  1. Frankly, I'm shocked to hear that other ships have come across with no paying passengers. It seems like such a wasted opportunity.

I think that you have to think about it from a company view point. This is a new ship, with new features and a staff that is not accustom to the new ship. So instead of rushing to get things done and have a staff rush to get used to the lay of the new land and potentially have negative reviews and negative feed back from a new multi million investment from its first passengers. They are likely taking the time to really get used to the new ship, get all the kinks out, make sure its 100% ready for its inaugural/ holiday season. The hype on this ship is large and expectations are high I am sure they want a successful first impression. Also, there seems to be a lot of new technology on this ship, with tablets that control every aspect of your room. I am sure there will be hiccups and tech revamps and modifications which are always timely. With other new builds in a class of ship that already exists, its an easier transition where the foot print and most details are the same.

  2. Yes, that's what I figured - would rather not have that view if I can be on the hump for the same price!

Looks like all A1s on the hump area are taken. There are A2s further towards the back on Deck 9. 9253 and 9254 are available and on Deck 10 most of the A2s starboard aft are available. If you are dead set on being on the hump and do not care about being in Aqua there is a C3 11212 on deck 11 on the hump. As well as an E3 on Deck 7 7224.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Celebrity's website is not showing a sailing for Edge on 12/16/18. The first one available is 12/23/18. Would be interested in booking the inaugural whenever it might be.

Since there are few rooms left, use costco travel -> cruises to find and easily view all available rooms. Here is the link but you might want to re-search when you go, to find the most up to date rooms available before you book on celebrity's website. I use this as celebrity's site only shows 5-6 available rooms at a time. Here you can see all available rooms on all levels and categories at one time.

  4. I was initially put into 9241 (Aqua Class 1) which when I looked at the deck plans and booking on Celebrity's website, it said that the balcony is partially obstructed! Can't believe they'd have obstructed views for Aqua Class. I don't know if it's a true obstruction or more because there is a 'hump' in the middle next to that cabin that you can't peek out and look forward at all.

It is because of the 'hump' to the right of your room. Its more of a bump-out than a hump. So I assume you wont be able to see to the right of your room. There are similar rooms on the MSC Divina. Below is a picture from the balcony in one of those rooms. I hope this helps.

  5. The infinite balcony cabins are designated as such and that designation isn't attached to the Aqua Cabins.

(I copied the list below of the cabin designations - it's clearer here: https://www.celebritycruises.co.uk/getmedia/e4d5f423-f5ae-4d84-ac11-6133c76b12d7/CelebrityEdgeDeckPlans.pdf?ext=.pdf

    A1, A2, C1, C2, C3, E1-5 & ES all have the infinite veranda

SV, 1A and 1B do not. This has been confirmed by many on the this site and by me by speaking to multiple people on the phone and supervisors at celebrity. If you look closely at the deck plan this can easily be confirmed by the little marks in the corners of each balcony. By looking over the deck plans it seems the infinite balconies are in all locations of 'normal' (as in size) balcony rooms and where they cannot be placed is due to the design of the ship. ie, aft balconies and those near the very front. You'll notice, if you have watched or seen the various videos and photos that the 1A and 1B at the front of the ship will be the circular balcony openings that can be found on the Millennium class.

  6. Hi Ccod,

Please take this with a grain of salt - as this is only Day 1 of the Edge reveal.... but I'm hearing the Aqua & Concierge will have the Infinity verandas. I also heard that categories 1A, 1B and SV will not offer them.

My best advice is to give it a few days, and hopefully, we will know what is fact, and what is not.

    Hope this helps !

This is exactly what was told to me on the phone by various celebrity agents. I am also booked in a Aqua class and have been told that it is an infinity veranda. Also, based on the deck plans you can clearly see the difference between all balcony cabins and 1A, 1B and SV. They appear different while A1 and A2 appear the same as the E-1-E5. Here is the deck plan link:

  7. A lot of it is stuff I expected - not necessarily looked forward to but expected. :(

7 day itineraries, an upgraded and whole separate experience for suites (lounge, pool, dining room and area of the ship) and no more Aqua class. :(

I'm glad the Solstice class is still around.

EDIT: I stand corrected. Someone posted there is still Aqua class.:D

Yes, There is still Aqua. I am booked on the Dec 30th sailing in an aqua class cabin.

  8. Just a heads up for any American citizens traveling to the EU starting this summer. We may need to obtain a Visa to visit.

    http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2017/03/02/518129824/eu-parliament-seeks-to-reinstate-visas-for-american-travelers

    To sum it;

With the US not allowing citizens from Cyprus, Poland, Croatia, Bulgaria and Romania to use the Visa Waiver program, The European parliament called on the EU executive to force Americans to apply for Visas before the summer season begins.

Will it happen? Who knows, but stay informed so your travel is not affected.

  9. We are on the westbound TA on the Reflection which gets into Ft. Lauderdale on November 3rd. What time should be choose our flight home to Phoenix? Should I allow more time than usual because of possible custom delays? Is 9:30 too early? Any recommendations are appreciated

  10. I don't think anyone would assume that the new Edge Class ships will look anything like an 80s Carnival ship, so he's got no worries there. What I think people were trying to point out was nowhere on any of the press releases does it state that he's designed anything on the ships.

Assume that you are a very popular person in your profession. A person that is in very high demand and a person yields a large sum of money to even make an appearance, to say these curtains over those, or this lamp shade over that one. I can bet that you are not going to put your name on anything unless you have a say in some of it and it reflects your work.

No, Celebrity has not revealed that Nate Berkus has designed any public space on the new Celebrity edge. In fact, Celebrity releases very little details at all until last minute. They stay vague to keep interest high. But its common sense to assume that he is having a say in something. Your utter resistance to even try to understand that he is going to have something to do with the interior design of the public spaces in ludicrous. Again, he does not make appearances to just announce things. He is an interior designer that is highly reputable and desired due to his modern design aesthetic.

  11. The headline from this cruise publication doesn't mention him designing anything on the ship? It states that X have hired him to introduce the new Edge Class https://www.cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/16280-celebrity-hires-designer-nate-berkus-to-introduce-new-edge-class-ships.html

Surely X would be shouting from the hilltops he was designing anything on the new ships - even if it was only the GS desk :D.

Celebrity cruises is known for being vague and releasing very few details. A world renowned designer would not put his name on anything that he didn't have a say in.

"Oh here is this brand new ship.... This is what it is going to look like... look at these great designs... Isn't is beautiful?? ...Oh I had nothing to do with it"

That doesn't happen when you are active and successful in your profession. That happens when you are retired, washed up and need money. Not the case for Nate.

But we will see. Check back for a "told you so!" in March

  12. I know your post was written at the same time as mine but if you read the PR they don't say he is designing anything on the ship.

Right. They are just having a world acclaimed interior designer do the PR but he is not going to be assisting, inputting or having any influence on the any interior designs or decorations? Even though they have publicly announced a "partnership" with him, released comments on their similarities in design aesthetic, and released an official photo if him with the celebrity logo... oh and paid him money for the partnership.

    Go on and think that.
