  1. Donning my flame suit because I know how things go but I swear I've searched.

The wording for what Carnival includes is kind of vague and I was wondering if anyone could clarify, are you allowed to use Cruise Cash toward the required gratuities?

  2. Not showing up at the assigned time puts the rest of your table in an awkward situation. I recommend requesting a table to yourselves or opting for Anytime Dining.

Just FYI, Anytime Dining is often used as a generic term on these boards. ;)

So here's what I think the solution is. Asking the Maitre'd when on board for our own table. And then I'm guessing if that is not possible just asking to switch to Anytime Dining. Would there be no issue with that?

Thanks everyone for your help! I am exceptionally naive with all of this.

  3. Bonnie J is correct, we are on Carnival, that is why I said Anytime Dining (also my Sig shows it's a carnival cruise) so no need to jump on people. More concerned with help than with semantics. Bonnie you've really hit my issue, we have the dietary needs that would make a set time ideal but we like the flexibility of YTD and are planning on eating at other establishments.

This question may clinch it... If we went with a set time would others have to wait for us to order? I don't want to be rude and keep people waiting!

  4. Bowing before everyone's superior wisdom here. I think I'm WAY more confused now!!!

It's our first cruise, I don't want to make people wait for us, but with specialty diet consistency of staff would be nice. So here's a question, would anytime be better for us? Like I said, don't want to make people wait, want to have choices, ideally want a table for two, etc.

I'm sure I'll get 500 different pieces of advice but I'm super stumped on this one.

  5. We're doing our first cruise, my wife is pretty introverted and so we definitely want to try and get a table for two. What it's sounding like is maybe we should have gone with Any Time Dining instead of a set-seating. Catch is we really like the idea of having a set wait staff & things especially as my wife has dietary requirements. Should we be switching or just hunt down the Matre D?

We won't be eating in the MDR every night but certainly want to do it at least once!

  6. Ive done Megabus also and definitely recommend

great price to get between major cities

Wifi could be a little more consistent thou

I usually go in the evening so it's not as packed for wi-fi. I used to sit right at the top up the front so I have a table, but I-10 is a bit too bumpy for that these days.

  7. The buses out of Houston are very regular to San Antonio. Done the Megabus a few times (what, I don't drive & I'm cheap) and to be honest, I'd never fly from San Antonio to Houston, it's not even a 4hr drive these days with the highway speeds in TX. We'll be driving to Houston the day before our Galveston cruise.
