That would explain the mysterious "DUIND" in the destinations tab.

I'm also seeing Valparaiso, Chile in the departure ports tab, which wasn't there before and which I think is probably also related to the World Cruise.

RCI has broken down the 4 world cruise segments to smaller journeys.  There is a Valparaiso to LA 19 night journey.

But if you look at the link I posted, it says:  Guests who join us for one of the four expeditions will receive the following inclusions: • Deluxe Beverage Package for entire expedition • VOOM Wi-Fi for entire expedition • Gratuities for entire expedition • Wash and fold laundry service for entire expedition

I'm on the entire cruise and my invoice doesn't specifically mention gratuities, either.  But at least we do  have it there in the FAQ.  🙂

I am on leg 1 only. This sentence shows up on my invoice:  As part of your ROUND THE HORN: AMERICAS AND ANTARCTICA Expedition package, these gratuities for the full duration of the sailing are included, and guests will not see a daily charge onboard.

They just told me that it was not combinable with the current program pricing of 30% off, and that this promotion ends Nov 6, and I should check back to see if it is combinable with the next program pricing on Nov 7. He did mention it was combinable with the 30% from last month, but so far not this month. This company never ceases to amaze me.

I just booked yesterday under the current discount offer using a PCC.  Maybe call back if you're eager to book now.

  4. We just received our Pinnacle crystal today. I didn’t realize the name of the ship and date of sailing on which the milestone was reached is etched into the crystal.

I was surprised our cruise certificate expires April 30 since we didn’t reach Pinnacle  until June. 2022. I booked a Navigator sailing in February - we haven’t done that itinerary from CA to Mexico since 2009. Looking forward to going back.

  5. We did a British Isles cruise this last summer.  The only port you list which we did not go to was Liverpool.  Following is some general info regarding the ports.

Inverness:  The port is in a very small town and in my opinion, opportunities would be wasteed staying in port.  We have been 4 times.  It seems most people go on a ship or private tour to Loch Ness and Urguhart Castle.  We have also done private tours to Dunrobin castle, distilleries and surrounding areas.  This year we rented a car and drove to the Black Water Falls, The Singleton of Glen Ord distillery and to Beauly to see the Beauly Priory.  We have always had a great time in the Scottish Highlands.

Glasgow:  The port of Greenock is not close to Glasgow or Edinburgh.  There were no convenient rental car locations this summer.  Because we love Edinburgh more than we like Glasgow, we booked a "Edinburgh On Your Own" tour through RCI.  For us, the time spent getting to and from Edinburgh was well worth it, but others might think differently.  We have been to Edinburgh several times so we did not feel like we needed to see everything.  I know many people also took the RCI transfer to Glasgow.

Belfast:  We took a small group tour to Giants Causeway with Odyssey Tours.  It was a very good tour for the price.

Holyhead:  We had a fabulous day in Wales and can't wait to return.  We rented a car and drove to Conwy to see the castle, Beaumarais to see the castle and then to the train station at Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.  Conwy castle was unbelievably interesting.

Cork:  The port of Cobh is fairly small.  Due to limited time in port, we stayed there and explored on foot.  If you are mobile, a walk up to see the cathedral is worth the hike.  We then just poked around town, had some drinks at a pub and ate lunch at a restaurant with an outdoor deck at water's edge.

Dover:  Although a bit of a steep hike, we walked to Dover Castle and were glad we did.  Great views and very informative employees/volunteers. I purchased tickets online so we didn't have to wait at the ticket office. When we walked back down to town we just had drinks in a pub and then found a restaurant by water's edge with great views of the ship.

It's a great itinerary. You can't go much wrong regardless of what you decide to do.

  6. I just accessed my online account to try to make dining reservations for an upcoming cruise.  My account says I have 0 reservations. When I tried to re-add the cruise I’m trying to plan I got an error message stating that cruise had already been linked to my account. But the account page still shows 0 reservations.

Has anyone else dealt with this in the past?  How was it fixed? Do I need to call RCI?

Received ours for our Jewel cruise. The name of the ship is now in printed letters not the cursive on my older blocks.  Otherwise the same size, shape, design.

Glad to hear shipments are happening.  We are waiting on one from a Jewel cruise in June.

My son just booked this cruise with his friend leaving Jan 2. They booked deck 9 but not sure about location. I am nervous that my 23 year old is going on this trip with a friend.  His friend works with Royal Caribbean and they basically got the cruise free.

We always worry more about our children. I'm sure your son will be fine - especially as he will be with a RCI employee.  What an adventure he will have.

My youngest daughter went on a 2-1/2 month solo trip to Russia, South Korea, Japan and China when she was 25.  Her trip included a short cruise out of Shanghai but the rest was land based.  The biggest problem she had was getting to Moscow in time for a Trans-Siberian train trip - she was stuck overnight at JFK due to weather and had to work through getting a change in airlines.  She returned with even more independence (if that's possible) and confidence in her trouble shooting skills.  She and I just reserved a cruise on Spectrum for January 25.

  9. We spent 24 nights on Jewel this summer.  The itinerary was fabulous and that is why we chose those sailings.  Ship maintenance was fine.  However, the entertainment left something to be desired in our opinion.  There were a very few good performers but for the most part we were not impressed with those we saw.  Lots of the same type/era of music.  Because the entertainment is less important to us than the itinerary, we are sailing on Jewel again next summer.  But if entertainment was paramount to us, this is not the ship I would choose to book.

  10. We were also on Voyager out of Copenhagen. The itinerary was great. The lack of all the bells and whistles is less important on a port intensive cruise.

The ship is well maintained (although we met some folks with a negative experience in a GS won through Royal Up). Some areas have been updated with lighter wood and furnishings.

We had excellent service in the main dining room and Giovanni’s.  We found most of the food was good - with the notable exception of soups which were both thin and puréed to the extent nothing bore any resemblance to any ingredient. This has been true on more than the Voyager.

The entertainment will be quite different on a Caribbean cruise so I will only say we were very happy that there was a singing group which actually performed songs which came out after the 1960’s. I was beginning to think only groups which sang rat pack song after rat pack song were booked.

If you have any specific questions, I will try to answer.

  11. We were just in Stockholm last week.  Uber was more economical than the taxis.  From the Frihamnen  port to VASA museum, cab quotes were 20-30 Euro.  Uber was 99-113 SEK (about 11 E).  When we went back to the port we used Uber as well but an actual taxi showed up for the Uber cost (we've never experienced that before).  Each time we waited no more than 5 minutes for the car.

ditto;  we had 1108 and 1110 booked;  i'm sure the swap is still a work in progress but in the cruise planner we are now on a five day on the voyager but out of Galveston

Yes us too for the July 1, 2023 sailing.  Surprised people with later sailings have already been moved.
