They are saying face masks will be required.    This is from NCL's website:

    https://www.ncl.com/sail-safe

    Face Coverings

Face coverings are currently required for guests while indoors except for in their own accommodations and while eating and drinking in restaurants, bars and lounges or outdoors when physical distancing is not possible.

    idiotic.

.... despite mandatory vaccinations for everyone on-board.  Good grief.

Forgive me for bringing a little politics into the CDC reluctance to move forward in any meaningful way to get cruising started in the US but perhaps one should consider different motives of the CDC. It certainly doesn't appear the CDC is making any move to get cruising started so maybe this is the reason:

    1. The CDC wants to bring the cruise lines to their knees (near or to bankruptcy). WHY?

    2. So as a condition for sailing, the lines will have to re-flag some of their ships in the US. WHY?

    3. So they will be under complete control of US employment regulations and

    4. Therefore be able to unionize.

So think about it .... otherwise how the CDC is acting makes no sense.

Never attribute to malice, that which can be attributed to mere incompetence.

In all fairness, some of the 53% would not want to cruise with unvaccinated passengers due to possibility of major cruise itinerary deviations.
From other comments I’ve read, there’s the thought that it’s more likely masks would be required with unvaccinated passengers aboard.

that’s a good point, I hadn’t thought about that angle.

Because we still have Americans dying at alarming rates. When we can report no deaths in one full day due to the Virus then the restrictions may be eased a bit.

    Be patient cruisers.

lol.  Can’t tell if this is serious or not.

So, if we have two months straight where the national death toll is, say, between 10 and 60, we should keep things like cruising on ice?

The other "strange" cruise experience we had was being on a cruise on the day Trump was elected.  The entire cruise was "election immersion".  It was all you heard about throughout the ship and on tv, internet, etc.   Our dinner mates were two American couples, one pro-Trump, one anti-Trump.  We ended up being the "referees" every night.  It got so bad that they refused to eat together anymore.  The morning after the election, there were people partying and others crying and vowing to move to Canada.  It was an experience!!!

my wife and I embarked on a cruise (Carnival Breeze) the day after he was inaugurated!!!  Lol.  Didn’t hear a peep from any of the passengers about it, though.

I laugh that everyone thinks this vaccine is the end all to be all.  Just like the flu shot!!!.  There are so many variations of this virus, just b/c you get it, does not mean you  will be protected, anymore than you are protected with the flu shot.  I will get the vaccine (even though I am totally against it) ONLY because I want to cruise again.  We have been traveling all over since June and neither one of us have had any issues at all.  In fact - until we go in March, when the stupid CDC has mandated we get a test to come back to the states, we have not even had a COVID test.  This will be the first for us.  But willing to put up with the CDC BS so we can continue to travel.  Just like we will put up with the requirement to get the Vaccine even though I don't think it will do anything more than a flu shot (which I have never had).  Unfortunately, we live in a stupid world right now, and the CDC wants to control everything.  So whether I like it or not, I will do what they mandate. We refuse to sit at home in a bubble and die.  We want to live, so will do what we have to so we can continue to travel.  I know I will get blasted because we don't live in fear, but I simply don't care anymore. I am totally over all this BS.  Get the country open and let people live again. My mother almost died last weekend of a stroke.  Thankfully, she will be fine.  But life is short - LIVE IT!

coming up on one year of “two weeks to flatten the curve”.

In what way does simply having had the opportunity to get the vaccine accomplish anything?  A higher risk person who had the opportunity (but did not get the vaccine), along with every other person who did not get the vaccine is capable of becoming infected and spreading the virus.

right.  Which is unfortunate.   And that’s on them for not getting vaccinated.

Continuing to make policy based on what “could happen” is exactly what’s going to keep us in this state for a long, long time.

Got the same.  I am 99.9% confident my May 2 sailing is going to be cancelled.  I am stuck between a rock and a hard place.  I don't want to tie up money for final payment when it's just going to get cancelled.  I also don't want to bail from the sailing because I want the opportunity to rebook with FCC.  What to do!

quite honestly, I’d take the cash refund now.  Pinning your hopes on a nebulous “future state” might be foolish the way things have unfolded the past year.

I am in agreement...for now.  If masks are required, that means that the overall cruise atmosphere will be altered too drastically for me to want partake.  But if masks become the norm and stay that way for several years, I suppose I might break down and join in.  I doubt that will come to pass,

you haven’t been playing close attention to the government’s messaging, then.
