  1. Glad to hear you finally got this resolved...Princess should not have made it so difficult.  Good evidence by the way.  Last year and this year I printed out Special Services Order Summary...shows all Gifts (from Princess) and prepaid packages/services and total paid.  Also received emails from Princess acknowledging receipt of payments.  We shouldn't have to but will print them out and bring them with me on the ship in case they charge me for something I already paid for in advance.  We have been lucky, have not had any billing/folio issues.  One thing I really do like about the app is being able to check our charges on a regular basis without having to go to a machine and get a printout.

  2. To the OP...glad you were able to get your original cabin back.  We too are very particular about our cabin choice and always have it noted no upgrade by our CVP.  One year we did get notice of an upgrade but I was able to get it switched back...not sure what happened there.  So I thought now you had to bid for upgrades if you want them...or is Princess still giving free upgrades?

True your last sentence.  Did the reservations remain the same right up to getting on the ship, or did they change in the App?  How were they not honored?  Did you have to wait each night for a table to open or were you directed to a different DR?

Yes, the reservations never changed....I booked a table for two at the same time every night in the same dining room.  Showed up at our reserved time the first night, waited in line, were asked if we wanted to share a table, told them we already had reservations for two but apparently they were not using the App reservations.  I think we waited a little for a table for two.  Second night, same scenario, again asked did we want to share..again told them we had a reservation, this time brought my phone to show them on the App, waited awhile, then got a table.  We inquired about the issue with the waiter and he said we would need to speak with the head waiter...we did...we then got our standing reservation for the duration of the cruise, same table, same waiters, were motioned to walk in, your table is ready.  Our reservation was for 8 pm each night.  I understand the first night or two is hectic in the MDR.  It is just irritating that you are offered the early reservation perk and then it turns out they don't seem to have the reservation (thats what I mean by not being honored).   Moved our time up to 7 pm this year.  We have always done 8 pm but now that we are getting older feel we need to dine earlier....hope it wall works out.  We always did anytime, never traditional, always table for two...I am allergic to certain perfumes which can really ruin dinner...ugh.  We do enjoy others company and conversation at breakfast and lunch in the buffet...easier to make an excuse to move if there is a perfume issue

  4. Anyone know if they are actually honoring the reservations made thru the app when booking over 10 months ago....last year on the Enchanted Princess I pre-booked all our dining reservations only to find out they were basically worthless.  After a few nights we were able to straighten it out with the MD and get exactly what we had originally reserved.  My feeling is - don't offer me the perk of pre-booking my dining reservations early as a platinum member and then tell me when I show up you are not honoring the reservation.  I'd rather not have the perk and go back to calling each morning to get a reservation for that evening.

"Choose from one-device or four-device packages starting from just $14.99 USD. Packages are available with additional savings as part of our Princess Plus and Princess Premier Packages. They can also be purchased pre-cruise and on board through the MedallionClass app. Platinum and Elite guests get an exclusive discount of 50% off*.

Thanks for the confirmation, we are platinum and last year we had to book the wifi only before boarding to guarantee our 50% off....we don't use it much...so miss the 250 fee minutes each which was way more than enough for the two of us...our time to unplug!

  6. So I have a question...we usually pre-order the water package (12 bottles) and 6 canned soda package.  The water is always delivered and in our cabin when we board.  We have to call room service to get the 6 cans of soda redeemed/delivered...so will we have to pay the $5.00 room service fee to have the pre-ordered/prepaid cans of soda delivered after we board.  I can only assume the reason they don't pre-deliver the soda cans is because they wait to find out which soda's you want, i.e.  6 cans of coke.  Although I don't know why the website can't just be set up to allow you to order the exact soda's you want and they too could be in the room when you arrive.

This conversation got me curious to see what Princess actually says about this in  its Terms and Conditions for the package and it says the following:

One guest’s participation in Princess Plus may be dependent on the other guest in his/her stateroom’s participation, as determined by booking method. Princess Plus is contingent on ship capacity and only available on select voyages, while capacity lasts.

