Wrong!!!! I am a retired casino marketing professional and have lived in Las Vegas and been in this industry for 30+ years,  any attempt at a non-smoking casino has failed, miserably.  That article is propaganda being promoted by a non-smoking group , and has literally no value.  Most casinos have a non smoking section or area…. And they are usually less than 50% occupied.  However, that’s not the real reason.  The “spend” and “hours spent” by smokers is huge and …. In other words , even if there are less smokers (which I’ve never seen on any report) they spend about 60-70% of the gaming take.  Until that changes…. Las Vegas will never go non smoking

The smoke free casinos in Delaware and in South Florida prove otherwise. Places are packed 24/7 and have been for well over a decade. I listened to this argument before New York banned smoking in bars and clubs. It was “Chicken Little Syndrome” everywhere. Everyone was going to go out of business and the world would come to an end. On the contrary, business doubled and smokers went outside to have satisfy their nicotine addiction.

Maryland has 5 casinos and all are non-smoking and revenues are higher than ever.

Delaware is the same...all non-smoking and always packed. Likewise for all of the non-tribal casinos in South Florida...smoke free and always busy.

I don't know how much it costs, but I only purchase liquor onboard if I drive to the port and can carry it off.  I just don't want to deal with airport hassles.  If flying, it has to be checked baggage, with the associated breakage risk.  In addition, a bottle of liquor in checked baggage pretty much guarantees that the bag will be opened and inspected by the TSA.  They will cut your lock if necessary.

A case also exceeds the duty free limit, unless you have 11 friends travelling with you.  Customs might be interested.  Doesn't sound like it's worth it to me.

    Good point on the duty.

  5. Hennessy Pure White is only sold in France and the Caribbean. That's the primary allure to many people. The market price fluctuates, but it was selling for $59.99 onboard the Mardi Gras earlier this month. Occasionally Carnival will offer discounted pricing for purchasing in volume (3-6 bottles). Carnival used to have a policy (they probably still do) that they would price match if you could provide evidence of it being sold cheaper in any of the ports. It was as simple as taking a photo in a shop and showing it to the Fun Shops staff. For this reason, many of the local liquor stores and duty free shops no longer visibly post the price.

  6. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Carnival had no idea which of it's ships, if any would be back in service during 2021. From a financial perspective it doesn't make sense to have massive amounts of ship specific pins produced that could very well never be used. Instead they opted for a general 2021 commemorative pin to celebrate the return of cruising. When the 2022 cruising season starts back up I suspect that the ship specific pins will return.

It seems like carnival is waiting for the july 18th date to pass, where as the cdc will no longer be in charge of making decisions for the cruise lines in florida , i could be wrong, but i don't think  it's a coincidence that there holding off there announcements for sept and oct cruises until next week, if i was a guessing man, i'm gonna predict that they lower the 95 percent vaccinated policy to 80 percent, so more people with children can be exempted, especially since they announced that all unvaccinated people over the age of 12 will have to have travel insurance, i think families will book with more confidence, knowing there's a higher percentage that there child or children will be exempted

Well that post didn’t age well.

I'm no expert.  But seems like a stretch to get out there, hit 3 distant ports, then back within the constraints of a 7 day cruise.  I'd think the westerns from FL normally have a stop in G.C., Jamaica, or both for logistical/timing/resupply reasons.  But I am just making it up as I go, and drawing conclusions from the itinerary changes that have been made.

Carnival runs 7 day western itineraries out of Port Canveral that hit Cozumel, Costa Maya, Belize and Isla Roatan on a consistently regular basis. Oddly enough, the cruises out of PC never include stops in Jamaica or Grand Cayman.

  9. I’ve eaten at JiJi’s solo on numerous occasions on the Sunshine. Never had a problem getting more than one appetizer or entree. In fact usually the servers ask if I would like more. Also I have to concur on the Kung Pao Chicken…to die for!! 🤤

    Hi,

For anyone wondering,  a general heads up on Diamond info.  I was hold for 15 minutes this morning after I wanted validation  about making Diamond. I asked just to be sure nothing changed after this long “pause”.

So, to save anyone the hold time themselves …

Yes, Yes & Yes  you will be Diamond the entire cruise. Even IF your official qualifying day is the very last day of your cruise. Of course, this applies to whatever is your next level. Diamond was my specific inquiry.

Final Yes  ….. it is true this has been answered here many times. 😁😁

    🛳🛳

     Bobbi

Congratulations on making Diamond status on your upcoming cruise. I finally achieve it as well on my upcoming cruise in August. 🥳🥳🥳

  11. Speaking of bacon hoarders…

A couple years ago a guy and his wife sit down at the table next to me. He gets up and heads to the buffet and returns with a platter of bacon. I’m not talking about a few slices. I’m talking a mound of bacon. He takes 2 of those blue cloth napkins, lays them out flat on top of each other and wraps the bacon in the napkins. Then he hands it too his wife who put it in her purse. ?!? 😧

Your cruises were cancelled and they aren't offering the OBCs to rebook?

I think the idea is that the cruises were booked hoping that they would end up being canceled and $1200 in OBC would be earned. Instead, the cruises are going forward as planned.
