  1. We will be in port for the full day. Looking for activity to do with our kids, ages 5 and 8.

We love to hang at the beach, but from what I can tell the beaches aren't as beautiful as some of the other islands. And taxis to get there are very expensive.

Does anyone have a nice beach recommendation that is beautiful and not too busy with beach bars, etc?

    Any other suggested activities?

St. Lucia is the island that has got me confused for activities.

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

  2. I am looking for a beautiful beach with light colored sand. We will be in port for the full day and wish to go to a secluded beach with our young kids. Not attracted to the busy beaches with beach bars, loungers, etc.

Just looking for a gorgeous beach and calm waters for swimming.

From pics I have seen, Majors looks beautiful.

Anyone been there? Or have any other suggestions?

Would taxis be willing to make the trip to Majors?

    Thanks so much

  3. I am wondering what type of entertainment will be onboard for our Oct 31 x 10 night sailing to the Eastern Carib.

I am really hoping David Cats will be onboard, as we have two children ages 5 & 8 and I would like for them to see him.

Does anyone know how to see what acts will be scheduled? Generally speaking, do children enjoy some of the shows?

    Thanks!!

  4. I am looking at a 10-night cruise in the fall on the Royal Princess.

Pricing is for Eastern Carib itinerary for 4 ppl (2 adults, 2 children ages 5 & 8) sharing one room. Prices include all taxes and fees. Gratuities additional.

Inside category IB: $2989 USD (3798 CDN)

Obstruced Balcony Category DZ: $4156 USD (5280 CDN)

The inside cabin is a sideways cabin in a good location on the Riviera deck. The balcony cabin is forward facing above the bridge on Lido. Oversize balcony, steel rather than plexi up to railing.

New to Princess and I don't know whether these are great prices, average, or high. Sucks to be Canadian right now, as our pricing is so much higher with the poor exchange rate. Not to mention flights..

    Feedback much appreciated!!

    Thank you.

  5. We are staying in L101 on the Regal right now on the Eastern Carib route and have been happy we picked a front balcony. Sitting the wind has never been more then a slight breeze. Standing at the railing the wind has ranged from very slight to windy but we've yet to go out there and have the wind drive us back inside.

It is so quiet up front. Most of the time it feels like we are alone on the ship. Very very quiet out on the balcony and in the hallways.

Only negative is we do miss the view of the water when sitting reading and relaxing.

I think we may look at an aft cabin for our next cruise but wouldn't hesitate to book a lido deck front cabin again.

Thanks for your reply!! I am excited for you to be on your cruise right now. Ha ha. I have to wait until the fall, but am also doing the Eastern Carib route.

One more question for you - is the deck nice to use in the evenings after the sun has gone down? Or would it be too windy and dark? I just wonder if we will be so busy that we will not get to use it much in the day....

    Enjoy :)

  6. We were in cabins M101 and M103 on the Regal on February 15th cruise and LOVED the cabins. There were many days when wind was not an issue at all but on a couple of occasions it was too windy to spend much time on the balcony. We happened to have been upgraded to these rooms and were very pleased. The balcony doors were never locked and both the room and balcony were very spacious. Enjoy!

Thanks for the feedback Erber! Glad to hear you liked the cabins. Just wondering if you were able to use the deck much in the evenings after the sun went down? Would it get windier that time of day or would it be pitch black out there? I am thinking we will be pretty busy during the day and wonder if evenings would still be an option to use the deck? Otherwise I might have to reconsider if it's worth it for us.....thanks!

  7. I see my hubby beat me to the response. Yes the balcony door was unlocked for the entire cruise so we had full use of this enormous balcony the whole time. I'll attach a pic of the room now. It was cat DZ deluxe balcony. Hope this helps. :)

Hi! I know this is an older post, but I wanted to see how you enjoyed the deck on L102 Royal Princess? Looks like we will be sailing at the same time you did in that cabin. We are going to Eastern Carib. Just wondering if the deck was too windy to enjoy? Or was it manageable?

Thank you so much!! We are trying to decide if we should take this cabin. It's currently on hold until Saturday for us :)

    Cheers,

    Jennifer

  8. What's your opinion on this cabin? It's at the front of the ship above the bridge with a larger sundeck.

Would you take this cabin over a regular balcony? It's on Lido which is great, and has a nice large deck. But, are you concerned about too much wind?

Any input would be helpful. Was ready to book, but then this cabin opened up today which has thrown my decision. Lol.

    Thanks!!

  9. My son, 8, loves sushi. Could eat it everyday. I would love for him to be able to get some sushi on the cruise. I understand it's available at Vines, but probably not great for kids given that you have to order a drink. And I am certain he would want to eat more than provided. Lol.

Is it ever featured in the buffet on occasion?

    Thanks!

    Jennifer

  10. I wouldn't book a cabin beneath public deck. Way too much noise not just from loungers being moved but power washing in the wee hours of the morning, carts being rolled from one end to the other, etc. Also, don't forget that there's no staircase midship so to go up just one deck, you'll have to wait for an elevator unless you walk to either the forward or aft stairs.

