  1. I am a Frequent Flyer with United Airlines. Two years ago I was in Seattle with my family we were late returning our rental car. We missed the fast flight to Los Angeles for the night. We didn't want to spend the night at the airport. United put us on a flight to Houston where we arrived early in the morning. We caught the first flight to Los Angeles no charge.

We were in Kona, Hawaii and United booked us on Hawaiian Airlines flight to Honolulu to connect to the United flight to Los Angeles. Hawaiian wanted to charged us for out luggage. We walked over to United and we were placed on the non-stop flight to Los Angeles no cost.

We arrived early on a cruise in Miami we didn't want to wait three hours at the airport for our scheduled flight. There were six in our party. We had to split up three were placed on a flight via Houston to Los Angeles and three were placed on a flight via Chicago to Los Angeles no charge. I have more examples if you need them.

  2. Most air carriers will place a passenger on the next available flight if the passenger is late arriving at the airport. Some travel credit cards will reimburse the cardholder for miss or delayed connections.if all the travel is purchased on their credit card. The fares are usually lower if the passenger wants to deviate and uses his own air carrier. Credit Card holders and Frequent Flyers usually have a baggage allowance for themselves and other passengers traveling on the same ticket.

  3. Check out itasoftware owned by Google, Hipmunk or Kayak. Use the Multi-City option. Select the departure city and arrival city. The next line select the departure city and the arrival city. The itasoftware options gives various departure dates zero to plus or minus two days this will display the lowest fares. We were in Hartford, Connecticut for a wedding last summer. The rental car prices are lower in Connecticut at a city off away from the airport. There was no drop charge for returning the rental car to airport in New York City. You can take an Amtrak from Newark Airport to any major city in Connecticut or one of the shuttle buses.

  4. We flew from Heathrow to CDG on Ryan Air last year. The lines were long but moved fast. We took Ryan Air Shuttle to Paris for about $5.00 per person prepaid.

  5. If you travel a lot you should sign up for your favorite airline credit card and use the sign up bonus to obtain to obtain your tickets. We flew from Los Angeles to Abu Dhabi on KLM one was just under $400.00 one way. Cruise from Abu Dhabi to Rome. Vueling Air Rome to Munich. Munich to Los Angeles on United using miles. Try looking at round trip to Rome the fares may be lower than an open jaw. The European air carrier fares are very low compared to train travel. I was in Europe a couple of years ago and I used Vueling and Ryan Air. I found Ryan Air the best. Vueling charged me a $100.00 for a carryon bag on a flight from Rome to Munich. The bag was a standard size carryon bag.

This year my trip from Rome to Munich. After looking at all the available I selected Vueling. This time Vueling service was a lot better and no trouble with my carryon. I printed their carryon specifications for Vueling in case there was a problem. The travel time from Rome to Munich by train is about twelve and less than two hours by plane.

  6. I travel internationally, to Europe, to Asia etc, and although a heavy converter is nice, I have never once needed one. The reason is most electronics (iPhone, iPad, camera batteries) are dual voltage. I also have a mobility scooter, and a CPAP machine, all of which are dual voltage. Many hairdryers today, have a dual voltage switch.

With luggage being restricted to 50lbs and cruise ships not liking power cord/surge protectors/power strips it's nice not having to bring a converter that can be taken and held to the end of the cruise. I would rather pack 3 complete outfits than having to carry a converter in my luggage.

Part of using what I suggested is knowing what you have, and understanding what you have.

That is true with dual current devices but there are some devices that are made in the United States that only uses 110 volt like electric tooth brushes and waterpiks. As long as the user knows what the require voltage it is fine to use the adapter.

  7. Insten 5X USA US to EU Europe Travel Power Adapter Converter Wall Plug

Google this. Cost $1.49 at Walmart. Buy a couple. Make sure you only use this with items that will charge on 240v such as an iPhone, iPad, many camera batteries etc.

This doesn't convert the 220 to 110 it only allows access to 220. Electrical appliances that only works with 110 will burn out. You need a 220 to 110 converter. The convertor can be purchased at Best Buy, Amazon or luggage store cost about $12.00. The converters are small and has three or four adapters for different size country wall plugs. The small converters is not recommended for use longer than one half hour. I purchased a large converter up to 200 watts in Tahiti weights about four pounds.

  8. American Express recently discontinued their Emergency Evacuation and Transportation policy. Their Stand Alone Policy cost $32.00 for a $100,000 per person before it was discontinued. Their policy provided sixty days of coverage. The attached chart shows the benefits provided by three different credit card companies. The total cost of the trip must be paid on the credit card for the policy to be effective.

  9. We used Rome Airport Shuttle Limo Service. We made reservations online with the service. We received a confirmation a short while later with the driver name and payment instructions. We were instructed to pay the driver at the end of the trip. The driver was waiting for us on the pier. The driver dropped us at the hotel. We scheduled a trip to the airport a couple of days later. The same driver arrived at the hotel on time. He dropped us off. We found the service very good, reasonable priced and no advanced payment required.

