Tap on the image of your Excelsior Pass, the second screen has your QR code, and a spot to tap for vaccination details, the details include Date of vacination, Type, the Vacination site and lot number for your vacine.  Everything you need is available in the APP

This helped.  I went to the Excelsior Pass site on my phone and was able now to get my  Excelsior Pass Plus.  Now it shows my boosters.

I so agree, I can not imagine carry on only on a cruise. Seems lots can though. Kudos to them.

    Hi,

I do do carry-on.  But I use two of them.  I could not make it with just one.  I do this because I want to unpack as soon as I can and I don't have to worry about lost suit cases.  I use to give it to the porter  curb side at the pier.  But once it almost got taken.  The porter stopped it in time.  I gave him my luggage and a tip.  But I was waiting to see him put it on the pallet.  He turned to put one of the case on the pallet, and when his back was turned, a bus driver grabbed my other case and was just about to load in the luggage compartment of the bus.  The bus was picking up PAX to take them home.  Both me and the porter yelled. The porter got my case then and put it on the pallet.  Between that and seeing luggage land in the water, I now carry on my things.  These things don't haven too often.  But I want to be safe with my suitcases.

My trick for packing is I pack non bulky clothing. But I do pack a hoodie and shawls for the AC.   I do warm weather cruises most of the time.   I also sew lots of my clothing, therefore I choose fabric that fold nice and flat and does not wrinkle.

I also do this (2 carry- on) because they are easier for me to lift.

No San Pedro. We were told it was the whole pallet. Luckily (🥵) it was a Hawaii cruise, so lots of time to wear our newly washed clothes...after we finally got them back. No compensation or offers of help from Passenger Services desk. We should have pushed for some clothes from the shops, but didn't.

WOW,  I agree, the service desk should have stepped up.  It should have been at least for some of the clothes it should have been same day service.

Thank you, Coral!  We may even take a road trip up to the Pacific Northwest to visit a cousin’s new home.  My husband has been wanting to go on a road trip, anyway.  He’s taken two since COVID.  I stayed home with our old/sick animals who are sadly gone now.   As for eating out and going places, I’ve been out and about ever since we were done with lockdown.  I no longer wear a mask unless at the doctor.  I’m not worried on land.  I don’t think I would feel as comfortable on sea, though.  Again, that’s mostly because of the whole quarantine situation and some of Princess’ lack of response, judging from what I’ve read here.
What I REALLY need to do is have a knee replacement.  I want to be able to walk on my NEXT cruise. ☺️

Happy to hear that you might take a road trip.  I still wear a mas while out in stores.  What I do is to look at our area positivity rate.  Right now our rate is  14.4%. Therefore I wear a mask.  We have not been going out at all to eat.  My DH has a sister (in her early 90's) who has a large family in and out of her house.  With the rate so high here,  we did not visit her .  Some members of the family , well did not like that we would not go.  But with so many people in and out of her house with no masks.  I did not feel safe.

Yesterday we got the awful phone call, she is in the hospital with covid.  Some one brought it into her home. (she does not got out).

What I am saying is just be a careful as you feel good about doing.  Every one has different levels of how they feel safe.  If you can, check the positivity rate in your are and where you might drive too.

We stopped checking our suitcases after they got dumped into the water at the port. Nothing to wear for 3 days. The ship let us use "expedited" laundry (we weren't Elite at the time) and it took 3 days to get our laundry back. Some things were ruined (not the clothes) and insurance didn't come close to paying for it...plus the hassle of getting the insurance to pay.

WAs that in Fort Lauderdale?  I was at the pier and I saw the top maybe 10 suite case slide off the pallet into the water?  It would have been a Caribbean cruise.

I’ve never felt so indecisive.  Aaaack.  But, true, my gut is telling me to cancel and when things are more stable, book again…one of these years! 😉  I’m at platinum now.  And, my TA is simply going to have to understand, even if her experiences have been fine.  Most were before this latest sub variant, too.

I would not worry about your TA.  Do what is right for you.  We were to go on MS Koningsdam 3/4/2020 to 3/15/2020 , just when covid was really starting up.  We canceled it. I had that gut feeling too, about that cruise.   I had really wanted to go.  But for me, it just was not worth the risk.  Right now  we have put cruising on hold.  I can't see us spending all that money and not enjoying our selves like before.  I just don't want to risk getting covid on a ship.  Now we are mostly at home.

Maybe some day we will cruise again, but for now I will take my chances on land.  We are not going out to eat, so more cooking than before.  Life has changed for us, but I roll with it. Our cruise window has closed, but other doors have opened.  I enjoy being home and have taken up a new hobby.

For me I think, is a cruise really worth going on now?  For us, no.

