I was checking out the progress photos on the Carnival site. I saw our deck 6 Havana Premium Balcony in one of the Wet Dock photos, showing the aft.
Pretty cool to see it all come together! I can't wait for cabin photos to make their way out to the internet!

Thank you everyone for the helpful replies!
I'm very much looking forward to our cruise! -
Good to hear that she is going into drydock! We are sailing her in October, so this is good news, for sure!
-
We also lucked out for our April 2018 sailing. Found a Havana Premium Balcony, and had to jump on it.

Wow, thank you everyone!
I appreciate all the replies.

Don't get me wrong, I love my job.
I've never yet experienced a vacation that has made me say, man, I wish I was at work instead. Maybe this will be my first…

Thanks for the quick reply.
I understand what your saying. Personally, I feel like I should give it a go. Any vacation is better than a day at work!

Hi there everyone!
I've started to read reviews on the Sunshine, and I have to say, I'm a little nervous for our first cruise.
A few reviews that I've read claim that the ship has a raw sewage odor that is noticeable when outside, on lower decks. Also, the cabin stewards, and their lack of cleaning cabins. I've also seen a few that talk about the general disrepair of the ship.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not jumping on these few peoples bandwagon, and canceling. I just want to gather some other opinions.

We are booked in a Havana Premium Balcony on deck 6.
When looking at the rendering of the Aft of the ship, that shows the Havana bar, and pool, we are the bottom most, right cabin with the wrap around.
I can imagine that it will be somewhat noisy, with whatever action is going on below, but, I like the fact that we can sit out on our balcony, and take in whatever performance, or music that is going on right below.

Hi there everyone!
Thought I'd make my way over to the Carnival boards, and start to familiarize myself with everything Carnival.
My husband and I are taking out first cruise in October aboard the Anthem (I know), and we are thinking of canceling our Harmony cruise in March of 2017, to pay off our April 2018 cruise aboard Vista, a little easier.
Having never cruised before, I'm very much looking forward to our distant sailing on the Vista. Carnival comes highly recommended from my aunt, who sails exclusively on Carnival at least a few times a year. We are hoping to get her onboard for this sailing, as she doesn't live nearby, and I think it would be great to spend some time together!
Does anyone have any helpful tips, or advice that I should keep in mind, weather it be for our first cruise on RC, or our future cruise on Carnival?
Thanks in advance everyone!
Oh, btw, my name is Andy, and my husbands name is TJ ;)

They've really had some bad luck with the Anthem. From the poor initial reviews, to the storm situation, and now the Noro thing.
Hopefully they get this all straightened out before October...
-
Wow. That looks crazy. Hopefully you guys are almost through it, and everything is okay with the ship, and all the passengers in the end.
-
I've found, personally, that the C&A reps are much more helpful than the regular RCI reps.

We stayed in 6620 on Anthem in Dec. the top of a lifeboat comes part way up the balcony ( not as high as the glass) but it did not bother us. We liked the location of this room.
We're in 6620 this coming October. Doesn't look too bad! I can live with that!
Also, good to know that the bed is closest to the balcony! Now I'm even more pumped for my first cruise!

288 days until Anthem, and 449 days until Harmony. Still seems like an eternity away...

I was just looking at booking a cruise through that agency. I don't mind the cancellation fee, seeing that the pricing is about $500 less than the fare listed on RCs website, and I would be picking up another $150 in OBC.
I understand that it is a bummer, but for me personally, and from what I'm reading, many others, the benefits far outweigh the "negatives".

By April of 2017 the Harmony will have been in service for for close to a year. Hopefully by then they will have all of the bugs sorted out
Good point.

Candles, yes probably so! My husband is in IT with FedEx, and I'm no longer employed or keeping children or grandchildren full time! So, the three cruises in January are solo, building up cruise points for my husband and me! My husband is close to retirement age, but would love to retire and still work somewhere part time.....but the company would have to offer much vacation time! Paid or unpaid!:D He's told his managers at FedEx, he would work there less hours, more time off, but so far no offers!;)
Well, best of luck with that! :D
Maybe we'll bump into each other on a future roll call thread!
Safe sailing on all your future adventures!

We traveled by car to cheap hotels when we were in our twenties. :) We didn't start cruising until both our children were out of school and out of the house! We were in our forties, but had traveled all over the USA with children. So, for the last twenty years, we've been cruising! When our grandchildren complain about having only been on ONE cruise, my response is think how many you will be on by the time you are my age! Your first was when you were 7(and 10) years old, so you have over thirty years more cruising to catch up to the age I was when I started cruising!
Cruise bug.....yep, I got it after my first cruise. I've been on 80 and have three booked for January......more time "off" and more $$$ makes it much easier to cruise now.
Wow, three booked for one month? Someday...
Luckily, I just changed careers and am now working for a very large candle company (chances are you have one in your home!), in a corporate IT position. This has just about doubled my annual salary, and they have a much more generous PTO program than my previous employer. Hopefully, this will give us the opportunity to cruise at least once per year. Twice would be good, but we usually fly down to Orlando area once per year to visit family. Unless, we take a short weekend cruise out of one of the FL ports :D

Be patient-My first cruise was 15 years ago when I was 40-I got the bug and have been on over 50 cruises. When I was in my 20s I couldnt afford to go to the Jersey Shore-and i live here-:D
october will be here before you know it and if your like me half the enjoyment is in the planning
I hope it passes by quickly! And yes, I love the planning aspect as well. I like to have a game plan no matter where we travel. Once we arrive however, it usually goes right out the window and we just wing it. I've found it often works better that way.

Personally, I like the idea of being on a newer ship. Plus, the lower price doesn't hurt at all. However, from a service standpoint, I know (from what I've read) that a newer ship, with a newer crew, can be lacking.
With that still in mind, I would be drawn to the lower price, on the newer ship.

Man, I wish we had the financial ability, and the ability to take enough time off of work, to cruise as often as some of you folks! We're both still young (mid 20s) so we have plenty of time to worry about that. We're still trying to hold it together until October gets here!
-
I'm this excited for my cruise, and it isn't until October! I need to find something to do, to keep my mind off of it!
Anyway, hope you enjoy your cruise!
-
We have selected MTD for our Anthem cruise later in October. Curious to see how your experience continues to play out.
Merry Christmas to you, and yours!

Agree 100%. In that respect, it's kind of a bummer. Otherwise, I look forward to trying it out, just something other than the clam strips.
