Think you will feel rushed in Roatan. if not a cruise ship excursion, then you don't get first dibs to get off early and then you are in someone else's hands. I would just choose snorkeling, and plan to go back to the island.
I am starting to lean this way...just doing the snorkeling of the Tabyana Beach. We do have FTTF which would help in tendering, but I think you are right about it feeling rushed! I did want to see those monkeys though :D Thanks for your insight!

Kelle, depends on where you are going for the snorkel. I am doing my own snorkeling on Roatan in early December on the Liberty. Am taking the Carnival shuttle (Tabyana Beach Break) to West Bay. It is supposed to be one of the better snorkels from the beach.
Also looking at Capt Marvins or Acquarius SeaTours on GC, haven't decided which yet.

That's what I was wondering...really wanted to just find a nice beach to snorkel from. Do you have any idea how far out we would have to swim for the snorkeling. We are pretty strong swimmers but I don't want to spend a ton of time looking for a good place. I am going to look at what Carnival offers now for Tabyana. Thanks!

Leaving on the Carnival Pride NYE Cruise to Western Caribbean Dec 28. Never been to these places before, but here is what I have scheduled. Does this sound like a good plan/good tour operators? I really would like to have some good snorkeling for my son who loves it!
Costa Maya -- Mayan Ruins & Seven Color Lagoon
Belize City -- Zip Lining & Cave Tubing with cavetubing.bz I made a reservation initially with Butt's Up but switched over due to the lunch and pirate punch. Wise choice:confused::confused:
Roatan -- "driver" Juan Carlos tour of the island, local seafood lunch and snorkeling off the beach. I'm concerned about this as I want to make sure we can get good snorkeling here. Would I be better off just booking a snorkeling excursion. I really wanted to see the island too. We only have about 4-5 hours in port.
Grand Cayman -- Sting Ray City and snorkel tour with Captain Marvin's. I was also planning on visiting Seven Mile Beach before snorkel tour.
Do you experts have any suggestions???? I would appreciate feedback, especially about the Roatan day. Thanks!!!!

What kind of activities (besides video games) do they have? My son is not a big "gamer" so I don't think that part would interest him. I would love for him to have some fun on his own during sea days....just curious! Does anyone have a recent O2 Schedule of activities?
-
I actually have a couple of those...duh!:D Didn't even think of using them while snorkeling! I like the idea of a locker much better though. We have a "driver" scheduled for Roatan so my only worry was Grand Cayman.

My husband just orders the cheese plate from the dessert menu in the MDR and takes it back to our cabin to eat later. Just bring along baggies!
-
Just curious what you do with your stuff when snorkeling off the beach? Do they have lockers? What do you do with your passport, money & credit card???? I've never snorkeled off the beach but plan to do so in Roatan & Grand Cayman.

If the itinerary says the ship departs at 3, what time will we have to be back on board? One of our departures is at 3....doesn't give much time for port time!

I' with you Tink. It's gonna just add to the New Years party!
It's gonna be GREAT!!!!!!

One more reason to be excited for our upcoming cruise :D! Can't wait to see the Pride in December!!!!!

Just curious if Guy's would be open on Embarkation Day on Carnival Pride...I'm not a big fan of the Lido Deck buffet & would be happier with burger & fries!

After reading your review, I think I'll just have to do the magical flying chairs--the views look amazing. Do they take you to the port or beach? We are meeting our driver at the port.

Tinkerkelle -- I love this itinerary. Hopefully this will get you pumped up for your cruise! What excursions do y'all have planned?
We are doing the ruins in Costa Maya, zip lining & cave tubing in Belize, snorkeling & sting ray city in Grand Cayman and we have a driver scheduled for a Roatan to show us the island (and monkeys) and then do snorkeling!
It looks like our itinerary is a little different but enjoying all your pics & review!
-
loving the review...although we are going to be on the Pride, we are visiting the same ports so it is nice to see your pics!

My husband saw something about Hell in Grand Cayman--he is dying to go to send postcards with Hell as the postmark back to his friends. He just thinks it will be so funny. Can anyone tell me how far it is to Hell from the Cruise Port? We have a stingray/snorkeling tour at 1:45. I was hoping to go to Hell the first thing, then have a few minutes at Seven Mile Beach with pickup for Captain Marvin's at the Westin at 7 Mile Beach. We disembark at 10 a.m. Will we have time??? TIA

Ous was sold out yesterday but 1 became available today--our cruise is 87 days away!
-
When you are ready to go, you head to guest services and they will escort you to the front of the tender line.
Just noticed that 2 can available for the New Years cruise. Is that the one you are going on? I already have 8 for our cabins but for some reason I keep checking...LOL!
Yes! We are very excited...this trip is a Christmas gift (surprise) for our son! He loves snorkeling so we are snorkeling in Roatan and Grand Cayman!
We NEED to be on the first tender for Belize for our excursion which is why I purchased this. We are going on an ATV-Zipline-Cave Tubing trip!
So you must have a BIG group going on this cruise--how fun!!!!!!

FTTF just came open for our cruise so I snatched it up :D....but curious how I use it for tendering. Do we have to still go to the Lounge to get in line or is there another line for FTTF guests? Also, how early can we get to the port with this? What is the earliest for getting on the ship? Thanks!
-
Just curious if there are mini-fridges in the Balcony rooms on Carnival Pride? TIA :)

We had the most forward cabin (M2) on the Ecstasy last year. We loved the portholes because not only did you get a little sunlight and a little bit of a view, you also got the space between the wall and the porthole for storing a few things! It was a little noisy at times but I had no problem sleeping at all!
-
OMG...this post is scaring me:eek:! I have been so looking forward to our cruise on the Pride. Do you think the 2.0 upgrades will be a vast improvement to change everyone's opinion of the ship? We have only cruised on the Ecstasy which was a smaller ship and we enjoyed it very much.

I do believe it is still offered. It is listed in a copy of recent Fun Times for the 7-day Bahamas itinerary as being at 2:30pm on the second sea day (2:15 doors open. show starts at 2:30pm) and is advertised as a week-long event.
Thanks!

Did it on the Pride the Week of August 24th. Had a blast with it.
Yay! We will be doing the 7 night Western Caribbean out of Tampa, but I would assume the offerings would be the same!
Thanks!

I saw an old "Fun Times" and it had a Murder Mystery listed as an onboard activity. Does anyone know if this is something that is still offered? My son and I would LOVE to do this but I don't want to tell him something that isn't going to happen! TIA
Does This Sound Like a Good Plan?