I have always have gotten a second chair but then I use please and thank you.

You are very luck.  I was told via E-mail from the office of Jan S.  that you may ask but not always receive.  They don't have enough chair is storage on the ship for everyone.  I was luck too, and got a second chair.

Having someone else doing the cooking and the cleaning is exactly what I'm dreaming of. I am pretty used to handling two kids on my own since we have four so even with my husband around they outnumber us. The youngest would be a baby still, only 9 months and the older one just turned 4. We have cruised before with kids that age but then of course as a couple and usually on ncl/dcl where I guess there are more facilities for children. So missing shows is kind of our thing, we just find cruising pretty relaxing and our kids love it.

Is your 9 month baby going on this cruise?  What about vaccinations for the 9 month old?  Are they doing that?

    s?

I am on Emerald Princess now and was on the Transatlantic portion and now doing the British isle cruise. Yes there was a high outbreak onboard Emerald during TA portion. They tested everyone 2 days after embarkation and took some people to Covid cabins on 12th floor. I would say about 6-7 days into cruise before our first port more people got sick. After first port even more. By the time we hit Bilbao there were a lot more infected. At that point they started requiring masks indoors and stopped all bar counter service. When we docked in Southampton they reques all transit passengers to go thru immigration in Club Fusion abs then go to the dining room to get their Covid test for returning to US. Problem was they were very backed up with Covid tests and only able to email results to you an hour later. So you didn’t know until you were at airport if you were positive. Lots and lots were positive. You then had to figure out what hotel to go to- they are using Ibis abs Radison Blu. At the Radison the hotel was trying to put strangers together in the same room with one bed and if you refused they said you had to pay for room yourself. There is suppose to be a Princess Rep at the hotels but they are non existent. No clear instructions on whether you are there 5 or 10 days. A lot of People are very unhappy with IBIS hotel and leaving to find another hotel. No real support from Princess and poor communication. They should have tested the day before disembarkation since they would still have been within 24 hour deadline but then they would have had to deal with all the positive people. They are deliberating waiting to last minute to test abs not giving you results until you are off the ship so it is t their problem. They ran out of Covid rooms on 12 th floor and started isolating people in their own rooms.

There were a lot of upset people who where missing shuttles to airports due to long Covid testing line on ship this AM. They were telling people to get tested at airport but when they got to airport their were no appointment available in time to meet their flight times. This happened to our traveling companion who ended up testing positive.

Stay safe and healthy.  WOW!  For me, I would be trying to get off the ship at the next port and go home!!

We are driving!  But definitely something to think about if flying!

And also at the pier.  I saw about 12 case slide off a pallet years into the water.  That is when my DH and I started sharing suite cases.

Please post about your cruise when you get back.  I would love to hear about it.

Definitely, we cruise tomorrow.  My husband and I packed separately  this trip…just in case.

Enjoy your cruise.  But, for me I would use the same amount of suitcases and fill them with both your clothing.  Unless you are driving to the port and doing carry-ons, there always is a chance of lost luggage.  And if one person lost a suitcase with all their stuff, they might have to wear a toga made from the bed sheet during their cruise.

  12. Is there any other cruise that you could take?  A different line that you might enjoy. If there is, I would cancel and book with some other TA or with the cruise line.

PS, if you really want to stay with that booking, it would be cheaper for you if the TA left the price the same and you paid the TA her commission  of the amount difference.

Here are the numbers from a reliable source ((Source: San Francisco Department of Public Health)

From and article (https://www.washingtonpost.com/travel/2022/04/27/ruby-princess-coronavirus-outbreaks/) just published in the Washington Post.

    • 37 cases on an Alaskan cruise that docked April 23.  The vaccination rate for crew was 100%, and 99 percent for passengers. (Source: San Francisco Department of Public Health)
    • 143 cases on a 15-day Hawaiian cruise that docked April 11.  The vaccination rate was 100 percent for both crew and passengers, and one person s hospitalized. (Source: San Francisco Department of Public Health)
    • 73 cases on a Panama Canal cruise that docked March 27. (Source: San Francisco Department of Public Health)
    • the ship also announced cases on the Ruby Princess in January (no numbers provided).

The article also noted that the CDC is investigating the Ruby Princess and placed the ship under observation according to its website.  No date was provided as to when that began

The article also included a comment from a Princess spokesperson after the April 11th cruise:  "“The protocols that have been established work. When cases are identified because of the testing onboard, cruise ship protocols help to maximize onboard containment with rapid response procedures designed to safeguard all other guests and crew as well as the communities that the ships visit.”  It also said Princess has not responded to a request for comment on the latest outbreaks.

Are these just the case that were reported on board? Do they know the numbers of PAX that were sick once they were home?
