  1. This a great review.. Thanks so much.   Many of us struggle to determine the difference.  Quick question.

Do any of these locations have feeding stations for the monkey/sloths?  I ask because I have a peanut allergy (please no negative comments about the allergy) and I know peanuts are a common treat for monkeys.  I want to make sure before I show up.

  2. Cruise ship is in bermuda over the weekend which means there are no ferries running.

How would I go about getting Blue Hole Park from the port?  I know I could take a taxi that would be around 60 dollars (1 way).    Is there another way that is less costly and not complicated?    Also is it worth going or should I consider something closer to the port.

We did the excursion in April and will never do it again.  We had to ride an uncomfortable bus to a marina (more than 30 minutes away), then take the catamaran to St John (more than 30 minutes).  By the time we got to St John (Honeymoon Beach), we had about 30-40 minutes on the beach before they started taking us back out to the catamaran.  We were 1.5 hrs late getting back into town.  We had planned to take a taxi to Magen's Bay for the afternoon, but traffic was horrible due to Carnivale and getting back so late scratched that plan.  Honeymoon Beach on St John was absolutely beautiful, but the excursion was not what we thought it was going to be.

Thanks... It does seem like you don't get enough time on the island to enjoy it.  We are looking at Water island

Here's a good semi-recent vlog for water island / dinghy's / snorkeling. It is still in our plans as of right now. The boat traffic seems to be funneled into the north side of the beach; at least that which would interfere with snorkeling for sea turtles.

Curious when you will be heading to water island?   Would love to know your feedback after going.

  5. Thanks.. I had originally a much later flight BUT the flight was changed by the airline and unfortunately we are flying into a mini-airport so we don't even have another airline to switch to.  😞 I hate the time change!!!

I was looking at Portofino but our last day is Labor Day weekend and I'm worried the parks will be insanely busy.

  6. Has anyone taken an excursion w/Rhino Riders?   The trip advisor reviews seem great but there is some weird reference to getting pictures if you write a review.

It appears to start at Simpson Bay.   Are there any beaches close by that we could go immediately after to relax before jumping back on the ship.

  7. We will be staying 1 extra day post cruise.   I'm looking for a hotel for us to stay at for the day that will be teen friendly and let us hang by the pool until our room is ready.

We don't care about going to a theme park because we assume lines/crowds will be crazy.  So hoping for a hotel w/a great pool (maybe a slide or 2) and it's super far from the airport.  We have a 8am flight out the next day.

  8. Blue-water --- Thanks SO MUCH.. Very appreciated.  I have been told multiple times that the ferry and transport isn't reliable and avoid going to St Johns.    It sounds to me that it won't be the problem.   Thanks for the info.

Anything you recommend seeing in St Johns besides Trunk beach?

  9. Is it worth it to take the RC hosted excusion from St Thomas to St Johns?   It says the excursion is 4 hours long w/2 hrs in St Johns.    I never take a cruise hosted excursion but I have heard people have issues with ferrying back and forth (timing) on their own.

Just not sure 2 hours is much time to do things or worth it..

I just got back from my cruise yesterday and we did the Ruins and Bacalor Lagoon tour with NATIVE CHOICE and it was wonderful!

We got our educational activity in and we got to play in the water and have lunch and drinks!  They are a first class group that has comfortable vans with great guides!

I agree there was a bit more walking then we thought there would be it was great to see the ruins.

I was looking at this for my family.  My daughter is 11.  do you think it is interesting enough for her to enjoy it?

I put up a post up about the Fascination yesterday, im just seeing this for the first time. Any tips for Barbados or St. Lucia for someone traveling with a toddler? Never been to either port.

I would just do a beach day in barbados.  There are a lot of great beach clubs that are kid friendly.

St Lucia - i don't have a recommendation there but i would check the port boards.  They should have some good options.

  12. yes,  I did it 2 years ago.  We had the greatest time.  They will customize to whatever you want.. example:  we had my 10 yr old and we didn't want to go to a tequila factory so we went to the chocolate factory instead.

Some basic kids choices and portions offered on a kids Menu, charged at reduced kids rate.  I'm sure someone will give Menu item's, which Rest you looking at?

I'm looking for all of them if possible.   you would think they are easy to find but apparently not.

My friends want to do unlimited specialty but I need to make sure they will have adequate items for her to select from.  She doesn't eat fried food which is common on the kids menu.
