We ate in Moderno while on the Norwegian Jewel last week in Alaska and had the best side dish. I can't remember what it was though. It looked like a French-fry and I think it was some sort of root vegetable. I would like to make this at home. Does anyone know what they served? All I can find is the Fried Banana and I know it wasn't that. Or I might be totally wrong on that one. Any help would be great.

I think you are referring to the fried yuca. They were one of the four side dishes brought out the others I believe were rice, mashed potatoes, and sauteed mushrooms.

  2. Hmmm, having cruised (we cruise once a year) in all categories of cabins since 2004, I have enjoyed all of my cruises except celebrity in 2004, (those were the days of having to dress up in formal wear and sit with new friends, strangers), I really enjoyed that one too but once we tried NCL freestyle, that suited our likes better.

We have only cruised in the Haven twice. It is very expensive, but the food, the service, the experience is just over the top!

I hope that I wasn’t putting my nose in the air; only trying to share my experience. Yes we did enjoy the Haven restaurant and Haven spaces a lot.

We did do 2 rounds of the go carts. It was super fun! I wanted to do the water slides and loops. They look fantastic. I should have done them when it was hot. By the time I got the nerve up, it was cold. I have a fear of heights and as you can see we are big people and I had a little fear of getting stuck.

Instead we thoroughly enjoyed the spa (which is why we chose the cabin we did).

I think cruising is a great experience for a lot of people specifically because there are so many choices of how you want to spend your hard earned time and money and how you want to experience YOUR particular cruise.

I love people’s reviews of their vacation experiences and thought that I would write a semi live review of our great Bliss trip.

I thoroughly enjoyed your review. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your wonderful vacation with us.

Talked to Nicholas personally tonight. Yes, he remembers you. He says “her name was Sharon, she gave me a friendship ring” he remembers making vegan dishes; and yes he will be on your next cruise!!!

My sister Sharon is a vegan and Nicholas made her some wonderful vegan dishes when we were in The Haven on the Escape last December. We will be back this year on the Bliss and I know she will be so excited if Nicholas will be there.

  5. I thought I had included a picture of executive chef Nicholas9b5c262fd78691d4c5abfe30d014fcfb.jpg

If you see Chef Nicholas again in the Haven Restaurant could you please ask him if he will be on the Bliss November and December TIA. Thank you so much for your wonderful review.

  6. Question.... the bed n the “second bedroom”..... how big does it open up. Can two people fit on it comfortably?

In December I stayed in the H4 2 bedroom on the Escape. The second bedroom has a couch that can be pulled out to accommodate two people. It looked to be the size of a double bed.The room also has a twin bed that pulls down from the ceiling if needed. So technically that second bedroom could sleep three people.

  7. We were recently on Harmony and had the soda package (perk with our Boardwalk cabin). Seems like nothing but problems using the freestyle machine with either the machine itself or the chip in the cup. Much easier to just get the soda from any bar and at least the glass given was clean and I didn't have to carry the cup around with me everywhere...How many times I would see these cups in the public restrooms.

RCI should come up with a better solution with the freestyle machines...perhaps clean (bar type) glasses stacked by the machine instead of those "souvenir chip cups" and just swipe your SeaPass card to get your drink. JMHO

I have to agree with you. The thought of carting around this giant cup all over the ship is very unappealing.

  8. The soda cup is required only for the Coke Freestyle machines. If you are fine with the 6 or so choices from bars and restaurants, you don't need the cup, you just need your Seapass

I was thinking the agent was wrong about this. I am guessing my sea pass card will have something on it indicating I have the soda package.

Thank you for your reply. Much appreciated.

  9. This will be my first cruise on RCCL. I will be going on Harmony of the Seas in October. I have pre purchased the soda package. Is the soda cup only necessary at the buffet. Will I need to carry the soda cup to bars and restaurants in the evening. RCCL agent said I would have to always have the cup with me wherever I went to get soda. Sounds ridiculous, hoping this is not true. It would never fit in my evening clutch. TIA

  10. New to NCL. If I purchase 2 certificates for $500 and charge to account, NCL adds an additional $250 to my OBC Account. Will this then leave my balance at $250 ?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Yes. You will have 2 cruise next certificates worth $250 each. Your account will show a $250 obc. You will only owe $250 on your credit card for the $500 you spent on the certificates.

  11. Just wondering if any one knows how long the walk is from the haven H7 on the escape to the elevators approximately?

Also, any other input on the H7 cabin is appreciated!

    Thanks :)

We had friends who stayed in the H7 (Haven forward facing penthouse) deck 11 on the Escape in December. It is as far forward as you can go, so it is a bit of a walk. You can check out the deck plans for the Escape and count how many rooms. However once you get to the forward elevator it is up to deck 17 for the Haven Courtyard and restaurant.

  12. Yes, thank you. We both have the UBP and I ordered for a stupid amount of money water bottles but Im specifically asking about the vending machines. I appreciate your letting me know.

Does anyone know about the vending machines (if there are some) in Miami port for Getaway that are in the seating area and if they are there do they take bills, coins, credit card or all?

    Thanks so much!

I was on the Escape in December. The Coke vending machine was in the terminal C waiting area where we were sent after clearing security and checking in. It seemed like many Coke products were in that machine. I saw people put bills into the machine. I don't know whether it took credit cards or not.

  13. I believe you go to the cruise next desk by 9 pm on first night and they will tell you then

I know how busy that first day and night is at guest service. Just thought it might have been on facebook or FAQ and I missed it. Thanks for the reply. 😊
