  1. I’m so excited to read this!  I’ve been trying to prepare our thoughts from this cruise!!

I actually saw your family outside in the check in line area sitting along the side around 10:30ish.. but we were doing the same nonsense dance in the rain you mentioned … “stand in the 11am line”….”no - you can’t be here even though your kids are vaccinated - you have to go to the kids line”….entire party of 9 - including my parents wiTh mobility issues  treks to kids line and we are told we “don’t belong in the kids line - and we need to go back! “

that’s where I drew the line and politely said that she could walk us back to that line and tell the man we should stay (other families had also been sent) or help us cut that line to recover the spot we were just directed to get out of. Or she could help us get in from here.

She helped us get back into the right line quickly by going in her kid door.  We were still further behind than our original spot but we were on board with one of the early groups.

And I provided Royal a lot of survey results about the playscape usage per day Vs a flow rider…and that the wind jammer was sooo awesome…

  2. I have an 11 and 15 year old.  I don’t know how I set up their cards - but I sent my daughter to the casino to spend $50 with the family so that we would get $25 credit back…. Turns out that she has a limit of $50…and could not buy the last game to get the discount!!!  And I was too tired to go to guest services to have it changed.. Sigh…

here is my recommendation.  Give your kids charging privileges with rules.   The app makes it SOO easy for everyone to see what they have spent and for you to monitor it if you feel the need to check on them.   There will likely be times when you want to send them to get you something and this just makes it so much easier!

I found that as they got older, they had a better understanding of the rules and consequences in this regard compared to when they were younger and did not really understand the value of $$ and what was happening when they used the card.   When they were younger I used to wait until the last day or two to add privileges for them (they have to have their own charging privileges in order to use their C&A perks!)

Thank you both for your replies!  I didn't realize the menus were on the app and have found them.

A couple other questions - It appears I have been assigned to Tradional Dining - which I guess means I have to go stand in line? Is it too late for me to sign up for My Time Dining?  Also, when I look at the different restaurants in the app, it looks like the Windjammer is only for lunch.  Is that correct?  When we sailed before, it was open like all the time (breakfest, lunch, dinner) - you just walked in.

    Thank you everyone!

traditional dining means you have a set time and set table and should never have to stand in line ?

WJ will be open for all meals…

Buy one of the lanyards that doesn't need a hole punched. Sold on board, if you can't find one on line.

Thanks - we have several lanyards already from when hole punching was a normal thing…we are a party of 9 and have 5 of the sleeves to go with our stash but was curious if we could do this for the kids cards as they will be using them only for the door.

    How long ago was this?

It may work if you are a Florida resident and have a valid  Real ID Florida Driver's license that you need replaced, but a non-resident doesn't have a chance of meeting the Florida  document requirements for a Real ID   license or ID card.

Since the man has his birth certificate - I would imagine he can get all of the other required items as many are available onlinr:

  6. I think cruising is definitely suitable for your style and I would not hesitate to go on an oasis class.  There are sooo many places in the evening / night to escape the crowds if you want to,    And also plenty of options to keep busy or engage in. A Crowd if you want!

Sept 2022 - I believe will be a Mediterranean cruise?

  7. The kids in our group (8, 11, 15) are all vaccinated so I don’t have any direct experience here - but my advice from reading others posts here:

    1) request a delayed final payment by 1 week to allow for review of H&S protocols

    2) write to Michael Bayley or Alma at the email addresses provided with a calm/rational approach requesting your money back due to H&S protocols.

    3) if you really want to cruise and have a medical exemption justification for your 12 year old, you can submit it and hope to get it.

also - I saw that you commented about your 8 yo needing a mask - but I thought that was only actually being required in the adventure ocean?

The form that I posted earlier with all the shows is what I look at to see what I want to do each night and then circle it. Then I go to the app and then make reservations for everyone through the app for that particular show. Then I post that sheet on a wall in the room with a magnet, since the walls are metal, so that I can look at it each night and know what my show will be.  I do this as one of the first things on board since some shows fill up fast.

thanks - I’m familiar with the form but this will be our first cruise post covid.  For our 2019 symphony cruise I had all of my show reservations before I boarded!

Did you get what you wanted?

…I also travel with a stack of magnets / magnet clips!   I am excited about those new hooks in the wall under the TV though!

Someone who cruised on the inagural Wonder cruise last week is now on Symphony and they are asking if the food is just as elaborate in Windjammer this week as the inagural cruise.  If you say Lobster on Day 6 it doesn't sound like it is the same.

I agree - I expect the MDR menu to be similar but I am  really curious how the WJ menu was that first few days!

Loving your detailed review with all your pictures (as with your last one)!

I'm pretty sure Simeon was cruise directory on Symphony three years ago.  He as just filling in for the regular one.  Quite liked him...very personal, funny and just seemed like a nice guy.

He certainly was the comedian on Symphony in 2019…would not surprise me if he filled in for Mike (or whomever Mike alternated with) some weeks!

  11. In my state, minors can be IN the bar, just not AT the bar.

we have certainly brought our kids to the pub for dinner (and drinks for us) .  Just can’t sit at the bar itself.

I know a lot of families who spend a lot of money on their suites.   I would hate for them to be excluded from using all of the privileges.   Suite guests don’t get vouchers loaded onto their sea pass cards.

I hope the pro-tip is just a tip that warns you the atmosphere is different in the evening.
