  1. Hi there, we are about to do the Pride Jan 25th and I have a couple of cabin questions:

Since its an older ship I'm wondering do they have hair blow dryers in the bathroom ( not sure if I have to pack one) - do they have shampoo and conditioner ? ( last time on the Liberty it was so nice to have a dispenser in the shower we didn't have to pack any) also are there alarm clocks in the rooms? thank-you

There is a blow dryer but it is in one of the drawers, not in the bathroom. They have shampoo and body wash in dispensers in the shower. There was not a clock, but you could request a wake up call.

  2. Thank you for the review.

A question for you - how did you find the daytime activities? Was there a variety and spread throughout the day?

We're more indoor than outdoor people - did you notice how busy the lounges and interior places were during the day?

And finally - did you spend any time in the casino? We're big slot players and I'm interested in the variety of slot machines (specifically if there is a Cleopatra machine onboard).

They have the Fun Times in your room (and copies all over the ships). It lists all the activities going on by the hour. There was a variety of activities -- we mainly did the trivia games. There was an afternoon tea on the sea days. I will say that the outside decks were the most crowded. I will try to post a copy of the Fun Times guide so you can see what I mean. When I walked through the inside lounges they were not crowded during the day. It looked like most people were having fun. We went through the casino several times during the day--again, busy, but not overly crowded. I don't know about the Cleopatra machine because I didn't use the casino. I only used my free vouchers for the cash cube. Fun but nearly impossible to win.

  3. Thanks for your review we are sailing jan 25, very excited, were on the same deck. Glad there was not much noise. Were you on ytd? Did you leave port on time?

We didn't leave on time. They had a medical emergency on the previous cruise and got into port an hour late. I was just impressed that we were able to board by noon--we had FTTF (definitely worth it!!!!) I don't remember what time we left but it was dark when we passed under the bridge. It really wasn't a big deal about leaving later because the cruise just really started for us when we got on board!

  4. I am on the Pride in 5 weeks, and been to Roatan probably 4X.....

What am I missing? I am not too fond of Roatan......

We did a private tour with Bodden Tours...private driver who took us all over the island and then to a cove with an amazing reef to snorkel in. Lunch was just a few steps over and then more snorkeling. I just thought the island was beautiful. Maybe our driver made it better but I just loved the day.

  5. We just got back from an amazing 7 days aboard the Pride! Here is a quick list of pros & cons...more review to follow!

Cabin--8275 Aft Facing Cabin. Wonderful cabin. No noise from the Serenity Deck which is right above it. Views are spectacular!

Food--We ate in the MDR every night and every morning except one. Very good menus. A couple of things really stood out--we loved the prime rib and the lobster (yes it's small, but my guys just ordered a couple each). Sea Day brunch was GREAT!!!! I wish I had taken advantage of the Suess Breakfast. It looked like a lot of fun but since my only child was 15...I wasn't sure they would have liked it as much as me :)

Entertainment--we only went to Hasbro and the 80' s show in the Taj Mahal. Hasbro was fun. 80's show was pretty good. Some singers were much better than others. We did do the adult comedy and family comedy. The first two comedians were better than the two at the end of the cruise. The first night of adult comedy was so funny, I was crying from laughing so hard!

Pools, Slide & Serenity Deck--my son & husband did the pools and slides. Loved the Green Thunder and the yellow slide. We went to Serenity and it was VERY nice. Biggest complaint--people who drop their towels and leave for HOURS and expect to come back to a chair. There were three bed cabanas on the Serenity that were used by towels only for the three hours I was there. I sincerely think that Carnival should do more about this -- at least on Serenity. There should be a better system. I think it is ridiculously RUDE of someone to drop a towel in a prime cabana bed and leave for three hours and expect to come back at your convenience and find the chair/bed still empty. Okay, enough of my rant :D

Staff--I found everyone on staff to be nice and informative. George was our Cruise Director. He was okay--a little snarky at times, but overall pretty good.

Cleanliness--I thought it was clean overall. We very rarely saw our cabin steward but our cabin was always cleaned, towel animals every night, and chocolates at turn down!

Ports--I will have an in-depth review on our ports, but I just wanted to say -- NOT ENOUGH TIME IN ROATAN, HONDURAS!!!!

So, just a quick start. If you have any questions about our cruise, just let me know!!!

  6. Did the ship have trouble tendering passengers to Belize? Is that why there wasn't enough time to do both? We have the exact excursion planned and it seemed like there would be time for both IF you were able to get off the ship as early as possible--one if the reasons I did FTTF! Was it bad weather or rough seas? Very curious about this!!!!!

  7. We liked the Ecstasy for our 5-day cruise well enough but I was ready to be done with the ship after 5 days...not sure I would want to do a B2B. Part of it may be that I didn't like Freeport (at all) or Nassau (ok, but not great). Our best day was the private island. Our last sea day was awful due to bad weather--prob the main reason I wanted off the ship. I like to experience new things too...I'd go with Ecstacy and another ship even though there would be a slight hassle of changing ships. I'd probably stay with Carnival instead of switching lines though.

  8. I'm exactly the same! I would never stay off-property at WDW, but I just can't seem to justify the cost for a cruise. They seem to be Deluxe-level only on DCL, and have forgotten that there are many people who like to stay at the Moderate or Value resorts! I wish they had cruise cabins that were the equivalent of Port Orleans Riverside, instead of interiors at Polynesian prices, and balconies that make the Grand Floridian look cheap!

Looking forward to your review! I'm interested to see if we've been missing out by using Carnival for our cruises.

We LOVE Port Orleans Riverside. We've stayed all three levels at WDW, but we just always seem to gravitate back to POR! And I think you are right about needing "Value" or "Moderate" cabins on the ships!:D

  9. As a HUGE Disney fan, I am anxious to read more. I simply couldn't justify the $7200 for a weeklong Disney cruise compared to $2600 on Carnival (extended balcony). We always stay at Disney property when we go to WDW so I am used to high prices at WDW but I just don't understand why the cruises have to be SOOOO much more expensive. I've wanted to do a Disney cruise, but my hubby says NO WAY and honestly I don't think I could ever spend that much more on a cruise to the same place!!!! So, I am waiting to see how you feel about Carnival compared to Disney!!!!

  10. I've noticed the last two departures have left LATE...Just wondering if this is a common thing? We sail in 5 weeks and I am really hoping that we are leaving the dock when it is LIGHT outside!

My husband and I were not in agreement about dinner if the cruise leaves the port late. I said that dinner would still be served on time in the MDR even if the cruise ship left late, he said that it wouldn't happen until the ship left the port. Who's right??????

  11. TRUE!

and as an FYI to any thinking about booking an aft the ones on the end (next to corner wrap) DO NOT HAVE A COUCH:mad:

I made a mistake and booked one thinking I would get more of a breeze and no couch to lounge on.

Are you talking about a couch INSIDE or OUTSIDE the cabin? We have an aft balcony right next to an aft wrap-around and I am planning on having a couch IN the room for my son to sleep on!!!!!