So it's very poorly worded since it uses the word "may", but the indication is that the participation is determined by the booking method and one could surmise that if you are booked with another person in the cabin, you both must sign up. But it surely is not clear and very badly stated. I also thought it was interesting that it does appear to be capacity controlled as someone else had stated here and so I guess there is a possibility if you don't pre-purchase you might get onboard and find it sold out?

Since there is an age requirement to purchase the package, I guess the word "may" might be to cover bases if someone was traveling with an underage child who is not eligible for the package and perhaps they allow for a single purchase in those circumstances. But I could see where people would find this confusing.

Yes...definitely leaves it open to interpretation..."One guests participation may be dependent on other guests participation depending on booking method"...hmmm

  8. Wow, I think I will be on the phone to my CVP again to verify what she previously told me...made me believe that I could purchase the Princess Plus Package (including wifi, gratuities and drink package) on board for just one passenger (my husband) at the same price offered precruise - $60.00 per day.

Better yet, maybe I should email her and get it in writing.

Appreciate everyone's help on this subject.

I don't think so but if you do be sure to let us know. It would be much better in our case also.

Used to be there was the option to purchase the drinks package for only one person in cabin.  Maybe its a perk for longtime platinum and elite cruisers???

Please look into this again.  The problem is with the terminology used by Princess.  There is the Plus and Premier package cruise fare, which includes drinks, wifi, gratuities and other stuff as outlined by Princess.  This fare must be paid by both cabin occupants.  You can buy these packages onboard, with all the inclusions and must be purchased by both,

However, you can also purchase onboard the Plus and Premier beverage package, which is for drinks only and with no inclusions.  This can be purchased by one person in the cabin.  Unfortunately, the cost of the beverage package on its own is comparable to the cost of the inclusive Plus and Premier packages.  The difference is that not everyone in your cabin needs to purchase it.  It can get very confusing, so I apologize if I haven’t made it crystal clear.

@Steelers36 did a great job recently breaking this down and he said it much better than I did.

Thank You.  I do totally understand the difference between the drink packages only vs the Plus Package which includes the drinks, gratuities and wifi.  My CVP has been with me for quite awhile.  She indicated the only way to purchase the Plus package for one person in stateroom would be to purchase it onboard, otherwise as part of our cruise fare it would have to be purchased by both of us.    She indicated it must be purchased the first day and that their will be people all over the ship selling it.

This will be our 12th Princess cruise.  Since we usually do not purchase any plus or drinks package, maybe we will just take our chances and see what happens on board.

Easily avoided by waiting to order/pay until on board.

My Princess Cruise Vacation Planner told me if we wait to purchase on board, we can get the Plus package for just one of us, if we book it with our fare pre-cruise we have to get it for both of us.  We usually pay as we go on all cruises for everything but the Plus package may be worth it for Hubby, who likes to drink.  I do not drink much so not worth it for me when doing the math.

Oh NO!!! I am truly dismayed to hear that. I live in California and really good lobster is, shall we say, "difficult" to obtain. The best I ever had was at a company Christmas dinner. It was a small company and the owner had booked a dining room in a local steak house. He had the head cook come in special for the evening and had some absolutely HUGE lobster tails flown in. I have never in my life tasted lobster like that. It was beyond wonderful. (My wife ate half of hers, took the other half home, and then took it to our oldest son's house and shared it with him the next day. Like I said, HUGE.)

I have always heard that Bar Harbor is a great place to get lobster. You have shattered my dream.  (I may have to go off and cry for a while now... :classic_ohmy:). Sooooooo.... If the Bar Harbor lobster was terrible where do you suggest we eat on a New England cruise for the best lobster? (Do you suppose it may just have been the particular venue? If so, can you tell me what it was so I can avoid eating there?) I really do need to eat fantastic lobster at least one more time.

Plenty of Lobster Pounds in Maine..pick out a live lobster and they will steam it for you on the spot
