We were suppose to leave this Sunday on our 21 day NY to Seattle Panama Canal cruise.  We had over 250 signed up for the meet and greet.  We had all sorts of activities planned...slot pull...cabin crawl..pub and poker run...LRC dice games...several luncheons....etc.  People worked hard planning many private excursions.

I was so looking forward to this trip.  When it was cancelled I was upset for a while but then remembered I also had a September Carnival Bermuda cruise.  Now that it has also been cancelled I still have a January Getaway cruise to the ABC islands.  Will that also be cancelled?

Carnival already cancelled a cruise for September???

Entertaining perhaps. Informative not. These boards should be used to share information not for amusement (and don’t tell me posters postulating on any conceivable bid winning logarithm in the book is information). Trash it.

I have to disagree--I have found this board to be very informative.  At times it's also been entertaining.  Maybe your definition of entertaining is different than mine, but when I am entertained I am happy, not annoyed.  So finding it also entertaining in addition to informative is a win-win for me.  I personally feel on of the threads, if I don't have something positive to say or add, I just skip it.  If I feel someone is asking a dumb question like if a given cabin is nice I just skip it.  There's no need to be rude or negative.  And no, I do not feel you have been rude, but you have been less than positive with this post.  And yes, you are allowed your opinion and you are allowed to post almost anything you want.........just sayin'.

The status doesn't change, except on that unknown day (up to 48 hours before embarkation) when the magical robot (or human) accepted your bidding offer.  It will then; and, only then - change to "processing" until it is finished & done.  Then the status will change to "upgraded" with the new stateroom assignment at the same time, or within the new 6 to 12/24 hours, giving you time to re-print your eDocs & eLuggage tags ... unless you are traveling & on the road, and don't have access to a b&w printer, etc.

Otherwise, each time you log in to see your bidded amount, it should be there & say "pending".  I don't have our recent one but the format is the same, from 2017, we didn't get a mini but got accepted for a balcony, midship on Deck 9.

P.S.  Good luck ... it seemed, lately, winning bids for Haven, suites & minis are getting "processed" earlier - compared to earlier days in 2019, 2018 & 2017 - nothing statistically-based, just a matter of impression.

Thank you for providing those pictures--with that I was able to figure out what you guys were talking about with relation to "pending" etc.

Our favorite cruise line is Celebrity, but the only ship they had at this time when we booked was their new ship the Edge and they wanted $1,000.00 more PER PERSON than this NCL cruise, so we decided to try a new line. From what I am reading the entertainment looks better, the food will be comparable and the service might not be as good. So if we go in with those expectations hopefully we will only be pleasently surprised. Either way I know we will have a great vacation, because it is what you make of it. I'm excited to try a new line!

Great attitude, but I suspect the food will not be comparable--so be prepared to be slightly disappointed in that area.

I now tried to look at some of the specialty dining venues. I never made it to all of them and some I walked by the outside but never got pictures.

This is Cellars I believe, which is a wine bar if memory serves me right.

A lot of places had signs like this each day.  With so many special people onboard they had a lot of private functions.

This is NCL’s new restaurant, Onda.  I hear it’s great, but it wasn’t meant to be for us.

Back to the room!  Follow the fishes!  One thing I did not like was the narrow halls. The doorways indented in and if someone was walking towards you, one would have to duck into a doorway to let the other pass.  Luckily, we didn’t have to put bags in the hall this trip, but I can’t imagine how people can easily get down the hall if bags are all sitting along the walls.

Our event was going to start soon.  We chilled in the room a bit and got dressed into a little bit dressier clothes.  Cass said she did read on one of our handouts that they did not want people to wear shorts to this.

We enjoyed our balcony a bit.  My pictures came out super overexposed and I tried to fix them as best I could.

Over exposed?  Super overexposed?  No way!!!  These are some of the best pictures ever!!!

