  1. Wife and I got an Uber from IAH to the hotel the day before our cruise back in 2017 for the Breeze, and got the driver’s info.  He took us to Galveston port the next day “under the table” for quite a bit cheaper than an Uber ride would’ve been!

We are early eaters so we typically go right at 545. I would just checkin through the app 45mins before you want to eat if not checking in right away.

exactly - the Hub app will tell you the estimated current wait time, so you can get a fairly good sense of how long it’ll take til you’re seated.

Keep in mind that once they notify you that your table is ready, you only have 10 minutes to get down to the restaurant.

I used to like the coffee on the Lido deck just fine, but I can't quite drink it anymore. Over the years, I think I've just started drinking a higher quality coffee at home and my tolerance for bad coffee isn't what it used to be.

For what it's worth, I do think the coffee served in the MDR during breakfast/brunch and at dinner is not bad and much better than the stuff on the Lido deck. If I'm not having breakfast in the MDR (which I try to do every day) I will stop by Java Blue and just pay for coffee. The prices there are really reasonable, so I don't feel bad about it at all.

Agreed.  I'm just off the Magic, and thought the MDR coffee was pretty good.  The Lido coffee was drinkable, although it seemed to have some weird additive flavor to it that I can't quite put my finger on...

I noticed on the Celebration last week that the staff is forced to use a tablet now for ordering and it makes it difficult to add additional items past the 1 app, 1 entree, 1 dessert as they have to do more steps so it was hit or miss if I got the more than 1 app I ordered through the week depending on the mood of the waiter.

    oh wow.  That's not ideal

Carnival will now serve both desserts in the MDR and in the buffet. Unfortunately, in the past few years we have noticed both desserts in the buffet are made with gelatin. With the cheesecake this is done to use less cream cheese and with the pie they can use less sweetened condensed milk.

They save money but the true price we pay is with a poor quality product, e.g. you should not be able to press down on a slice of cheesecake and watch it bounce back up!

    oh, gross.

As you can imagine, having every cabin turning in a survey (flight needs) to the Customer Service desk by 9pm (we had about a 90 minute response window) made the Atrium area a real zoo. But from my prospective, Pride had plenty of staff available covering the area nearby and for us, we had turned in our form within about 3-4 minutes and were out of there. I'm sure there were plenty of stressed out, overly demanding people there, but for us - it was fast and seamless and we got the heck out of the way.

So kudos (so far) for the professionalism of the Carnival Pride crew.

Agree that having the singer belting out songs at the Atrium was foolish. One demerit for the entertainment staff.

Probably all part of the plan!  😉

Just off the Breeze on July 8th (then I hopped on the Vista) and it was a wonderful ship.  If you gamble but don't smoke they have a smoke free casino that was a lot of fun!  If you like the piano bar that was big and fun.  It kinda depends on the piano person at the time though as we had a dud of a time on the Vista last week.  Trivia was a blast.  Laurence was our cruise director and he was a lot of fun.  It really was a lot of fun.  I hope you have fun.

so what you're saying is.... it was pretty fun?  😉

I recall two versions of the coin pusher game.

    The first version..

where the player pushed the coins

along a parallel-sided  channel -worked OK

and you'd get a few quarters tumbling over the edge!

Then they got too clever, and came up with a version

where coins were pushed along an ever-wider channel,

where your chance of getting anything was near-impossible

That's when I stopped playing what used to be a fun game.

Shown here is the first version where you stood a chance...

on Carnival Victory, back in April 2011!

Another in a long list of losses for the average consumer in the last decade or so...

They're missing the point. The CDC wants a contingency plan to avoid a Diamond Princess, Celebrity Eclipse, et al situation where they are stuck at sea for weeks and no one would grant entry. Why is this so difficult to provide? DeSantis himself said he didn't want those HAL passengers dumped in his ports.

No one saw COVID coming as aggressively as it did and there's nothing preventing a similar situation from happening again.

besides, you know, the whole vaccine thing.

Therefore, as an unvaccinated person, I am "almost nil" of a threat to you.

NCL can make the rules for their cruises and that's that.  Will you also not attend parties, weddings, sporting events, etc. without knowing every person near you is vaccinated?  I don't plan to live like that.

There’a already a class system forming of “vaccinated” vs “non-vaccinated”.   Social media and the conventional media are playing a big part in that.