  10. Just to correct this, Oceania is owned by NCLH. That is a holding company that owns Regent Seven Seas and has part interest in NCL. Might have changed since I invested last. (missed a good ride again)

Contacting NCL would be as useful as contacting Regent. Contacting NCLH would be as (not) useful as contacting Berkshire Hathaway to sort out an issue with your Geico insurance.

As LHT28 advises find out which one is missing and then as per Ken the cruiser simply phone O. I agree with him. The phone is a very effective, though old fashioned tool

Being as you do not have a TA, call O and ask for Loyalty rewards department. If they say then cant transfer you directly, and maybe they are not allowed, the just ask for a supervisor as the CSR who booked your cruise is not responding. That CSR in any case does bookings and would need to the Loyalty department to sort the issue so they will not have an instant answer. Getting in touch with the rewards dept would be more efficient I think if you can speak with them directly.

    .

I did speak to someone in the Loyalty Department they were going to check and get back to me. I am having my travel agent work on it now. This is what I submitted to Oceania and they can review my account. "MY ACCOUNT: OCEANIA CLUB

    You have 2 Cruise Credit(s)

You need 3 more credit to reach Bronze status

If my agent is unable to resolve I will have to right a letter to NCL.

  11. If it were me I would be calling my Oceania personal cruise consultant (not emailing), tell her what's happen so far and ask her to please check it our for me. Knowing her as we do, she would find out what's going on and get back with us especially if she knows we're looking to booking another cruse.
I placed a call to her this morning and left a message.
  12. Was reading the reward list by loyalty category and am unsure what one of them means. I'm sure you experts can answer my question. ;)

Starting with the Gold category (and up), it lists "two complimentary Custom Air Fee Waivers (a value of $350)". What are these, how do they work and why would someone want them?

One other question: after we sail on our first Oceania cruise of 7 days, we will only earn one loyalty credit, right? It says the Blue category (lowest) requires 2 credits, so someone would have to sail on at least 2 cruises to even qualify for joining Oceania Club?

I have three cruises with Oceania two ten day cruises and one fourteen day cruise. All three cruises are shown in my account. My Membership Levels shows two cruises and I need three more credits to reach Bronze Status.

I requested the account be corrected using their on line form a couple of weeks ago. I receive a confirmation that my request was received, No one contacted me after a week. I called in spoke to a representative who told me to send an E-mail to the Loyalty Department, I sent an E-mail to the Loyalty Department with the booking codes and all the sailing dates. A representative called and said she would review the information and get back to me. The representative never called back. I sent an E-mail to my agent at Oceania Cruise no reply.

The parent company is NCL. Do I have to write to NCL to have the account updated. I was planning another cruise but I don't want to take another cruise with Oceania if they are not going to post the cruise credits to my account.

  13. I have purchase shares in Royal Caribbean and Carnival cruises lines. I received the shareholders discount on my first request with each of them I was a little late transmitting the information to Carnival. Carnival applies the credit within a couple of days. I purchased my cruise tickets from a travel agent.

I booked a cruise on NCL from a travel agent and I received a message from NCL “Thank you for your shareholder benefit request. Take note the shareholder benefit is not combinable with the current offer on your booking.

The offer you have is better than the shareholder benefit , so it’s best to leave your booking with the current offer.”

I remember taking a trip with my father when I was about ten years old to Trinidad and Tobago on The Lady Rodney sailing out of Boston stopping at all the English islands. The first stop was Hamilton, Bermuda. There were stops in St. Kitts, St Vincent, Grenada, Barbados and a couple other islands. The Lady Rodney was about 12,000 tons. We returned to New York from Trinidad non-stop to New York aboard the SS Argentina about 33,000 tons.

1950 we sailed to Europe on the SS France and returned on the SS LIberte. I can remember the rough seas returning from France of the SS Liberte during October 1950.

1970 Sailed from Honolulu aboard the SS Lurline to Los Angeles.

May 1975 I sailed from New York with my two Children for a 21 day cruise to Italy and back aboard the SS Michelangelo. About three days out of New York the ship lost part of one of it propellers. The ship made it to Italy without a stop in Casablanca. The propeller was replaced at the dry dock in Genoa within forty-eight hours while we stayed at a hotel.

I remember taking a cruise aboard an Italian Liner ship from Buenaventura, Colombia to Caracas, Venezuela. I think the name was the SS Rossini.

Many cruise in Caribbean aboard the Costa Line, Royal Caribbean Line, NCL and Carnival. We were on the SS Norway when there was a power failure and we drifted for almost two days before the power was restored.

Recent cruises on Holland America to Alaska, Celebrity through the Panama Canal. Los Angeles to Valparaíso, Chile aboard Carnival line
