  1. Thanks everyone. We are looking forward to it!
  2. We needed to get from ANC to Seward for our cruise embarkation. I booked us gold star class on the coastal classic train. A few days later we port into Skagway. They have the white pass historic railroad. I hear it’s amazing. Would this be worth doing in addition to the transit train? Or will it be a similar experience and we should try something different? thanks.
  3. Easy. They were sold out. I typically book my cruises 2 weeks or so ahead of sailing for work reasons. On this cruise the best room available was what we got (there may have been an availability in the top most suite category if memory serves, which we were not interested in.)
  4. Kaylee, I can't personally answer this but have you tried their online chat support on rssc.com They have helped me with a number of questions leading up to our trip. Also, if you click on their deck plan you can see the rooms that are designated as wheelchair accessible. I see some D & C category concierge suites that are. FWIW they also include a walk in shower instead of a tub.
  5. Sailing on the Regent Explorer. In skagway we are considering doing the Icefield flightseeing and dog sledding. That said, do we actually get to dogsled on snow/ice? Or is it one of the ones where the sled is on wheels? Do we land on the glacier or "near" it? A bit confused about how this is written. Thanks in advance. Take an inspiring helicopter ride over the glacial icefields near Skagway. Land near Denver Glacier and meet professional mushers at a dog camp. Spend time with the huskies that will pull your dog sled. Stand at the back of the dogsled and mush or relax in the sled. Flightseeing meets dogsledding in this one-of-a-kind adventure that combines two iconic Alaskan modes of transportation. Soon after taking off from Skagway in a helicopter, you will be soaring high over some of North America’s most spectacularly scenic countryside, a land of rugged peaks, roaring waterfalls and ancient glaciers. Your destination will be a dog camp in the shadow of Denver Glacier, which is a hanging glacier that stops abruptly on the edge of a cliff. It’s an extraordinary setting, where you will meet the camp’s professional mushers and a team of powerful huskies that can effortlessly pull a loaded sled. After a few tips on dogsledding, you will be presented with the option of standing at the back of the sled and mushing or simply relaxing in the sled while another guest mushes. Either way, you can expect a thrilling ride through the glacial landscape. HELPFUL HINTS Dress warmly in layered clothing, a hat and gloves. Wear comfortable hiking shoes.
  6. We are looking at fishing options in Ketchikan. Currently we are booked for the private salmon fishing, the cruise line indicates that it will be a group of 6 people on the boat. Other options, for a bit more money we could just go the two of us. Is it likely that we will hit our limits with 6 people on a boat? Or would it be wise to book a two person trip? Thanks in advance. John

  8. What is particularly frustrating about it, we had a couples massage scheduled which was cancelled for unknown reasons. It just vanished off of our schedule. We asked what happened and they said we cancelled it. (We had not.) The whole thing was odd. They had this one cabana available so we decided to do that instead. It was just a mess. I don’t like complaining and my wife REALLY doesn’t. But this was pretty bad. (come to think of it they also cancelled our shore excursion on the first day. This was reasonable though due to inclement weather.).
  9. We had an overall excellent experience on the scarlet lady. A wonderful time, and will definitely sail virgin again. I didn’t want to complain directly to virgin, bc I didn’t want the staff getting in trouble with a complaint linked to our reservation. We booked a cabana at Bimini and it was just shy of awful. For the price it was just terrible. The facilities themselves were dirty. With trash in our advertised cooler and under our seats. Our seat cushions were water logged. When we laid on them we got soaked in a cold “water”? There were a lot of flies, likely because of the trash. Our dedicated server was all but nonexistent. Spending the vast majority of her time serving the guests that were in the free sections of the beach club. We ordered two drinks the entire time we were there and delivery took about 30 minutes from order both times. Finally we got frustrated and left. Our attendant call button did nothing. It took us probably 45 minutes to place an order for food. Because we didn’t have any way of locating the server, and she was busy elsewhere. They pitch it as a premium product and it just isn’t. To be honest I would have much rather just been in a regular beach chair. Lastly we returned toward the end of the day, but well before the bonfire. Our cabana was stripped and no staff was available. Save your money, it’s not worth the premium.
  10. Anyone have any success with a level upgrade? We are sailing in a few weeks and I just put in my bid. I wanted to buy a suite to begin with but the only suite available was the Massive Suite @ $11k. Which frankly was out of my budget. The best option was a XL Terrace. That was like $2600. for the week. I booked it, the following morning I got the "Upgrade your Level" email. 🤨 So does Virgin, withhold inventory to hope people up-bid the prices? What would be a reasonable bid over the minimum? If I am outbid, do I have an opportunity to rebid, to chase the room vs. Sliding that slider all the way to the right? Thanks in advance. J sorry if this has been answered, I have been digging around unsuccessfully for a few days trying to find some info.
