatles show folds into a classic rock show--50s, 60s, and 70s; Stones, Fleetwood Mac, others.
--There will be a new show, Southern Sounds, which is country western.
--A second new show will be show tunes--more of a traditional production show onboard cruises.
Variety shows and guest entertainers will also continue.
I live in Nashville and not a country fan but will take that over Abba. Once was ok... not for three cruises though. Taylor Swift is here for three nights of concerts and it is a mad house 300,000 people in town for her concerts. Give me Eagles, Bob Seger, any classic rock.

Norwegian Krone. The others are not accepted. Euros are probably of more use to a Norwegian than dollars, as travel between Norway and the eurozone is fairly frequent and easy, but are of no use in Norway itself.
As in the UK, any low value euros would probably be given to a friend if whoever has them doesn't have a trip planned
Thank you for the information. Will leave my euros at home and get some Norwegian Krone through my bank.

A lot depends on the nation. In Morocco, they much prefer Euros to US dollars. Same in the Scandinavian nations, Euros were fine. Many of the guides travel to Euro nations at the end of tourist season.
So are Euros accepted in Norway? Or would it be better to use American dollars or get Norway currency?

Set up your ACH in MVJ before you pick your excursions. Then when you pick each excursion for payment you just check the account button , repeat for each excursion and you are set. Once on board , I give them a cc card for on board account , not my checking account.
Great. Thanks so much. I prefer a cc for on-board also so was wondering if I could change methods so thanks for clearing that up. There is so much great info out here and so many super people willing to help.

Yes you get the discount.
Once you go ACH you never go back. It keeps using the ACH info as you enter optional excursions later for THAT cruise. Thanks for helping clear this up for me.

I usually pay for excursions by credit card...but if I pay by ACH do I get the discount? Also do you just enter your bank information in MVJ and as you choose excursions do they automatically hit your account without you entering any payment method? Do you just keep choosing the ones you want and they automatically hit your account? You'll have convinced me this is the way to go.....so thanks so much.

We did this tour with Viking and loved it. Not only did the tour guide do a wonderful job, but the stops we made were extraordinary. We were given plenty of time at each stop also. Lunch was at a restaurant that had a farm attached and they raised their produce there. It was the best meal I had in Iceland off the ship. Sorry, I don't remember the name of the restaurant....they have an ice cream parlor below the restaurant and the ice cream was wonderful. If you go to that one...definitely get some ice cream after lunch.