Thanks Pam. Good to know. I am a light sleeper so I have already begun looking at other options. Am thinking of switching to the Aloha deck :)

  11. I tried an inside cabin for the first time. I am claustrophobic and was worried that I couldn't make it work. My first cabin was C335 and it was very nice, but the noise from a vent or air conditioning system kept me up all night. they moved me the next day to a lower category cabin, not as nice, but quiet. It worked great. I could sleep so well and didn't mind the inside at all. Do I still like having a balcony? You bet, but I like to cruise and am mostly solo, so I like saving the $$$$ even more. It's nice to know and thought I'd share.

    Happy cruising. Alice

    Hi Alice,

I just booked my first inside on the Royal - a sideways quad cabin as we are traveling with our two kids. Just wondering how the second cabin you were assigned was not as nice as the first? What were the differences? Would love to know what differences there can be other than ship location.

Glad you had a great cruise!

    Jennifer

  12. I'd recommend the balcony for someone with children that age.

Thanks Geoherb for your input. It's a difficult decision. Just curious to know why you recommend balcony based on their ages?

Is it because they are too young to stay in a connecting stateroom on their own or because they would really enjoy the room?

We were thinking we could sleep one adult/one child per room if needed.

    Thanks again :)

  13. We are a family of four (two kids 5 & 8). a

We are excitedly booking a cruise on the Royal Princess for 10 nights to the Eastern Caribbean! The only problem is we are torn between two stateroom choices.

Perhaps some of you experienced cruisers can give us some advice because we don't know which option would be more enjoyable.

We are looking at Balcony cabin (category BY) above the promenade at the aft of the ship. View can look aft and straight out. Looking forward we would see the lifeboat. Looking down we see the promenade. Good enough view to us. 8th deck. One queen and two pullman beds for the kids. NO COUCH.

The second option is two connecting interior staterooms. Kids would have one twin bed each and of course we could have our queen bed in the other room.

It's difficult to decide - balcony vs extra space.

What do you think? We have rooms on hold only until 8 pm tonight so we are trying to decide today.

    All input is much appreciated!!

    Thank you

    Jennifer

  14. I am hoping to book connecting inside cabins on the Royal Princess, as we will be traveling with our two little ones.

It's really hard to see pics of how the layout is. I would really like to see into their room easily, but I wonder if the connecting door is near the entrance instead?

Anyone know if the door can be permanently propped open?

    Thanks!!

  15. Cruise agent here..though I love Princess, I would never book a young family on Princess, only because there are better choices for kids...everyone in the cruise travel industry knows that Princess, HAL & Celebrity are geared towards the mature passenger..we are going on the Regal next month, but for young families, I would try (in order) RCI's Oasis/Allure Of The Seas, Freedom class ships ( there are 3), Disney Dream/ Fantasy ( $$), or NCL Getaway, or the Carnival Breeze, Dream, or Magic..all these ships have KID'S pools areas designed for kids..the RCI ships have a skating rink with Russian, Canadian & US skaters dancing to great music, and they always bring children out to be involved in the show- and on the Oasis & Allure, they have a Boardwalk area with a carousel, Johnny Rockets for burgers & malts, and an AMAZING dive & water show in the Aqua Theater..a MUST for all-kids LOVE it! Disney is $$, but IN ANOTHER class by itself...the new NCL Getaway has slides, and a ropes course that kids like , and all these ships have amazing video arcade rooms with hi tech games now, full court Basketball, mini golf & Disney & NCL have FIREWORKS at night...personally, if I had kids that age I would choose Oasis/ Allure, Disney ( NOT the Wonder or Magic), then NCL, then Carnival...go to You Tube and look at videos of these ships- you will be stunned at what they have for kids now...again, we love Princess..have been on 30 cruises, including ALL but Costa & MSC ( BTW, MSC Divina is a great choice for kids!)..any specific questions here, give a shout...

Thank you for all the details. Those ships and cruise lines sound great and I has researched them all. The only thing is our key attraction is the ports, not the ship amenities. We want to visit a lot of ports in the east or south Caribbean and can't find any that are port intensive other than princess or serenade of the seas. These are leaving from Florida. We cannot make it to San Juan so these seemed like the best choice.

Do you have any suggestions for a cruise visiting 5-6 ports?

    Thanks

    Jennifer.

  16. Thanks for all the great pics Blaise. I can't complain about a thing. To get a room of that sizes with those windows and that view - I will take it!

There's always something to complain about on a ship, but not often do you have a room to rave about with space and windows like this.

    Thx

  17. I just got off the phone with Princess.

The 10-night Eastern Carib currently has 3 children booked.

The 10-night Southern Carib currently has 4 children booked.

Needless to say, there's a lot of time before departure date and it could acquire more children; but, so far just a small few.

However, they did confirm that the kids club will still be operating.

Do you think there would be many adults in their 20s, 30s, 40s? Husband and I are both 40.

    Thanks!
