I hate to say it but unfortunately it does seem as there are those who will wait until the very last minute to report feeling ill mandating a test onboard. When I saw that my favorite cruise vloggers did this on day 6 of a 7 day cruise I was a bit saddened and disappointed. The party that was tested negative ventured outside of the cabin to bring back breakfast burritos never mind the fact that he is in close contact with a positive passenger 😢. Not to mention they didn’t bother double masking after 1 tested positive for the safety of the one who tested negative. It seems as though some vaccinated people forget that they still can get covid and transmit it to others & throw all mitigation protocols out the window. It is what it is, sad.
I also follow that vlogger and they self quarantined when the one wasnt feeling well. When taste and smell were lost they notified medical and got the respective tests. As for venturing out, that was done early on prior to testing, not after.

Booked a cruise in December that goes to Princesa Cays.
I'm Canadian with a mixed vaccine.
Guess I'm guaranteed a refund since I can't get an exemption.
Kinda of happy about this.
Pfizer and Moderna mix is okay. If you had either of those mixed with Astrazeneca, then no, you cannot cruise per the CDC

They should put holds on the boarding pass purchases until people check in for their muster.
I have heard that they have changed this recently, that your card is "locked" to purchases after one drink until muster has been completed.

It is my understanding that unless unvaccinated go on a Bubble Tour they cannot get off the ship in any port. Double check the website as the cruiselines have to abide by the protocols of the ports of call. Also the BAHAMAS has now announced that the ships cannot port anywhere in the Bahamas with any unvaccinated guests unless those guests are under the age of 12 or as an adult have to provide a medical exemption from the vaccine from their medical provider. This includes ALL private islands.

**Asking for a friend we are traveling with, my kids are fully vaxxed.**
Carnival's website is not clear regarding exactly which ports unvaccinated kids may leave the ship if not on a Bubble Tour. The Covid-19 protocols page states that unvaccinated may go ashore on their own when stopping in private ports of call "like Half Moon Cay and Princess Cays". Does anyone know if the cruise developed port areas right off the piers at Amber Cove or Mahogany Bay are open to unvaccinated kids under 12? Since both areas are restricted to ship passengers, it seems like not difference between the port area and the outdoor areas of the ship.
If anyone has sailed recently to either and can confirm yay/nay it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Is it ok to have the johnson & johnson vaccine? I keep reading you have to have two doses and this is a one dose vaccine.
I can't find where its mentioned. Has anyone been allowed on with this one?
Yes, the J & J vaccine is also accepted.

I’ve never been on HAL or Carnival but I can tell you that Celebrity has their muster drills inside. At least the six ships I’ve been on.
Our last few sailings on Carnival have all been inside muster drills. I quite possibly may depend on which ship you are sailing on.

We have been to all these islands. My husband is the scooter user and he has taken it off the ship at all these ports. We do not venture very far from the ship any more but we typically get off for a short time at least. We have never taken any type of accessibile excursion since the scooter (with the exception of St Maartin). Check with your cruiseline to see what types of accessible tours they might be offering on your sailing. Below are several links to sites with accessibility reviews (and some accessible tour recommendations) of these islands:
Grand Turk: Also has a large tourist shopping area right off the ship.

We were in Grand Turk in November 2020. Hubby uses a Pride GoGo and we went on the Island Tram for a tour of the island. They have a ramp available for wheelchairs and small scooters. We did not go to the beach, but the pool has a zero entry area without steps which was nice

When we sailed on Carnival Magic in May 2017 we stopped at Belize. Hubby uses a GoGo scooter and was able to go ashore as the tender was a double deck with a ramp and the seas were accommodating. On Carnival they announce which deck for ADA tender if it is available. The tender for Princess Cays is also a double deck tender.

Has anyone visited Princess Cays?
Yes, and it is quite nice. You get there via water shuttle/tender and lunch is included. It is a private beach day but excursions are available as well.

The British Colonial Hilton has the easiest access that you will find. It's all on one level and the exit from the lobby is less than 50 feet from the pool and beach. It's small, quaint and not a resort (business hotel) but the staff is on point and willing to help.
Good to know, thank you Scubagirrl!

Accessible cabins on Liberty have door widths of 28 inches. I would expect a width of about 24 inches on a standard stateroom.
as far as crowding the stateroom- it depends a bit on the size of the stateroom- there are several different sizes and configurations. Regardless, I would expect it to be a pretty tight fit.
DH uses a small scooter and has been in both accessible rooms and standard. Standard rooms are 22 inch width, his scooter is a GOGO which is only 20 inch wide

Went out on Friday night to a pretty new resort and used the accessible bathroom.
I was to say the least disappointed by the door. It needed to be held open when exiting. Not t easy to hold a door open and manoeuvre a wheelchair at the same time.
So it got me thinking...
I know one of our cruises had an automatic door on our cabin, it could be handy to make a list of which ships have this feature. You just needed to enter your card and the cabin door swung open automatically.
Carnival Liberty has automatic doors or at least on deck 9 they were

DH and I will be at Grand Turk in November. We are looking at the possibility of Island Tram Tour. Their site says it is about 2 hours long and all trams and trollies are accessible if needed
-
Anyone recently ride the Tram here from either Island Tram or the Rainbow Calypso Tram through the ship?
-
If you email Steve there will be a greeter with a board with your name on it to ensure you get to the right place.

Would also like to see them....sailing in November

Check the FB page for Carnival Elation. A recent cruiser posted them there with photos.
-
If you do not pre pay them, Carnival will start taking them daily. They will show up on your sign and sail as charges each day.

OK, so I checked out the reviews, as have others above.
it looks like debarkation at ports and especially the return to Jacksonville were issues that would have affected everyone. I can only say that CBP was slow for us in Dec in Canaveral, so maybe the issue with Elation in JAX is on CBP too. And as for the fog delaying a return...well...no, "hurrying back to JAX" would not have avoided that issue, as one review complained. Fog is a risk in JAX (and Tampa and Galveston) in Dec through Feb - usually late-Dec though, not right after Thanksgiving.
It also appears that several elevators were offline at times - I don't recall seeing anything about that on the main Carnival forum, but yeah, that must have been frustrating. Though it was "a total of four" reported by that one reviewer, not sure if all at one time, and since there are 12 elevators on board, it probably wasn't a huge inconvenience.
Some of the other complaints are "personal experiences", like the one reviewer who seemingly didn't really like any of the food ("the food that didnt taste like fish was okay").
On the other hand, there are more positive reviews from the same time frame, so...?
Elation will be sailing out of Port Canaveral in November 2019, so fog should not be an issue at all. Usually Port Canvaral embark and disembark is pretty smooth and Im hopeing for that as hubby and I are booked on Elation in November.

I saw this yesterday, the poster of this says he took a screenshot and printed it out just in case.

Can I bring on board a box of wine?
Answer. A1.5 liter box of wine is permitted for 2 adult guests."
So
That is correct, at least for Tampa. We took a 1.5 box instead of 2 750s with no problem last year.
