  1. We are on the Nov 27th cruise and I just got off the phone with a RCCL dining person and she informed me that you will be given one restaurant out of the 4 and you will be in the same one for the whole cruise unless you dine in the windjammer or specialty restaurant. She also told me that there will be 2 formal nights like only ships have and all 4 of those restaurants will be formal on those nights. I asked if I could have the grande as my choice and she told me I would have to call back Monday and speak to the person handling my reservations.

  2. Unknown about formal nights. I thought I read that they don't have formal nights anymore on Empress.

The lady on the phone said that formal nights will not only be grande and will be 1 or more specific nights during the cruise. This is a 12 night cruise. I guess we will all find out what happens.

  3. I just received a phone call from RCCL, letting me know that they will be changing my dinner times that I have reserved to My Time Dining. I guess they will be changing their dining plans starting on Tuesday. I don't really know the difference between my time dining and me just making reservations for the times I want.

  4. Really, you are on a very fine line... I wouldn't want to be a company that uses money that might be refunded regardless of the interest rate on money. If they use it in any form, it must be booked as REVENUE. Doesn't look good on the books to then refund it...

And, please explain how a publicly traded company can use money (revenue that isn't booked)? They hide it under the bed as cash?

I believe a bank does this everyday. When you put money in their bank, the bank will loan it to others to make money from the interest. Its done everyday.

I think when i go on my next cruise, I might just do this and book multiple cruises to get the cheaper rooms and if I can't get the time off, will give them back.

  5. You also get little bottles of shampoo, conditioner and shower soap as well as one glass bottle (large) of Evian water. I had asked our room steward if the water would be replace when empty but he said it was a one time deal. However, he did leave us a second bottle, which was very nice of him.

I've posted pictures online (click here) of our Junior Suite. It was an amazing cabin. HUGE balcony!!!

Holly, we will be in a spa jr suite in November, is this cabin a spa suite also and what room number was it.

    Thanks a lot

  6. You (and everyone else asking his question) can try this before ever getting on the ship. Put the phone in airplane mode and turn on WiFi only. If it works then it will likely work on the ship as well. No extra costs.

Why so rude, I thought one of the purposes of this site was to ask questions when you are looking for answers. If the question bothered you so much, then don't open it and read it.

  7. We usually don't get insurance, but on our next cruise it will be our longest cruise and with some of the recent incidents that have happened on cruises (all being normal incidents that could happen anywhere). We were thinking about getting the health insurance. Has anyone used Medex insurance? We don't expect any problems but wanted to look into getting the outside insurance just in case.

    Any help would be helpful

    Thanks in advance

  8. We currently have a reservation on Anthem in November. My wife's reservation is in her maiden name as we don't currently have passports and use birth certificates. We were going to order passports within the next couple weeks and was wondering in RCCL would change her name on the reservation to her married name after we get the passports or would we have to leave it as is and bring marriage certificate with us showing the name change. It would just be easier without the paperwork, since we would have passports now.

  9. Our cruise just had one of our ports changed to Martinique and we will be arriving on a Sunday. We have heard that almost everything will be closed. Is this true and if so, what will be open? Will any of the shops be open?
