  1. I can't say for certain what happened or not to the windows during drydock. One person reported seeing a crane putting new windows up there - don't know if that was true or the extent of any replacement or seal repairs. Others have reported problems in some of the suites that run along the sides post-drydock.

I can't say for certain if I read anybody mention any fogging in the DOS since the drydock but then again, there typically isn't much discussion about those rooms here.

Which do you have - an inner or outer DOS? Either case, they are nice rooms and the location on 12 is handy.

    Gotcha...we're in an inner DOS

  2. The ones that have had (and still getting reports) are the rooms on 12. The OP had a OS on either 9 or 10. 12 has 4 DOS plus a variety of suites and inside rooms.

    Hi dexddd [emoji3]

Thanks much for the update...not sure why those rooms on 12 weren't taken care of during dry dock...we're in a DOS this December and are hoping the cloudy windows will be rectified soon...

Thanks again and have a great weekend!

  3. We had the "owners suit" I think it's well worth the money, lots of room. Stocked mini fridge with water and soda. Lots of snacks and other great perks that I think really make it worth the cost!

Excellent...glad to hear you enjoyed the OS!

Did you happen to take pictures? Any issues with "cloudy" windows in your OS?

I've read about the window issues and them being fixed during dry dock...wanted to see if you had cloudy windows during your cruise...

    Thanks much!

  4. Yeah. I got it for $60 when I stayed there.

    Wow!! That's a great price [emoji106]

We've narrowed choices to Hilton Riverside (parking at Fulton's garage) or The Marriott

  5. You are AH-MAZE-ING [emoji5]

Thank you sooo much for the info and pictures...

The hotel is a great deal via Hotwire at $78.00 per night, however, paying to park is something we need to take into consideration...

    YOU ROCK!

    Thanks again [emoji4]

  7. Hi Saint Greg [emoji4]

Thanks much for your help with our previous questions [emoji106]

    Wanted to ask your opinion...

Looking at the following hotel on Hotwire:

3.5-star Hotel in Metairie - Harahan - Jefferson area

    Fri, Dec 02 - Sun, Dec 04

    1 Room, 2 Adults

Could this be the Marriott hotel?

    Thanks much,

    Joy

  9. Embassy Suites Lofts I really liked. I was in a different building from the front desk. I went up a flight of stairs and there was just one other room up there. Had living room and bedroom. They had the best free breakfast I've ever had. They had everything you could imagine...including cooked to order omelets. You got 2 or 3 free drinks in the bar at night.

Riverside doesn't have free breakfast or free drinks. It has a great seafood restaurant, a great bar, starbucks, a streetcar stop outside, it's connected to the riverwalk mall where you can shop, eat, watch ships, and walk to the port. There's potential for a room with a river view.

If you don't have a car you can save cab fare by walking to the port from riverside. If you do have a car you can save a few bucks with the self park option at riverside ($25-30) vs. valet at Embassy ($38 + tip).

I've only stayed at embassy once. I liked it. I'd stay there again. But riverside is my preference. I stay there several times a year.

    Excellent! [emoji4]

    Thanks much for responding...truly appreciated!!

Decisions, decisions...makes my head hurt [emoji32]

Sounds like either hotel would be nice...Riverside is about $100 less per night and has Starbucks [emoji1] Riverside wins! [emoji106]

    Thanks much Saint Greg...YOU ROCK!

  10. Saint Greg,

Thanks sooo much for sharing your knowledge of hotels in the New Orleans area...

I've learned tons and am in the process of finalizing our hotel for December 2-4th...

Wanted to ask your opinion...Embassy Suites Lofts vs. Hilton Riverside hotel...which would you choose? Pros and Cons of each hotel?

    Truly appreciate your thoughts...

    Thanks much!

  11. Looking at the post below... Is Hotel Director - Steven Jacobsen, no longer on the Jewel? Is he on vacation?

NORWEGIAN JEWEL 24 January- 31 January:

    Captain: Niklas Persson

    Staff Captain: Marin Dobrilla

    Hotel Director: Claus Pascher

Food and Beverage Director: Mohammad Hasan

    Restaurant Manager: Noel Chaves

    Beverage Manager: Manny Hernandez

    Executive Chef: Ganesh Panjami

    Cruise Director: Tom Hopkins

  12. I was on the Jewel last week. I think he's only been on the ship for a couple weeks. He is very tall -- at least 6' 5".

I had some issues with dinner reservations that he made for my family. I made a reservation for Teppanyaki several weeks before our cruise. When I got on board the ship, I asked Hanno to make other reservations for several restaurants. Long story short, my reservation for Teppanyaki was cancelled. In the end everything got worked out -- we got a new reservation for Teppanyaki and was able to eat at all the other restaurants we wanted. Hanno really went out of his way to make it up to us. He invited us for a tour of the bridge on the last day -- it was a really great experience. The captain was in a meeting during our tour and he stepped out to talk with our group and take photos with my family.

I hope you have a great cruise, kdzkatz. You shouldn't have any problems, but if you do just be sure to let them know.

Our butler was Erlindo -- he was wonderful. Spoiled us! I'm having withdraws this week without my 3:30 pm snack that he would always bring.

  13. We had a fantastic first cruise with NCL and have booked a cruise on the Pearl to Alaska in May. We can't wait! I'm unable to edit my first post, but want to say that our minor issues were fixed right away to our satisfaction and that we couldn't have been happier with Teresa & Florentina. They were fabulous! Teresa said she will be with us on the Pearl next May and we look forward to seeing her again! This was a wonderful cruise experience despite a little rain here and there! We have only positive things to say and I'll answer any questions and post more pictures if there is anything in particular someone wants to see.

    Hi home-mom,

Thanks so much, for taking time out to post your review...

Glad to know you had a wonderful vacation, including the rain :)

We're cruising on the Jewel this Saturday (11/29) and are even more excited after reading your review :D

Thanks again for a great review...

    Have a great day!

  14. Hi brookeq,

Great review :) Goff's Caye looks amazing...

Question: snorkel equipment provided for the excursion, does it include fins? we're trying to decide if there is a need to bring any of our own snorkeling equipment...

    Thanks much!

We went thru island marketing to goffs Cate this past January. I have a full review and pictures in the link in my signature. Its under the carnival dream review.

I would recommend it. We had a great time.

    How are you?

Wanted to see if you had pictures of SC suite 11024...I've been trying to locate post dry dock pictures of the SC suites, with no success :( and wanted to see if you possibly had pictures from your cruise...

    Thanks much!

    Joy

You're welcome! Enjoy your cruise and enjoy the Jewel. We have been on her twice and had a great time both times.
