  1. Back again. We have been on 6 safaris over the past 15 years. Our first one was going to be our bucket list trip, one and done. When we got back from the first one we looked at each other and said we have to do this again. There is something unbelievably surreal about seeing the amazing animals close at hand. I remember one time when we were sitting in the safari vehicle just past sunset listening to a lion roar about 10 feet from where we were. Talk about the hair standing up on your head! We have mostly done 9-10 day safaris. We are going back one more (?) time in 2025 for 11 days. Recommend the Kruger/Sabi Sand area. Leopard Hills is wonderful, as is Mala Mala Rattrays. Lion Sands has several different camps at various price points. Pretty much each of the above are wonderful in their own ways and provide a fantastic experience both with their accommodations and game viewing. Check out their websites.

  2. When we have been on a B2B, on the turnaround day I always tell our room stewards that I will leave our Privacy sign out all day. They have so much to do I like to do a little something to help out. They then come in while we are out to dinner and have the room nice and tidy for bedtime. They have been very appreciative of this gesture.

  3. We were on this same basic cruise this past September.

Edinburgh we missed because of the Queen's funeral but had been before where we did the Royal Mile walking tour. I remember it as being interesting.

Invergordon we did the Cawdor Castle and Culloden Battlefield tour. Castle was a gem with beautiful gardens. The battlefield is just a field with some flags showing where each side was, but our guide's commentary made history come to life. If you are an Outlander fan you will imagine Jamie riding his horse into battle😉 By the way, our guideDonald was one of the best we have had on any tour, Regent or not.

In Kirkwall the archeological wonders tour should not be missed. Skara Brae is fascinating.

Ullapool is a cute little town in its own right. We did the Knockan Crag hike and discovered our guide was to be the same Donald as we had in Invergordon. The hike itself is not for everyone, narrow, rocky, steep trail that was often on the edge of a cliff. Some people apparently did not read enough of the description and wore flimsy sneakers instead of the sturdy shoes recommended. If you like geology you will be fascinated as you will see where the theory of plate tectonics originated. Since Donald was at one time the head geologist of the Highlands we had expert commentary. Even if you don't like geology the scenery is gorgeous.

From Killybegs we did the Wild Sliabh Liag cliffs. It is mostly a see-it-yourself place though there is commentary on the bus ride there. Our guide on this tour was a dud, providing nothing useful. He wasn't even sure whether the tea stop should be before or after the cliffs. The cliffs themselves are beautiful, but it was very windy there. You are given about 45 minutes to wander on your own which a lot of people were not happy about. We loved it and hiked quite a way up the cliffside.

Having been to Belfast a couple of times before we had done the main tours. We opted for the Traditional Irish Music Tour. A lot of fun visiting several pubs and hearing the music.

In Waterford we did the walking tour. Found the tour mildly interesting.

@moogwan Yep, it ALWAYS pays to check, especially now with all of the last-minute changes happening.

Also, to quote a post, if you're on a standard browser there's a Plus sign and the word Quote just under the each post - to single quote, just click 'Quote', and to quote multiple posts click the Plus sign under each post you want to include, a new icon will pop up in the lower right of the window letting you quote however many posts you've selected.  Pretty straightforward!

WooHoo, I managed to do it!!

  5. There are most likely spin classes on Explorer. We were on Splendor in March and there were spin classes. I know because they put the bikes in the small empty area, usually at the time I wanted to practice martial arts there! Have not been on Navigator in years, so not sure there.

We were on a cruise and sat next to a couple dressed in sweat shirts and sweat pants in

Chartreuse.  And sneakers!!! I think sometimes people are too lazy to change clothes for dinner.

On our last cruise there was a man who wore sneakers all the time. Turns out he was almost paralyzed a few years ago and could only walk with the use of a stiff ankle brace which would only fit under his special sneakers. Otherwise he was impeccably dressed.

  7. Hello Mr. Moore. I would love it if one could choose between using OBC or a credit card when booking an excursion, instead of automatically using OBC. I know it seems silly, but I prefer to pay for excursions upfront with a CC and save OBC for buying special bottles of wine!  🍷😉

  8. We were on a Regent cruise that did a two day  “drive by” of Antarctica about 12 years ago. Supposedly we would be able to enter a sheltered bay to see some scenery (which is no longer allowed for anything other than expedition ships). Unfortunately the weather was horrible and all we did was bounce around in 40 foot seas for the two days. All we saw was icebergs. Our expedition cruise on Silver Sea 2 years ago was awesome. Weather in Antarctica is always iffy.

  9. I am on this cruise. The answer I received about the windows (not from the captain but another highly placed official) was that because of the predicted weather (12 foot seas and 50 knot winds) and the way the ship was facing in port, there was the possibility of hard waves hitting CR windows. The safety drapes were closed to protect diners in the event a wave blew out a window.