On a separate note--You should seriously consider becoming or trying your hand at being a cruise ship blogger!  You are amazing.  Once you have enough viewership/readers, you'll get paid to place ads and maybe cruise ships would give you free cruises to rate and write about them!!

  6. Having already booked our dining last week for 3 specialty restaurants I can tell you it was very difficult finding a restaurant and time we liked.  As a matter of fact, we were only able to get 1 restaurant at a time we liked; the other 2 we have reservations at 8:30.  So checking the restuarants and times for the # of people in your group may answer your question.

  7. I have boarded NCL in NYC numerous times.  I generally go early and the check in line is "quick".  Because I get there early I generally have to wait to board for no other reason than they are not boarding yet.  How long I have to wait depends on how quick they start the embarkation process and where i fall in line.  They hand out these "tickets" that tell you when you will board.  If you're number 1, then you're in the first group of people to board.  If you're number 120, then you'll have to wait for that group to be called.  The only time i have had to wait a particularly long period of time was when they started the embarkation process late due to something related to immigration.  Immigration did not give them the "go ahead" for everyone to disembark so it held up everything.  Typically I'll arrive around 11 and be on board by noon.

I am sailing on the 17 Jan Panama Canal Cruise on the Joy.  I have been tracking the Haven H4 (2BD) and Haven H5 (courtyard) rooms since I put in upgrade offers from my MS balcony.  The price for both had been holding steady at $5699 PP for the H4 and $4299 PP for the H5, with the inventory 13 for the H4 and 14 for the H5.  I put in just above the min bid ($1500) for the H5 and a low fair bid for the H4 (the room I actually wanted).  On 28 Dec (3 weeks out from the cruise), there was a price drop of $300 PP for each.  Then, yesterday on 30 Dec, they lowered both AGAIN by $500 PP.  So that was an $800 PP price drop in 3 days which put this only about $400 PP above the min fair bid.  So at this point I made a decision to jump on this since it was only about $300 PP above my offer and I got to pick my room and get the extra Haven Perks.

Also of interest, when I had a MS Bal the min bid for the H5 was $1500.  Now that I have an H4, the min bid for the H5 dropped to $500.  I am happy with my room and won't be bidding on the H5.

Best of luck to all of you still bidding on the 17 Jan Joy Cruise!

Does this mean, that if you had "won" your bid you would not have gotten the Haven perks?

  9. My daughter boarded this morning. At check in she was told any OBC would be in her room. Not there!!  She stood online at customer service and was told they don’t have her file and won’t have it until tonight bit it would get straightened out. In the meantime i called casino royale since she got the cruise through them and they said customer service would have the info for her!  🤯🤬

I just knew this would happen and i will be dealing with the same thing on Monday as i am on majesty on Monday.

    Back to the original question....

Poster tommui987 just reminded me of a place in the Playa neighborhood, a club that has a private beach. 20CUC pp/day

    Club Havana

    5ta Avenida e/188-192

    Reparto Flores, Playa, Havana

    tel. 537 204 5700

Is anyone allowed to go here?

We took a cab '41 Chevy convertible

is that considered a tour?  or are you allowed to go to the tropicana as long as you take a tour during the day?

  12. Based on this thread am I to understand that I must choose a dining time option?  It has been a long time since I've sailed RCCL and I kind of assumed I'd be able to eat anytime I want.  Is that not the case?

Also, how much does the Chef's table cost?

Lastly, for this ship, is there any type of option for a "private" pool?  I know that's a pretty stupid question, but thought I'd ask anyway.

You can take the Trenitalia bus from the port to the station, the local bus, or you can walk (1.5 km/1 mile).

If you read the original post you'll see that this train only makes two stops, at S. Pietro and Ostiense.  The Colosseum isn't at a train station, to reach it you would get off at Ostiense and take the metro two stops to Colosseo.

I did read that but i was not sure which of those two stops might be related to or near to the Colosseum.  Thank you for your help!!
