  1. I checked last night and the price of our cabin had dropped considerably. I e-mailed my TA last night, she called as I got home from work, she said, NCL, would upgrade us from a balcony to a mini-suite. I accepted and had my e-docs when I checked after dinner. I realize a Mini, is not much different from a balcony but the tub will be a nice add on. I always book early to get cheaper airfare, and although the price reduction is probably greater than the upgrade, I feel fortunate, looking forward to our cruise!

  2. We were on the Escape in June thought our reservation was for 6 PM, and showed up at La Cuchina at 5:50 PM.

We found out our reservation was at 5:30, we were told we missed it and lost out. We did not make a big deal out of it, and went to the MDR. Not sure if we could have complained and got satisfaction, but it was our fault. so we will use it as a lesson learned. Won't happen again.

  3. When we were on the Escape in June there was an upcharge at Bayamo,  $10 if I remember correctly.

There were also upcharge menu items, I had the lobster. Probably will not do that again. but the atmosphere was very  upscale.

  4. I have a question about docking in Bermuda.

When we were in Bermuda last year, we docked on the starboard, side, but that was the Dawn. Can anyone tell me if they use

the Port side or Starboard for the Escape at the Royal Naval Dockyard? We booked starboard rooms, so we can watch people come and go.

  5. Yes, menus would be great! No matter what they say, we have seen variations in menus from the Specialties on the smaller/older ships.

I would also love to hear about the embarkation and disembarkation in Boston as this will be our first cruise out of there.

We were on the Dawn 5/4-11/18

Arrived at 11 am, showed our passport were handed the medical forms walked right up to the counter, handed over the E-doc. We were asked for the credit card, had our picture taken and then waited for them to start calling boarding groups, by noon they were calling group four, we were in group 5, on the ship by 12:10 pm, and in the dining room ordering lunch by 12:20.

Disembarking, we hid in our room til 9:15 and we were politely asked to leave. We carry off our own luggage and we got in line, which was about the shortest I have ever seen. We were soon in the main terminal where we planned to hang out until our pre-arranged bus was to arrive after 10:30. We were asked to leave the terminal by the officials so we had to wait outside in the breezy Boston weather, for awhile, glad we wore long pants and sweatshirts.. Very quick and easy, no complaints, and will certainly consider using Boston Cruise port in the future.

  6. We did Moderno on Breakaway in October of 2017, and really enjoyed it, the salad bar could easily be a meal, but you need to save room for the endless parade of meat. I have never tried Ocean Blue, but intend to in the future. The Hibachi place is loud and we do those on shore, so will skip that next time, although the food was very good. Cagneys was good, I thought the Olive Garden comment, someone else made was accurate, so skipping the Italian place next cruise as well.

  7. We always take the UBP, not huge drinkers, but nice not to have to worry about a big tab when I leave. When on vacation I try not to be in a hurry and if I wait two minutes for a drink, I don't get too concerned. On the Breakaway last fall there were plenty of bars, and I liked the one, a deck above the pool, she made great bloody marys, Miami Vices, mudslides, gin and tonics. Looking forward to the Dawn in May.

  8. Just off the Breakaway this morning. Ate breakfast and lunch in the garden cafe most days, did not experience any great vibration issues. We did have a 3 hour delay during the embarkation process due to a yearly required Coast Guard drill, not a great start but kept a positive attitude. Never met our cabin steward but, the room was clean and we had a different towel animal every night.Weather was not great, but again made the best of it. Met a lot of staff in the hallways and we always greeted them with a smile and they responded accordingly.
