  1. We just received our second up sale offer. Both offers came by email, so make sure you read your Carnival email. The first was 2 years ago from an OV to a balcony on Lido via email and I promptly called them back and accepted the offer for $200 and surprised DH and DD with that cabin. Because of that we have booked other Lido cabins since. We love being either on Lido or not far from it. The second offer came just this week. DH got an email that said I was emailed and he was CC'd but I didn't get the email and because of that it seemed very sketchy! The email looked suspect the Rep's extension number was a different color in the email and it just seemed off. We thought for sure it was an email phishing scam. DH called the main Carnival line and explained and gave the rep's name from the email and they reassured him that he indeed works there and was making offers. He was transferred to his voicemail. As soon as I got home from work I called his number and extension and he answered. He said that his calls all day went unanswered and as people are getting home from work he is getting lots of call backs. I accepted the offer! It moved us from a balcony on Panorama to our first Suite on deck 7 for $420 total for the 3 of us. This cruise was already more than what we normally pay, as summer cruises always are. This cruise is an extension of Disney trip and the cruise is a total surprise to DD! We are so excited to surprise her. We have to decide when to tell her! The rep said that they were offering this because we are 6 weeks out from our cruise and the suites haven't sold to Carnival's liking. He said that they are offering this to some of their loyal, return customers.

  2. We love Sunshine too!!! Why our family loves her is mainly because of all of the restaurant options, water slides and ropes course. We've been on Valor which is similar to Liberty and she is also great we loved the seafood place but, I understand their is an upcharge for that now. I think that your travel companions would be happy either way but I believe the 12 year olds will really enjoy the 3 water slides! I don't really understand Sunshine's bad reviews! I find having all of the additional options that Sunshine has, makes her our favorite so far.

  3. We just returned from our Carnival Sunshine cruise 10/1-8, we had an amazing cruise and I am in love with Bermuda! Before getting off the ship in Bermuda the announcements from or CD Emma, said that anyone 16 or older needed a photo id for security. My nephew is 15 and my sister questioned whether or not she should take his passport off the ship. I said well he isn't 16yet, however we always carry ours off just in case we ever had an emergency and somehow missed the ship. She took it just in case and it's a good thing that she did! Security in Bermuda requires it when parents last name does not match the child. This is not something that ever crossed our minds. I do not know how much trouble it would have been if she had left it in her safe. This is the first time that she has encountered this while cruising. I just wanted to make families aware that are traveling to Bermuda with different last manes from their children, so that they can be prepared with documentation.

  4. Hope you have smooth sailing and that Matthew stays far away!

Just off the Sunshine last Saturday. NY embarkation was a breeze.

Please stop by the Alchemy bar and tell Parviz, Alexandru and Ramko that Butch and Gail said hello! Best bar on the ship hands down!

Do you have any favorite drink reccomendations from Alchemy?

  5. I know I am the exception, not the rule, but I hate a soft towel. I want them tough like when dried outside with no fabric softener. I hate when they are new and soft.

I thought I was the only one!!! The crispier the better:p But I do not travel with my towels. Carnival towels are just fine and the fewer things I have to pack the better!
