  1. Good to know that you have had a positive experience. there is hope!
  2. This does not bode well for our upcoming Oasis sailing in May. I am not a foodie by any means but my son is getting married on that sailing and several of our friends and family ( that are incurring the expense in terms of time and money) have never cruised before and are only going because of the wedding. I don’t want them to be disappointed or to be turned off to cruising by subpar food or service. I know that the industry is trying to make up for lost revenue due to the pandemic but this is not the way to attract new customers. There will always be a core group that is loyal to Royal but even there they may start to lose customers. I’ve been on 20+ cruises and I’m starting to re think it myself
  3. It seems that most of the posts about the quality of the food since the new menus seem to indicate that the quality has gone down, but of course that is subjective. Considering that I’m committed to an upcoming cruise and cancelling isn’t an option, I’m hoping that the food isn’t as bad as it seems. Anyone enjoying the new menu on the Oasis?
  4. That’s an amazing track record. Have you had success going from sky class suite to star class suite? If so, had the star suite category shown availablity at the time of your bid or had they been sold out?
  5. Good to know. Hopefully it was just an off day when that couple had the bad experience
  6. Thank you. Getting married on a cruise ship seems like a good idea, until you get into the logistics. But I’d probably be stressed anyway even if it was on land. It’s the nature of the event
  7. Yes I plan to speak to the maitre d’ as soon as I board. I also booked a suite for us as well as the bride and groom in hopes that the concierge can help smooth things out
  8. I have tried to no avail. The group is meeting in the MDR most nights but I wanted to do something special for the rehearsal dinner
  9. I went through the events planning people. It was very difficult to book anything at all. Originally I wanted to do it at 150 Central Park but was told they couldn’t accommodate us
  10. It was a video recorded by the couple as they waited in the restaurant. They posted it on YouTube which is where I saw it.
  11. My son is getting married on the Oasis of the Seas. After a lot of back and forth the hubby and I booked Chops for the rehearsal dinner for 27 guests. They told us that they would have to seat us in two groups (8:30 and 9pm) because of the size of the party. Since they offered no other option, we agreed. However today I saw a video posted be a couple 2 months ago that had a 7:30 reservation but they didn’t get their entrees until 9:30!! They described a very chaotic scene, certainly not what I want to the rehearsal dinner, especially with the seating being staggered. Anyone with any recent experience dining at Chops on the Oasis?
  12. I understand. My issue with all of this is that I’m getting more info and ideas from people on cruise critic than from the “event planners” from RCCl. I’m asking them to help me spend several thousands of dollars on their ship. I’d thought they would be more helpful in explaining the process and exploring options with me.
  13. I completely agree. They have been awful. The bride and groom have emailed their assigned “wedding planner” multiple times with questions and never get a response. My experience with the Oasis Events planner has been difficult. I really regret raising the idea of a cruise wedding to my son and his fiancé. I’ve been on 17 cruises and love being on the water, but it seems that land based customer service is lacking and getting worse
  14. I’m sure that during the length of the cruise we will be meeting at the various bars/ music hall/ clubs. But as the parents of the groom I wanted to try to host the traditional “ rehearsal dinner” the night before the ceremony. I love your idea of a private excursion but there is only one port day before the ceremony (Orlando) and the bride and groom have bachelor/ bachelorette plans in Port that day.
  15. Thank you for sharing your experience. From the responses to posted to my initial question, I’m thinking that a cocktail party for 30 in a suite is probably not easily manageable.
  16. Thank you for your reply. They are working with the ship’s wedding planner but when they asked about me hosting a rehearsal dinner, they were told that I would have to arrange that separately as they only plan the wedding reception, not the rehearsal dinner
  17. The bride and groom have a wedding planner through RCCL that booked the room and offered them a package for the ceremony and the wedding reception. However the planner does not get involved with a rehearsal dinner or cocktail hour. They told my son I’d have to go through Oasis Events planner who is who told me that I’d have to rent out a restaurant or have two separate seatings.
  18. Well I could buy out a specialty restaurant for dinner for 11k which I think is crazy for 30 people. There was no mention of a cocktail hour alternative
