  1. It wasn't my intention to hurt any feelings. My dad, brother, etc. hate it when myself or my mother try to tell them what to wear. Your hubs might be different. I would be extremely offended, but I am neither a man, nor your man. [emoji6]

  2. If your husband is anything like the men in my life then he would probably be happiest picking out his own attire. To answer your question though, white is a classic color.

  3. I did a carryon and a small tote for my Med Cruise last year and will do the same for the Med in 2016 as I do not relish planes, trains, and automobiles with big, heavy, luggage. I leave for Alaska in a week though and as much as I would like, I have to check a bag due to the amount of rain gear, base layers, fleece, cameras, hiking gear, etc that I need to take, rendering it impossible.[emoji17] Cruise Critic Member ducklite has an awesome list for just about every climate. She has some great ideas. Also you can do a search as others have suggested.

  4. Not only is date important with white but latitude matters too. My wife said no white dinner jackets in Alaska.

Unless one is cruising a very formal line, I doubt you will see very many dinner jackets in Alaska at all. People just don't get dressed up- too busy soaking up the fantastic scenery.

  5. Go for it! I agree that it is one of the colors of the Carribean. Anyone that would point out white after Labor Day while on a Caribbean Cruise when the point is to be on a fun ship relaxing needs to mind his/ her own business and stop concentrating on what other people are doing. Have fun, wear white, and enjoy your cruise! [emoji1]

  6. Thank you.. We have been on Princess and Royal Caribbean as well as Carnival- I will check them out. I liked that Carnival had shorter Mediterranean cruises- we can add a few extra days to the beginning and end that way. I'll keep researching.

I did cruise RCL a couple of years ago and they went to

    Barcelona, Spain

    Marseilles, France

    Nice, France

    Florence/Pisa, Italy

    Rome, Italy

    Naples, Italy

    Ends back in Barcelona

We spent extra days in Spain, both Barcelona and Madrid. Perhaps they have a different 7 day itinerary that is based more out of Trieste or Venice and that would work for you. Italy is indeed beautiful! Can't wait to see it again in May [emoji1]

  7. Post #5... I took your response to indicate we weren't smart enough to read entire post. If it wasn't meant in that way, I apologize and please forgive me. But A LOT of people here seem to think they know everything, about everything and if you stray from what they think they know it's implied your an idiot. Those people wonder why you even asked that silly question or that question has been asked a 100 times before, SEARCH IT. They don't take into consideration it could be the posters first cruise or first time on CC. Those people would argue with a fence post. CRUISE ON!!!

I didn't see the second part of the post either. I agree with most of the above. I guess the place has Critic in it for a reason. OP could have been trying to be helpful, but who knows? Just wanted to say that I get where you are coming from.

  8. As far as Carnival goes, the Vista will be sailing in the Mediterranean in 2016 on the Vista then will do a transatlantic and eventually end up in Miami ( correct me if I'm wrong) so no more cruises on her to the Med. Her sister ship, which has yet to be named will come on in 2018, and will travel the Med for awhile and likely do a transatlantic and then travel the Caribbean or Mexico ( somewhere Carnival is known for) If your eyes are set on Europe for next year, I would suggest Princess or Holland America - still under the same company as Carnival, maybe a bit pricier, but many more options. I have found some great deals with Princess for Europe sometimes cheaper. I say this all the while loving Carnival.

  9. Received a call from the upsell fairy while we were on a non cruise vacation. They left a voicemail with an extension to get in touch with them. We were upgraded from a regular balcony to an Ocean Suite on the Legend. This was about 40 days out.

  10. We rode horses on the beach at Half Moon Cay. It was awesome! Went to Margaritaville at Grand Turk and danced with the party people![emoji322] Went to the Coach Outlet in St. Thomas as well as other shopping because our snorkeling was canceled. Plenty to do.

  11. nivrag,

(hugs) My Mom felt the same way after my Dad passed.

This is a personal decision you must make, but I certainly hope you decide to sail and have a great time. Like all "firsts" after a spouse passes away, you will feel the impact.

If you want, have a good cry and then laugh away the tears when you think of a wonderful memory. You are entitled. Stand along a deck, look into the sunset and lift a glass of champagne (or cup of coffee!) to your beloved. She certainly would have wanted you to enjoy your time. No doubt, you will meet some great people along the way.

I wish you well with your plans, whatever they may be.

    Beautifully said
