Where did you hear this?  I'm pretty sure you are incorrect.  The rules are clear.

From Carnival's Liquor and Beverage Policy:

Bringing Liquor and Beverages Onboard - Embarkation

Guests are prohibited from bringing water, sodas and other non-alcoholic beverages on board that are packaged in glass or plastic bottles.

A small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages (i.e., sparkling water, sodas, energy drinks, juice, and milk) packaged in cans or cartons may be brought on board on embarkation day and must be in the guest's carry-on luggage. A small quantity is considered a maximum of 12 sealed, unopened cans/cartons of 12 ounces each or less per person.

Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages on board with the following exception - At the beginning of the cruise during embarkation day only, guests (21 years of age and older) may bring one 750 ml bottle of sealed/unopened wine or champagne per person in their carry-on luggage. All liquor, beer, other forms of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages outside of this exception are strictly prohibited in both carry-on and checked luggage and such items will be confiscated and discarded and no compensation will be provided.

Guests sailing with us on back to back cruises are entitled to bring on board the same quantity as stated in this policy, per cruise. The additional quantities will be stored for safekeeping at the start of the first cruise and will be given to the guest as each following cruise begins.

I have taken on the smaller box wine with no issues.  We embarked in Tampa.

  2. They will tell you it must be charged. This is what happened to my DH. He then took bottle back to room and came back with a glass (full, not what they would serve). If you are doing a checked bag, then you can bring the corkscrew opener no problem. I also have brought full size scissors on our trip on the Conquest last January with no problem.

I bring along a travel corkscrew in my carry one and no one has ever said a word that I couldnt.

  3. One issue with Mahogany Bay is that they make it as diffcult as possble to take an independent excursion - you have to leave the cruise port and walk uphill to meet your tour. I much preferred Coxen Hole.

You can also take a $2.00 pp taxi ride to the outside to meet your independent tour operator. Just talk to the taxi dispatch. We have done this and then the tour operator brings you back inside the gates so you don't have to walk back

  4. We were on the May 6th sailing and we LOVED the Miracle. Our room was a mid ship balcony on Deck 4 (4173). The only "Worn" thing we saw in the room was maybe the liner for the drape on the balcony window/door. Other than that, ours had a blue multi carpet and was very clean. They did have to replace the safe door on the first day as the battery had worn out. It was the card slide type. The food was good, and was always served hot in the MDR, and the cold was cold. We didnt care for the lemon meringue pie from the Lido on first day....it was nasty...LOL The meringue was good but the pie was not. The pizza was good and the sushi on deck 2 near the coffee cafe was delicious!

  5. Hmmm, I wonder if the Miracle will have the new menu?

Check some of the recent reviews for Miracle. I could have sworn I saw someone say they still have the old steakhouse menu. I could be wrong though, wounldnt be the first time...LOL . We are on the Miracle next week so Im going to see if I can find that post as well.

UPDATE: I found the post in the reviews. As of just 3 weeks ago it was still the old menu for steakhouse and the deli.... Yay

  6. Our Fun Shop Purchase was in a box. Our bottle from Tropicante (Mahuhual -Costa Maya) and our bottles from John Wattling (Nassau, Bahamas) were wrapped in paper packaging and we carried them to the ship. The Dufry shops and some others will box if delivering to ship for you. It has also been our experience that shorter cruises you have to pick up your liquor on disembarkation morning from a set location. Bring your paper receipr from when you turned in the bottles for those you carried onboard. They will match your folio number from your sign and sail as well as your room number and name when picking up.

  7. Another vote for the Tropicante! Had a great time there as well as some good food and drink. The Owner, Steve, will save you loungers and a table for your visit if you email him ahead of time. Note: You dont have to email him, but it guarantees you a spot when you get there! Great way to spend a few hours!

  8. We went to Tropicante last February when we sailed on the Magic. The service and food was outstanding and Steve, the owner/manager is a fantastic host! We will be going there again on our next Costa Maya stop. You can email Steve ahead of time. Check our their website at tropicante ameri-mex grill dot com.

  9. Initially we were very nervous about booking Bodden because 1. we had never been to Roatan 2. never-ever boooked an excursion without going through the ship. It was a wonderful day! Our guide watched the time and made certain we made it back to the ship. $40 pp for the day is well worth it. Our guide was very accomodating to ensure we had the perfect day. Hope you have a wonderful time!

We contacted Victor Bodden for our My 6th Cruise. Upon return after you day were you returned to the taxi area inside the port or were you dropped outside.
