  1. I’m sitting here chuckling. I’m scanning the boards and come across this

after waking up this morning from a dream that we missed our ship in FLL.

FWIW, we will be driving in the day before. And fully expect what should be a 9ish hour drive to be a bit longer given that it’s the beginning of March and the beginning of spring break.

So so it’ll be a typical rush hour in Atlanta drive for a good bit of the way.

And yes we could fly, but we have a trip to Europe this summer and I’m pinching pennies

    so I can shop there😁

  2. Depends on whether or not it’s a “formal” night.

If it is then 45-60 minutes. If it’s not then 20-30.

    DH 15 minutes.

And a glass of wine on the balcony before dinner is one of the joys of cruising.

Even if I am letting my hair dry at the same time😁

  3. It seems to be the only way I can truly relax and get away from work.

    Unpack one time

    see various new places

    no cleaning

    no cooking

    no laundry

    salt air

    warm sun

rocked to sleep at night (sort of)

and definitely the most budget friendly way of traveling

although we do land travel as well

  4. We were flying out of Munich, boarded the plane , went through the safety spiel, all the whole feeling and hearing power tools under our feet. Long story short, after an hour of this we were offloaded and sent to a new plane. The connection in Frankfurt only waited because our group was 60+ passengers. And this was the first flight of the day.
my point is twofold. Things happen that we have no control over, and because of our delay the flights using that gate were delayed.

  5. We went to Chichen Itza as an excursion and thoroughly enjoyed it.

We had a great tour guide who gave a talk on the drive and that was quite interesting and made the time pass quickly. We did not encounter aggressive vendors, but buyer beware, the straw market had a lot of things that were made in China. Don’t hesitate to look the item over and haggle.

however, we both enjoy history and archaeology.....

would i I do it again? Absolutely.

  6. I also use the shampoo and roll them in a towel. I’ve found that If I then stand on the towel and do a little dance it gets them almost dry, so they only have to hang for a couple of hours.
good idea about tipping or recognition for those doing the laundry.

  7. We were on Koningsdam September 2018.

Lots of music each night, and at various times during the day.

Trivia as well, but I don’t think it was every night.

There are “shows” on the world stage, but don’t expect a Vegas type production.

We thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact we will be on Nieuw Statendam in March.

enjoy Alaska, I’m trying to convince hubby to do that one.

  8. I don’t know if you’d call this a hack, but given how expensive water is in airports I bought collapsible water bottles. They take up very little space and paid for themselves on the first trip. We fill them using glasses at the buffet before leaving the ship. An added bonus is not having to stop exploring to buy water. Now stopping for local pastries or wine is a another story indeed:D

  9. When I was there last year, we got a free shuttle bus to the port entrance, then a tram into Porto. Porto itself is really easy to walk round and is a lovely place to visit. We walked down to the river and sat and had a drink and a bite to eat

That’s what I needed to know, thank you!

  10. We are going to be on the September 16th sailing of the Koningsdam and were wondering if there are any cooking classes on koningsdam. And if there are any, I’m assuming we have to wait until we are aboard to sign up?Any info is greatly appreciated,

    Thanks in advance

  11. Imagine actually viewing original Magna Carta Wish we had sailed from to South hampton but we never did. I feel blessed for all we got to see and do. So many people, hardly leave their home towns. if they took th t first

trip' most would want more. So much to see in our big world.

Yes, so much to see. I can’t imagine not wanting to leave my area and see the rest of the world.

I’m convinced. We are going to Stonehenge. Hopefully we can stop in Salisbury, though I don’t recall seeing that mentioned in the description on the website.

  12. I so strongly urge anyone who will visit Stonehenge to view the Smithsonian show. Wha t science of today has been able to teach the researchers about that wonder is fascinaing and dratgically changes what was previously believed'.

I think ive seen that show, or one similar to it. It sounds like a great day. I think I’m convinced.

  13. good morning, we are trying to decide if the Stonehenge excursion is worth it, or should we just stay in Southampton. Has anyone been on this excursion ? If so how close can you actually get to the stones? We will be on Konigsdam and in Southampton on Sept 18. I did try to use the search, but it just gave me photos:( thanks in advance
