  1. Wow I always buy the dining package when I travel on NCL. I just went to go purchase it and where I can use it on the Escape, and guess what, it can only be used at Moderno and Teppanyaki! Every other place is al la carte!

What am I missing? I have always just booked them with my package. Is there an upcharge for Cagneys now?

Also the supper club show for $34.95 has no info as to what type of entertainment:mad:

  2. Hi,

You can cruise for only the cruise cost and gratuities. WHat you add is up to you, $50 soda card, Moderno is only $24.95 per person, so less than $50! DO you really need the internet? There is so much to do on the ship, we really try to disconnect to make it real vacation. If you have to have it, you can get a smaller package and just check it every so often. It really can become annoying because internet is usually much slower than on land. You also have to plan for excursions on port days. Excursions do cost money, so figure out what you want to do and add it into your budget, or you can just get off the ship and walk around the port, thats free!....Don't forget, if you were home, you would be spending money on groceries and gas, so I always take what it would have used for my grocery budget and gas for the week and subtract it from what i'm spending on the cruise.

Relax, you will love it! I could go and not even get off the ship or spend 1 extra cent, and enjoy myself! someone cleans for me, they cook for me and my family, free entertainment, nice pools, excellent food, you will meet some great people on the ship, and some may become good friends. It's like going to a 5 star hotel, and everything is free, I don't have to pay an extra penny, unless I choose to! I love knowing exactly what i'm going to spend before I go, it really helps with my stress levels!:D

  3. The room from hell......as all they are in that row.

There is a vacant construction area under these cabins on the 7th floor. They were installing a new hydraulic door under my cabin....the guys start at 6am.

    Sledgehammers, hammers, guys shouting.

Very reluctantly they moved me after too many hours standing in line.

Upon leaving, the room steward told me people move out of this run of cabins all the time. He said it was indeed construction, but as well the noise of waves upsets folks.

    Just beware.

    Cheers, Barbara

    what room ? what ship????

  4. I just read a few bad reviews on the NCL Escape room 10198. They said it was very loud and there was something banging around in the walls. It also looks like the view from the deck will be blocked from the roof on the 6th floor. Can anyone give me some feedback? Have you stayed in this room or around this room?

    Thank you!:(

  5. Just a quick note for asking and answering the question regarding birthdays. I am sailing on the Gem mid December and the wife has a birthday the 2nd day I been thinking about a birthday cake, decorations and a romantic dinner (renamed birthday dinner) after reading what was asked and answered I am getting all three, It could be a long 11 day cruise if I did not do something Thanks again In case you are wondering she is not turning 21 her youngest daughter is turning 30ish this weekend

Sam, they have a great birthday package, they decorate the room and leave you a birthday cake! You can order it online before the cruise, and when you walk into the room for the first time, its decorated!!!A BANNER, BALLOONS AND CAKE! It really starts the cruise off right! What to do next is my issue!

  6. make sure you have plenty of money on your charge card. In my case, they have held around $300 per day, so thats $2100 being held, then at the end of the cruise, they charge your card, say you spent $1800, that $2100 won't drop off the same day, so you need to make sure you have at least the combined total available, so in my case, $3900. You can also put a cash deposit down when you board instead of using a credit card. The last couple of cruises i pay my grats online before i board and put cash down, this way my credit cards are not tied up in case of an emergency.

  7. My DH's birthday is the day we board the ship. I always get the birthday package with the room decorated and the birthday cake for birthdays onboard, but I would like to plan something else for him. We will be on the Escape. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks:D

  8. Thank you again to everyone that has posted and help to contribute to my goal!

This is what I have learned from all the replies so far:

    1. Start drinking before breakfast

    2. stick with the hard stuff, or beer or wine...stay away from foo foo drinks ( my fave!)

    3. find a bartender, tip them well and they will take care of you

    4.eat less

    5. drink more

    6. stick with si444 in the casino

    7. have a few drinks in rapid succession

    8.just drink your calories

    9. participate in a bar crawl

    10. Drink the Tokyo Drift

    11. Look for the Chocolate Cowboy Bartender..he's the man

    12.Drink faster

13.Drink a couple of shots of Canadian Whiskey or Bourbon in a row

    14. Long Islands and Rum and Coke make for a great buzz

15.Dirty Martinis did the trick for Hollr

16.Just stay in the hot tub all day and have drinks delivered!

    17. start in the morning with Bloody Mary's and Irish coffee, beer or fruity drinks during the day on sea days, then at night Martini's or Vodka Gimlets

18.Uneamie sleeps right through any buzz they get with only 2 or 3 glasses of wine....they need a nap

    19. make sure you are drinking before your meals. You'll want to grab a drink at one of the bars so that you can get one in on a totally empty stomach. Then order a second drink as soon as you sit down and a third when your meal arrives

    20. stay away from the Pina Colada, Daiquiri, sweet type drinks

    21. drink vodka martinis

22.Oh there is a drink in the sunset bar - Blondie008 forget what it is called. It is served in a flute - she wants to say there is star anise in it? Its a good one - It comes with a free shot of "I am the best karaoke star ever" clear.png?emoji-eek-1725

And if the wine fails, the Martinis fail and the Star Anise doesn't hit the spot

There is always Tequila shots and Fireball shots.23.Tito's and pineapple juice..yum!!!

    24. Drink enough to keep a good buzz all day without ending up face down by dinner time! emoji6.png

    25.Cuba libres are lethal!

26.Try 6 glasses of Prosecco with tequila chasers during the afternoon then it`s night ,night see you tomorrow clear.png?emoji-halo-1683 xxx

27.Try liquid marajuana shots and always sit at the bar

28.Stick to stuff that can not be short poured; beer and wine. Or get liquor on rocks with no other mixers

29.Do NOT drink wine unless you enjoy projectile vomiting. Start drinking at breakfast. Have some fried eggs (grease is good) and a couple of screwdrivers . Drink all day, so you build that buzz. Your first two drinks should be on an empty stomach, again eating too much will make your task more difficult.

30.If you can find a bartender who'll mix you one, try an "Adios Mother effer", it's blue , sort of like a Long Island ice tea on steroids:o

  9. Inquire during the "open house" period on the first day. There have been anecdotes where older children were allowed to step down one level, especially if they are not emotionally or developmentally able to be with their peers. They are pretty strict about younger children joining older ones, though.

Thats good to know, she is super tiny and about the size of a 6 year old, so i'm really hoping they will work with us.

  10. I need to know if any has ever been allowed to keep siblings together, one is 12 and one just turned 13, and she is NOT ready for the teen club. What are my chances of them letting the 13 year old stay with her sister? she is the size of a 6 year old, if anyone saw her walking the ship alone, they would think she was lost, and i'm sure they would never believe her when she told them how old she is! There is no way that she is ready to roam the ship unsupervised, which if she is in the teen club, they can come and go as they want.

Is there a way to let the teen club know that she is not allowed to leave? I don't know what to do! Any suggestions?

  11. We were on the NCL Getaway last Fall the week after Thanksgiving (Nov 27 to Dec 4) and the Christmas decorations were not up. When we were leaving the ship the morning of Dec 4 they were decorating as we left. Hope this helps.

Thank you!, what a bummer, the decorations are my favorite part, but kids have mid terms in December and another vaca planned for Christmas / New Years:(
