  1. An Onboard Credit is simply a credit against any charges you make. You can't specify how you want them used. If you have $200 OBC, the first $200 you spend is covered. If you try to use them in the casino, I believe there is a 5% charge for taking "cash" out...which is NOT a good use of "free" money!

I think you have to take the OBC for the Casino as credit to play, until it is used. Never took it out as cash.

If anyone is like us, we use our IPhone and IPad a lot, so we use our OBC towards Wifi. Wifi is very pricey. Last TA we were on, there was a cheaper rate promotion pre Cruise for Wifi than the sale price on board. Still expensive, but I like to keep in touch with friends and family while we are away.

  2. Another thread I saw here mentioned passengers from suites dining in Blu - not just Aqua Class suites. Is this a new "perk" for regular suites now?

    Thanks.

As far as we were told, Aquaclass had first choice for tables, and IF there was anything available, THEN Suites could ask for a table.

But didn't have a problem but a couple of nights we had to wait about 15 minutes.

  3. Ship: Solstice

    Deck - 11

    Cabin # 1592

    Class – Aqua

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Balcony

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Cabin was below the forward area of the pool (about even with the bar). Could hear chairs being moved, carts, people walking. Chair noise woke us up early a few times.

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – great unobstructed view, but the overhanging deck 12 shaded us from any sun. View of lifeboats was mildly annoying.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal Size balcony, we had ours opened up to cabin 1590 (cruising partners) so it seemed even bigger.

Was wind a problem? Somewhat, but was quiet with the door shut.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? n/a

Any specific problems with this cabin? None

Just a note back and wondering about the remark about seeing the lifeboats. They would have to be below, I imagine as Aqua is deck 11.

  4. Did anyone have a frozen toasted almond? What about a dirty monkey?

I loved those dirty monkeys, but had them on the Royal Princess. Never thought to ask on Celebrity. But will now!!

  5. Has nothing to do with Aqua class and is free for all guests. They do have a few items which are extra charge, such as fresh squeezed juices, yogurt parfaits and smoothies but they're covered with the Classic package.

Thanks for the note about the Aquacafe.

  6. Sushi on 5 (for a charge - a la carte pricing). Aqua Spa Cafe (smaller, less hectic buffet featuring lighter/healthier fare). I think the grill by the pool might be open (burgers, dogs etc.) - but not certain. If you happen to be booked in Concierge Class there is lunch in the main dining room available and if in a suite Luminae is open. Never done select, so can't help you on that.

Is the Aqua Spa Cafe an extra charge? Does it have anything to do with Aquaclass. Have seen it many times, but never gone.

  7. Most of the times it takes too long or we don't receive the tags from Celebrities.

Never thought of decorating the tags, just easily print them up and have plastic tag holders for them. Less paperwork in the mail the better.

I discovered I didn't have my tags about three hours before boarding, so was happy to have them. No big deal picking up our luggage just around the corner on the same level.

Just one less thing I had to worry about at the pier.

  8. I didn't have my express pass either. Forgot to print up luggage tags too. Totally forgot everything. We were flying to England for two weeks and then 5 days in Rome before our cruise, so was just focused on all that. Luckily our friends had two extra tags. Put them on ours. Dropped them at dock with a tip for the luggage guys and then picked them up at their cabin when they came on board.

Let me tell you, at the time, I was totally stressed out about all of that, but got it all sorted out. Won't be ever happening to me again though. Ha. Ha.

  9. Any issues to be aware of at pier?

We did forget to sign up online on our last cruise. Just completely forgot. Just had to fill out a couple of extra forms before we embarked. Not a big deal at all, just faster having the paperwork with you.[emoji3]

  10. Yes, it seems certain times are busier than others. People wanting to eat earlier or later, depending on the show entertainment. They always check on your room numbers at the front desk to make sure that you are in Aquaclass also.

  11. There is no fee to dine in Blu for suite guests! Sorry, but it used to be $5.

    Ditto!

I think that Suite guests just have to make sure that there is a table available as it is mainly for Aquaclass. At least that is what we had been told.

  12. I really liked The Blu restaurant for Breakfast. Really, not that much difference, I felt in this restaurant as in the Main dining room. The atmosphere is less busy though than the Main Dining room. The food is very good.

  13. The hardest part of leaving a Celebrity Cruise is that you can't find anything even close to as good as Café Al Bacio anywhere. It's amazing how prompt the service is and how amazing all the drinks and pastries are.

Just counting down the days until our next cruise now!

I will say, I've been looking into buying some sets and teas from TeaForte (who provide the glassware and teas to the Celebrity ships). Such an amazing product!

  14. CAFÉ al BACIO!!!

This is my favorite place on Celebrity ships! The Ceylon Gold iced tea is truly crisp, cold, and refreshing! I always have my husband share it as it makes an entire pitcher! Everything is soooooooo good! We are cruising at the end of November, so have to wait a while! Drat!!!

I was just talking to my husband about Cafe el Bacio and their Aspen Coffee and the dessert in the evening. Wonderful lattes too.

I loved it there. Aspen Coffees were the best and dessert too. Yum. Yum.

  16. This is a funny thread... Just a little while ago i read about people asking for a top sheet... Not liking the duvet... NOW we have top sheets and people want duvets! SMH ... Hotels had blankets and bedspreads for years and it was fine... The choices are... Live dangerously and use the comforters, ask for or bring duvet cover... Or stay home and you could still get noro... It is every where... So whatever you decide to do learn to keep your hands out of your mouth and off your face... Wash your hands often. Life is too short!

Agree, agree Bev. Also, don't pick your nose!! Ha. Ha.

  17. Would never pre tip. We let our steward know what are preferences are. Nothing out of the ordinary really. If i pre tip him and he doesn't do a good job.

What do I do? I wouldn't tip him at the end of the week if he didn't do a good job. Its like throwing your money away. Do you then take off the auto tips because of his job and punish all the staff. I would never do that. Complain to guests services that your steward is not doing his job, maybe if it was bad enough. Pre tipping does not ensure good service. Being respectable to the staff, courteous, not speaking down to them, understanding that your not the only person they have to deal with, and they may have a bad day once in a while. Thats what gets you great service. Not waving money in there face saying this is what i want heres a 20 now do your job.

We tip the bartenders for a round of drinks in cash and at the end will also leave something for our favorite bartenders. Anytime dinning we leave a small tip every night divided up by the day on what we would normally leave if we had the same wait staff every night tipping them at the end of the cruise.

A tip is earned, in order to earn that tip, I expect them to do a good job.

Thankyou, couldn't have said it better myself. We have already paid the auto tip and then leave something for them extra in an envelope, at the end of the trip, depending on the service.
