My wife thanks you all for your answers. I knew we could count on the kind people of CC to know the answer. The paperwork has been filled out now and turned in. She said she has done all the anti-terrorist briefing. She is the one in the military, so I have passed on your thanks for her service.

When looking for our cruise, we checked the military discounts, and actually came out better with a special Carnival was running.

When a soldier fills out their military leave form there is a section that asks for the Leave address. If they are going on a cruise, what would they put in for the leave address?

My wife is very prone to motion sickness. When she rides in the car, she cannot read or use her tablet because of motion sickness. When she lived in the Philippines, she would always get sick when she had to ride a ferry (I probably would too, but more from worry than from the motion) So, I was pretty worried about our first cruise. Would she be feeling sick the entire time, or asleep because of the medicine? (She is tiny, only 110 lbs)

So I decided to try something different. I ordered 2 of the BioBands, one for her, and one for me, just in case. She wore the band the entire cruise, and never once felt queasy..even on our last sea day when the water was a little rougher than it had been before. We took some motion sickness pills with us, just in case, but never needed to open the box. The bands were $11.95 each and we ordered them online. I have to say, it was money well spent.

This is not an advertisement for them, and I am in no way affiliated with the company. I just thought it was a great alternative to the medicine, and it worked.

To find the best internet cafes in the ports, ask the crew (room stewards, waiters, bar tenders etc.) Many of them are away from home most of the year, so when they get a chance to go ashore, they head to the internet cafe to call home. They know where all the best ones are.

One of the things I wished for most when I was on board, was on board texting. It would have been great to be able to text my wife when she was at a place different than I was at, and let her know where I was.

And more comfortable chairs around the outside tables. I really disliked how they had the rail that went from the side of the chair to the edge of the seat. That was very uncomfortable for me.

My wife and I are planning to self-disembark. As of this time, we plan to have one suitcase and one carry on. We have FTTF. I am a US citizen, my wife is a permanent resident. How will that affect our disembarkation?

The luggage tags I still printed in portrait mode.

I don't know if I'm worrying over nothing or not. I'm trying to print all my cruise documents, luggage tags & boarding pass. I tried last night & have done it again this morning at work (on two seperate printers). My problem is that none of them are printing to the full letter size. More like 6.5 x 8. I'm not so worried about anything other than the boarding pass & the luggage tags. They just seem so small to me & I don't want to get to the ship & there be a problem. Also.... when I originally printed the luggage tags the bar code (with number along the side) showed up. But today they're not printing with the bar code. Only with larger numbers where it once was. Do I need to be concerened or should I just take a Xanax (LOL ;) :D )?

What I did, was print them in landscape mode. They fit the paper, and were large enough to read that way.

I would like to clarify one point, and it is my fault that I didn't say this earlier. I don't have a problem with their per drink price, it is about what I expected. And since my wife and I are not big drinkers, it is within our budget to have a drink or two while on our cruise. But just before I read this thread, I had been on Carnival's FunShop and had seen the price of their bottles of liquor, and to be honest, it floored me. Maybe I was wrong, and it isn't that far off from what those brands would cost retail. It just seemed astronomical to me.

I don't endorse anyone breaking the rules by sneaking liquor on board or bringing their own snacks into a theater. But I can understand why sometimes they might.

Out of curiosity, why would someone that has a total of 16 posts on CC, have 6 of them posted on two different alcohol related threads when you obviously do not drink.

 

By the way, enjoy your first cruise next week. You do realize that it's a 4 day cruise that many people got 100 rates on and it'll be a booze cruise with lots of drinking.

In all honesty, I have been reading a lot of posts on here that may not concern me directly. I may never cruise the Mediterranean or take an Alaskan cruise, but I enjoy reading about them. So are you saying I should only read posts about the Carnival Fascination, since it is the only ship that will affect me?

And, if you will read again, I did not say I do not drink. I said I am not much of a drinker. I do enjoy an occasional drink and my wife and I will probably have a drink or two while on this cruise. So price will affect me. As far as the other alcohol related thread, someone asked a question and I was able to find the answer, so I posted it.

I do so hope that explains my previous posts to you, and if you should have questions about any other of my past posts or any future posts, please do not hesitate to ask.

dont like their prices, dont cruise with them. You do have a choice besides breaking their rules

I don't have to break their rules, or pay their prices. I am not much of a drinker, so I will be bringing my own 12 packs of soft drinks. But perhaps if their prices were a little more reasonable, they would sell more and wouldn't have people that felt they needed to sneak it aboard.

Carnival took our box wine but not our... FREEDOM!

I'd like to see them go further than that. Post a warning that people who are caught smuggling alcohol will be denied boarding, enforce that penalty a few times, and the entire issue goes away. After all, who would be foolish enough to risk losing their cruise just to save money by attempting to smuggle liquor on board?

Because God knows, their alcohol is sooo reasonably priced.

I know for sure there will be at least one beautiful Filipina on board the Fascination January 12th.

Ingredients:

1 oz Coconut Rum

1/2 oz Peach Schnapps

3 1/3 oz Pineapple Juice

3 1/3 oz Orange Juice

1/2 oz Grenadine

Directions:

Blend all ingredients together. Pour over ice. Garnish with an orange slice.
