  1. We don't have a planned excursion for our day in Belize. I came across this website that has a walking tour. http://www.belize-vacation.com/belize/belize_city.htm

Has anyone done anything like this, or something similar? Anything that is for sure a must-see, or a don't-waste-your-time?

    Thanks!

Those look like they are quite a distance from each other. Is this a guided tour? Where they will drive you sight to sight? Or does the map just make it look like they are far from each other.

I'm not sure I would feel comfortable out on my own just walking around. Just me I guess.

Good Luck on whatever it is you decide to do...where still trying to decide ourselves.

  2. :D

Thanks for the link. I think we'll take a jitney to Fort Fincastle, and walk back as well. I like walking down a hill better than up it. LOL. When are you going?

We both agree on that LOL...walking down hill is the way to go....:p

We are going this October.. I'm quite excited...can't wait...

Have a great trip when you go....should be a wonderful time....I haven't been to the Bahama's since 93..so can't wait to see what has changed...

  3. I wish I could answer your questions, but I don't know.

Bill informed me about the jitney #10 to get to Fort Charlotte. He did mention that it goes right pass the free beach, so that might help on getting there. It's a $1.00 each way.

We are thinking about getting either a carriage or taxi to take us to Fort Fincastle, then walking from there, since the OP said it was all down hill from there. (trying to start at the furtherst point away and work our way back toward the ship), then on to the jitney for Fort Charlotte. If time permits we would like to do some of these other things offered.

I hope I don't get in trouble here, but here is a sight I found while surfing the internet that is very informative on things to do there...there is so much, but I know I can not get it all in at once. I am all about the history of the Island, and old day things...of the past..:)

Try looking here, it might give you something that helps..

  4. Hi Ken,

We are cruising in April and I have a question. Do you happen to know if the Holiday Inn Express in Wesley Chapel on SR 54W is in a nice area? I know it is off I-75 exit 279 close to where we have to get on 275 to head to the port. Any nice restaurants around there, do you happen to know? Thanks ahead of time for any help you can provide.

  5. Thanks Ken, I appreciate you getting back to me. I looked at the pictures. Very nice. Got a glimpse from your pictures of what I have to look forward to. Being

we are sailing the Ms Veendam.

    Thanks again,

    Lulu

By the way, hows the weather? :) We will be heading that way Friday.

  6. Hi Ken,

I will address this to you, as you seem very knowledgeable about your home town. I have read this whole thread from beginning to end. One mention of parking at the ports is all I saw. I saw the price of $10.00 a day, and terminal 2 was a covered garage with security, and terminal 6 was uncovered with a tall fence, and possible security. Now I have a couple of questions, and you might not be able to answer them, but I hope that you can.

1.) Can you park in either terminal? <meaning covered verses non covered> Or do you have to park in a certain one depending on who you are cruising with?

2.) How far apart are these two parking terminals? (traveling on HAL and that is out of terminal 6), but I would rather have my truck in a covered garage with security.

3.) If you leave your car at these hotels that people have asked about, who makes sure that no one steals or vandalizes them while you are gone on your cruise. Do they have security as well?

Hopefully you might know the answer to my questions. I am thinking I could drop my luggage off with the baggage guys. And then go park and walk back. I really am not sure how far parking is from the pier where we have to check in.

Lastly, is there anyone who has parked in these parking garages that had a car carry on their vehicle? Was it tampered with? Did you have any problems at all? I worry about coming back and my car carrier will be missing in action  Or my vehicle for that matter. Don't get me wrong, I know things could happen any where. Just wondering how safe these places are. Parking garage verses a hotel parking lot. Any help or answers to my questions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Lulu
