  1. We are 2-for-4 in hitting, or missing, Half Moon Cay. The last time we missed it (on, I think, Holland America) the captain spent the better part of an hour trying to anchor securely. He repositioned the ship a few times, but finally gave up. If I recall, that day was sunny and windy. Lots of whitecaps.

I, too, am Glory-ing on Saturday, so I hope to see you on board, and I hope to see you on HMC! :D

Update: Forgot to say... As we sailed away from HMC after they announced we weren't staying, I looked over towards some other islands and I could see another cruise ship! Pretty sure it was a Princess ship at Princess Cays (on Eleuthera, which is pretty close to HMC). NO FAIR!!! They got their private-island day and we didn't! Boo! :(

Are you excited as I am and ready to go? THis should be a fun and exciting cruise. We will be arriving around 11pm in the port trying to check in. Have you looked at the weather for all the other ports? How is it looking, someone said it appears we are going to have a very windy and rough seas cruise, but I disagree.

Lets cross our fingers and toes! Hey, if they skip it maybe they will re-route us to Nassau or Freeport, id like to see those places too. Not sure how that works.

I know you want to know if it will be skipped, but nobody here can tell you. As I said, if conditions are bad when you get there, it will be skipped.

There are lots of things that go into a decision and a forecast of the weather today, does not mean that will be what it actually is when you get there.

If they can make it, they will. If they decide when they get there conditions are bad, they will skip it.

Add a guess, I would say if the forecast stays the same and nothing else is going on, you will make it.

It is like when they used to go to Cancun. They made the port about 75% of the time, but I was never on a ship that made it, so we finally just flew down for a week. Never been back, but our hotel was excellent.

Wonderful, thank you I appreciate it

  3. We are 1/3. Cancelled once for a hurricane but they knew ahead of time and we did other ports. This year, the weather was good and we got there but the seas were too choppy so we got there but had to leave. We had a sea day.

I promise it sounds like im really worried, but im more curious and trying to understand. So when they pulled away what were the conditions like if you remember? Was the wind speed higher than 25mph? I would THINK anything higher than 30mph, but less than 25mph, cant be that bad.

Its the northerly winds you have to watch out for. But I could be wrong. Thank you again, I am soo new to crusing and my GF is soooo excited about HMC, I honestly think we will be okay, just getting a second opinion

  4. we missed hmc last month! I think last month it was a 50/50 chance making it in there! just hope for the best!:)

If you don't mind, do you remember the conditions of Half moon cay? What the weather report or anything read? Just curious

The rain won't be an issue. The wind might be, since this is a tendered port. No way to know for certain ahead of time. Good luck. I hope you don't have to miss HMC.

Thank you, I appreciate it. I just looking for a best educated quess if the frequent cruisers think we will be skipping it. Just have no clue what 25mph winds mean in the Carribean and the fact that its Easterly matters. Ive heard this is everyones favorite port, so full of hope here.

  5. So I have a concern for my upcoming cruise this week. My gf and I are going on a 7 day cruise on the Carnival Glory from tomorrow and coming back the following Saturday. I was reading the weather and we are supposed to be tendering at Half Moon Cay Sunday. MY concern is this, the predicted weather Sunday is a 25percent chance of rain in the afternoon and 20-25mph easterly winds according to Google.

Do you frequent cruisers think we will be skipping HMC or No? Please honest and let me know. Im not sure about cruises and winds that speed, that seems really high. Thank you again

  6. Ill be on the ship with you on Glory. Ive been waiting over a year for this cruise, I am really excited. I am not too worried about this weather. I am staying hopeful because I think the 10 day forecast is based on this Tropical Storm Kate that is alittle north of the Bahamas as we speak.

By next week it will be totally gone and I feel the forecast will clear up. One more thing to note, I checked HMC two days ago (before Kate) and it said only 15 percent chance of rain and not much wind. Now I checked it says, 75 percent chance of rain and 20mph wind. SO this means Friday will be back to good for us. Just my two cents

  7. So, I have a question for all my fellow "expert" cruisers out here please. I am going on a Carnival cruise this weekend on Carnival Glory. I am packing during this week and wondering. Does Carnival have any "color" theme parties. IE; As in NCCl "White Hot Party" or RCCL white party. Ive heard there is one where everyone wears red, but im not sure.

If anyone has any details on dressing for theme parties on my cruise this weekend, a 7 day eastern cruise, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

  8. So, this might come off as a dumb question, so please excuse me. This will be only my third cruise and im still learning the ropes to everything. I have been on Carnival Sensation and Paradise, smaller size ships, both were 4 and 5 day cruises.

In November I will be going on my first 7 day eastern Caribbean cruise on Carnival Glory, a Conquest size ship. In comparing the two Paradise and Glory, will a notice a difference in ship size, room, things to do, and feel of the ship? For those experienced cruises, how will this feel? Any help will be appreciated, just really curious. NO real clue what a 7 day cruise will feel like!
