  1.

For the initial poster: Were they flexible to schedule the interview?

As you, I do not live close to an airport where the interview can take place, so I would like to schedule one while in transit

Not the OP, but I got my GE about a year and a half ago. I'm based in SLC, where believe it or not they don't do interviews....

Some of the locations seem to be better about scheduling appointments than others. The appointment scheduling is all done online. I could not get anyone to return any phone calls that I made about appointments.

Initially I scheduled an appointment for my husband during a time when we were both going to be in Vancouver. Unfortunately, they only had one appointment that was available during a time that would work for us, so I scheduled an appointment for myself in Las Vegas since I was going to be going down there for a few days a couple of weeks later.

When we got to Vancouver, I went along with DH to his appointment. We explained to them that I had an appointment scheduled in Las Vegas, but that it would be really convenient to do it at the same time as DH if they were able to accomodate me. They were really extremely nice about it and had another agent interview me at the same time as DH's interview. Of course, YMMV.

  2. Global Entry isn't being used at any cruise port at this point.... We have found it very helpful though at the airport when flying back from cruises that have ended outside the U.S. We've used it at the airports in Vancouver, Atlanta, Miami and Houston.

If you haven't done it already, be sure to enter your known traveler number in your flight profile so that you qualify for TSA Pre as well. They do have TSA Pre at the airport in San Juan, which was great when I flew home from there in July.

  3. I'm not sure if they are paperless on all the ships yet... I'm happy to know they still had the books available on Brilliance as of a couple of weeks ago. We'll be on the August 19 sailing and I'm very much hoping they still have the books at that time.

We're recently back from Jewel, where they are using the paperless coupons... they worked fine, with the exception of our D+ BOGO coupon for the specialty restaurant.

There were 4 of us who went to Chops the first night... 3 of us are D+ so had BOGO coupons available. It was a celebration and one of the members of our group wanted to pay for dinner. Unfortunately, there was no way to use two of the coupons and have one person pick up the tab. They had to charge the Sea Pass card that had the coupon on it.

The manager actually put in a call to someone to try to find a workaround for the problem, but was told there wasn't one... We ended up splitting the tab and then adjusting it between us.

It was so much easier when they had the paper coupons... as long as you had a coupon for each member of the group they were happy to charge just one Sea Pass card.

  4. thanks....

ok next question, how does the loyalty program on Princess Lines compare???

I've asked the diff between the two cruise lines (on the timeshares BB) before and it seems they are vary comparable as far as cruise ships, food etc....

No idea of the loyalty diffs tho...

    thanks

All of the other lines (Princess included) work the same... each person gets credit for the nights they sail...

  5. Sounds like you missed this part of his post...

I'll also note that I learned something new. If you are injured during a Royal Caribbean arranged shore excursion, you can receive complimentary services in the ship's Medical Center. I had no idea this was one of the benefits to booking a shore excursion with the ship, but I'll definitely keep it in mind for the future. (The nurse from the Celebrity ship told me about this, otherwise I wouldn't have known.)

  6. Well if I knew I wouldnt ask whan does "42,73 right now" mean as far as the price of a share of RCL stock...

Was it supposed to read $42.73 per share....

    Thanks for any input.....

I'm sure he/she meant $42.73..... I've been watching the stock, and that's real close if not right on....

  7. My favorite picture wasn't from the cruise itself (although I have hundreds that I love), but from the land tour. This is a view of Mt. McKinley from Denali National Park.

Beautiful picture... You were so lucky to see her this way! We've lived in the Interior almost 9 years and have only seen her like this a few times.... there is usually alot of clouds. McKinley is so big, she creates her own weather.

  8. where are the walmarts in Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan? That probably IS a good place to buy the best priced candy bars or maybe even a forgotten raincoat or umbrella!

    Susan

I think your options are Walmart in Ketchikan or Fred Meyers in Juneau. I don't believe there are any Walmarts in Sitka or Juneau. We just got one in Fairbanks about a year ago.... it was a big Fairbanks event! ;)

  9. I won't be spending much time shopping, but I do like to buy a Christmas ornament everywhere we go. Does anyone know if there are any shops in the ports where I can find blown glass ornaments? Thanks :)

Ok.... it's not a port, but if you are doing a land tour, the best place to get ornaments is at The Santa Clause House in North Pole. I'm not sure if they have blown glass, but they have a pretty good selection all year round.

They also have personalized letters from Santa that you can have sent out. We send them out to the kids at Christmas time, they've really gotten a kick out of them.
