    Huh?

    So, cruises 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 were good enough to "book 6?"

And 6 went terribly awry compared to the previous 5, enough so for that statement?

    Hard to figure.

These kind of posters are so easy to trip up on their own weak attempts at “ding dong dash”.  After the first trip, I’m surprised they came back only to fall flat on their face.

It does make for humorous reading within a lament thread about a company maximizing its profits in a time when every penny counts.

One should never forget that while every customer is important, those that can afford premium prices are more important.

  2. My top choice would be 2301 or 2298, but those are 4 person cabins.  For 2 people I would recommend 2305 or 2302. The last 3 coves, 2306, 2309, 2308, 2315, 2310, 2317 may have noise from what appears to be some sort of vent.

Thanks to all who responded.  After talking to my hubby, I have decided to splurge!  We currently have a cove balcony booked on the Mardi Gras in October.  I am going to call and transfer the money I paid for our April cruise to our October cruise and upgrade to a suite!  I will still have some money left over and OBC from the cancellation.  It's a win win for me.  Now..... if we can cruise!!

You certainly discovered how to turn what was thought to be a negative into a positive.

Hold on to your new outlook!! 😀

Please, please, please provide a link to this court case.  I have a brand new microwave, and I can't for the life of me find the sticker about not microwaving your dog.  And, as noted above, the actual facts of the McDonalds coffee suit are far different than the urban legends that are spread about it.

    Poodle cooking? Urban myth.

I have  just received  this reply from MSC "I can confirm we will require a Doctor's note confirming you're exempt from wearing a mask as this will need to be escalated accordingly."

I still don't know what status I will be escalated to. It would be helpful for cruise lines to set out their exemption policies as this will be a deal breaker for some though not for myself.

Good to know that if they decline your medical exemption for wearing a mask during a pandemic, it won’t be a deal breaker for you to still cruise knowing you may be required to wear one.

I doubt that my unilateral action will doom any company to failure!   But I am sure that my wife and I would look at other cruising options more seriously if we did not have the Carnival shareholder benefit.  Particularly for longer cruises, such as Transatlantics.

Actually, since I know Carnival staff read this forum, YES, I will doom you to failure if you cancel the shareholder benefit!  Ha.

Interesting that $100 (or $250 for a longer sailing) would be enough motivation for you to walk away (or stay put).

I’m sure the Carnival staff reading the opines of people with the liquidity to hold 100 shares of stock threatening  to take their business elsewhere if the benefit is discontinued have finely tuned reading comprehension skills.

All true.   But the loyal customers who come aboard will maybe spend more money than they usually do.   In fact, my wife and I just booked a suite on an Alaska Carnival cruise for next August, and we almost never go higher than a balcony.  Why the suite?   Well, we could use our FCC and our gift cards AND afford to pitch in some extra $$$.

In any event, there are not many good options for the cruise lines going forward.  But if  they fail to keep their loyal customers (. . .  and I would be unhappy if Carnival ditched its shareholder benefit), they will certainly be doomed.

Would it make you unhappy enough to be one of those loyal customers who bails, dooming the company to failure?

I wrote JH, and was asked for copies of what I was seeing.  I went back to the different sites to get screen shots, and now all the deck plans match on the site.  They all show that we will have the differently shaped balcony like on the booking engine.  I'm happy.

    not all of them:

I like to sit next to the loud telephone/video conversation people and point out interesting features and start randomly laughing loudly 😁

I do the same to people who think it’s acceptable to have loud cellphone conversations in public.

Sometimes they’ll interrupt their conversation to give me the stinkeye.  I am simply equally as vocal in expressing how fascinating their conversation is and how appreciative I am to get to listen to it.

Same goes for those who meander the aisles at stores conversing at top volume into their cellphones while they pick through the shelves. I follow them with an intent listening ear since they seem to be fine yammering about in public while thinking everyone else should avoid them.

People who do this will continue to do so if others are simply too afraid to calmly and reasonably address the poor behavior.

We were going to book 3 cruises for OCT 2021, but we discovered that even the "refundable" rates are not totally refundable. All have cancelation fees in addition to the higher price. With that in mind we will just wait until this summer to book.I would have thought that an industry that is screaming for any revenue they could get these days would have at least stayed with old policies to help that revenue stream. I would think that now is a very bad time to introduce non refundable rates.

    Doug

Please elaborate on the "new" cancellation fee policies that are different than the "old" cancellation policies for refundable fares.

It would seem that many are surprised by this purported change in policy.

So does one have to forfeit all the OBC which was given on the cancelled Cruise by Carnival as well as the travel agent?

And only get $600 Plus the Carnival OBC and travel agents OBC for the new Cruise?

You don’t get credit/refund of promo OBC obtained with original booking (whether from Carnival or TA) only to get another round when when (if) you rebook if offered at time of rebooking.

The logic of why should be abundantly clear.

If rules are enforced, people will follow them.  The problem is that when rules aren't enforced, it emboldens the people who break the rules and lets them know there are no consequences for their actions.  Any time it's a free for all, rules won't work.  They need strict enforcement and it will work.  No tolerance is the way to go with very clear expectations up front.

Kind of like raising children, eh? 😀

  13. I’ve yet to stay at a hotel that after checking in, locks all exterior doors, removes itself from its foundation, relocates several times before resetting itself several days later, unlocking the doors and offloading its occupants who have just spent their confined time coughing and sneezing all over each other with no chance to escape.

Wrong . they cant provide the service, again happy to take the fcc and use it.  i can afford to lose the initial investment, but that is immaterial. Many can't.   NCL can not provide the service as promised. its pretty simple, if they had cruises going and i wanted my money back you would have a valid point.

Your argument holds water when the FCC expires and NCL has been unable to sail for the duration of the FCC validity period.... not a minute before.  You are speculating NCL will not sail (which may very well be true). You accepted the terms associated with the cancelation offer and now must wait it out until you can use your FCC or are prevented from doing so by its expiration date.

I think I'll reply to you....You obviously make more money than I do...I cannot afford to fly to Europe and then cruise plus the arrangements I need to make. If I could then I agree with you but since i can;t I reject your premise

    Andy

So your financial limitations to sail from ports that can accommodate a more varied itinerary equate to MSC not caring for you as a customer resulting in a foot-stomping tirade to hopefully get someone’s attention to completely restructure the company’s sailings to your specific narrow requirements?

Maybe you should hold your breath until you get your way.  By the time someone puts any effort into dealing with your type of customer, the problem will have solved itself.
