You can always get a discount I’ve never paid full price yet. As has been said, waiters are generally outside the buffet looking for customers. You can always make a deal.

Hi Steve. You say NOT elitist, but then you say he talked down to you and did a “magic trick”?You can interpret it any way you want , the waiter pissed us off so we won’t be back.

... as in too formal or too elitist or food too upscale or too very matter of fact one of the best restaurants on S Class Ships?
bon appetit and bon voyage
We didn’t think it was too formal , elitist or to anything. The main issue we had was with the waiter, we felt like he talked down to us and seemed more interested in the larger group near us. When he brought the chateaubriand for two he lifted the lid of the serving plate like a magician unveiling one of his greatest tricks. We just thought it was over the top for the meal we had. Most here will disagree it seems, but that was our experience, we will stay with Tuscan and the Lawn club.

We found Murano to be very pretentious . Lawn Grill is fabulous!

Canceling our May Baltic.

Australia is our next trip after we do the Baltic next year.. I think that they are very similar to Canadians in a lot of ways more so than Americans.

Its actually cheaper for us to fly from Toronto to London UK than to fly to Vancouver BC!!!
I know it’s cheaper to fly to London than Florida from here, it’s a no brainer which one to pick!

We have done lots of Caribbean cruises and they were great, but we are now finding that the flights from BC to Florida are sometimes more expensive than flying to Europe.

We had been booked for the Baltics with Celebrity for August of this year but cancelled aka Attempt #6. LOL We chose HAL because it overnights in St. Petersburg and Stockholm. We also wanted to be sure that we would be cruising the archipelago and HAL was the only one that openly stated that. But, no matter which cruise line you choose, its going to be amazing. Which tour company are you using for St. Petersburg? We're going with Alla's Grand Two Day plus the evening at Faberge.
We’re with TJ tours one of the couples we are going with used them before and highly recommended them. We also overnight in St Petersburg so it’s a two day tour.

It’s our first time in the Baltic but the third try to get on this trip, covid canceled this year’s trip and the year before we moved it on our own . Looking forward to it, and will visit Ireland after the cruise.

Hi everyone I just discovered this Canadian forum, it’s a nice addition to CC. I usually spend my time on the Celebrity forum , witch is predominantly U.S., and I sometimes think that they would like it that way. We have a cruise booked for the Baltic in May 2022. with a group that we met in 2019 on our Med cruise . Glad that I found you guys!

Bit of history here. Although Cruise Critic now has a '.co.uk' branch, it originated as a Chat Room on AOL. That is America On-Line.
It sounds a little bit to me that would like a international board, and a America only board with that comment .

While I agree that it is questionable whether there will be cruising in 2021, why throw in the towel now. Canada(which is where I live) made a unilateral decision to in essence cancel cruising to Alaska. I thought that I would see more collaboration between Canada and the US on issues. Why not have discussions between Canada and the US around cruising and come up with a joint release regarding Alaska(and the east coast as well).
We have not seen either the US or Europe cancel cruising until 2022. Europe is looking for ways to open. Not sure about the US, but am guessing they are as well.
I have cancelled a number of trips, cancelled as well. We have all made sacrifices over the last year due to the pandemic. It should be a last resort to cancel cruising once it has been determined there are no other ways of making cruising work. It appears to me that this is some bureaucratic response to an issue they dont want to spend any time trying to come up with a solution.
Sorry about the rant, but this makes me so mad that the government is not trying to find solutions to problems, without having to shut everything down. I understand, and agree for the most part, with the decisions made to date. However, we do have vaccines coming and we need to open up.
While travelling is a leisure activity to me, it is a business for many people. I don't have to travel. However, many people in the business are going to lose everything that have if we do not open up. We can not forget about those people, whose livelihoods are based on tourism. How sad it is for them.
Do you really think that the people who live in ports that ships visit want cruise ships to dock this year!- 7

How would someone from Victoria, BC not know how to use Google?
You don’t need Google to see how things are going in other parts of the world, I’ll take my chances with Dr. Henry! Stay safe!

Who says masking and social distancing don't work? Anti-maskers and poor leadership is why the U.S. has failed to control the virus, but see how Australia and New Zealand are doing.
And as far as Dr. Bonnie Henry is concerned: "A viral list of COVID-19 pandemic advice attributed to British Columbia chief medical officer Dr. Bonnie Henry is not only fake, it’s dangerously inaccurate."
How would someone from Tennessee have any first hand knowledge of what Dr. Henry is saying or doing to get B.C. through the pandemic. Everyone would be doing a lot better if they had someone like her.

Equinox would probably be our favorite Celebrity ship also, IF it had the Lawn Club Grill and Porch. 🙂
I agree it needs a Lawn Club Grill, not sure why they didn’t add it when they did the refurbishment. -

The post states there were over 500 new cases in BC. Are you saying this post was false?
That would be a report over the weekend Friday ,Saturday, and Sunday numbers added together.

Great thread, thank you for starting this @German Cruiser.
2000 on the Celebrity Mercury, it was our honeymoon ten years late.
Our first cruise was also on the Mercury to Alaska with the family in 2003 . We had a great time, we met our waiter Joseph years later as the Maitre’d on the Reflection. -
Really liked Spain including Barcelona even though they got my phone!

P for all the nice people we’ve met.
F for the friends that we now have from cruising.

I was at a Celebrity promo event today and we were told that all ships would be at 50 % for all of 2022.
