  2. We are on the Gem in August and our daughter was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease just 3 weeks ago. We have always known a whole bunch of people whose kids are "gluten sensitive" so hadn't realised that full blown Coeliac Disease is so serious (our daughter ended up in emergency and being admitted to hospital for 2 days because she was so ill...).

     

    Anyway, I called and spoke to the reservations dept the other day and asked them to mark down the new diagnosis and the need for gluten free food. The agent put a note on the file and forwarded an email separately to the special requirements department as well. We were told that we also need to see the catering director soon after boarding to confirm the requirement.

     

    I'm hoping it all goes smoothly...

  3. Quick update. I ended up calling the helpdesk number as I had paid my service charge, it was showing as paid in one section and not paid in another.

     

    Turns out there was some glitch in the payment and as it hasn't appeared on my credit card and wasn't showing in their system as paid, I paid it "again" over the phone. Received my full confirmation by email before I was even off the phone.

     

    Am happy now that everything is sorted. Wish I hadn't had to sit on an international call... But no big deal in the sum of things.

  4. Golfin55 - you have no idea what stress is in my life. Sometimes when people are overloaded with it, we assume everything will go wrong and it will be major.

     

    At least there was a solid reason for my writing here.

     

    And I know many on here are experts, and might be able and happy to provide a quick free comment that will mean I don't have to make an international call.

     

    Anyway, on with my day here downunder where it now just morning (away from the board - yes I do have a life...)

  5. We are 108 days out from our cruise on Gem, and when I sign into MyNCL today and look at My Vacation Summary I can no longer see any of my payment details.

     

    I'm accessing via my mobile which I have always done with no problem. Now they seem to have updated it as a mobile site - and no payment details available. I've fully paid, but would still like to see my outlay!

     

    Is anyone else having the same issue?

     

    Other thing is that we are booked in a Haven Suite and now there's a large daily service charge showing (the only money detail showing) that I can nominate to prepay. I thought there was some additional charge we didn't pay in a suite. Is that it? I'm so confused...

  6. There's a number listed on their website for calling if you have special needs / disability. Look that up and call them? They do say on there that they endeavour to provide what they can to make a person with disability's cruise more enjoyable.

  7. Yep. I've done the update today with my PCC. They cancelled and rebooked our 2bdrm Haven cabin. Lost 1 day SDP (now 3 instead of 4) but gained $300 OBC that was split as $150pp for the first 2 people in the cabin. The exchange rate had also changed so I saved a little more on that too. But my final payment date for our August sailing did change from May to April as well...

  8. Also, if you book through the Australian site you don't get a refund as your booking is under Australian refund laws. That's why I book direct through my original NCL PCC and force my browser away from the Australian site.

  9. There is an Excursions Department you can call. I called them from here in Australia and they answered very promptly and helped me book excursions that then showed up in my online account. They also emailed me the confirmations.

  10. I work in research in this area... And my mother died of dementia in Nov last year. I highly recommend visiting the website of Alzheimers Australia if you want more information about early signs of dementia (which has about 6 different forms) which can include aggressive and nasty behaviour.

     

    This time next week there will be a launch in Canberra of the first Australian clinical guidelines for dealing with diagnosis, treatment and care for people with dementia. I'll be in Canberra for the launch.

     

    A cruise ship is obviously not the place to get a diagnosis. Sounds like the staff put supervision in place to protect all involved as much as possible...
