  1. Glad everything turned out all right for all the people.

I am in charge of taking pictures. But both my DH and I carry our own ID cards, money and a charge card as well as the ship's port agent information. Since we get only one copy in the cabin, I write down the information for one of us while the other one carries the original copy. Extra copies are not always available at the gangway.

I snapped a picture with my cell phone (we both use ours as camera's on our cruise) of the port agent's information before leaving the cabin so I would have it with me if needed. It also made a nice placeholder in our pictures of what pictures were taken where.

  2. I was on the Nov 21 sailing on the Spirit. For some reason, I always found wait times to be better in Windows than the other MDR. Can't think of the name for now. I wanted to sit in the other MDR one night just to check it out, but it always had a wait when there was no wait in Windows. Since the menus are the same, I ended up just sticking with Windows for 4 of my 7 nights. (2 nights I had dinner at Shogun and 1 at Le Bistro.) I think I also did 2 lunches and 2 breakfasts in Windows and always found service to be prompt, but then I wasn't really in a hurry ever.

Same with us, the wait time for Gardens MDR was over 45 minutes, while we were seated right away in Windows.

  3. Did they have any holiday decorations on the Spirit last week?

I'll be boarding this Saturday, the 5th, and hope to get the Christmas season off to a nice start with this cruise. We're looking forward to it.

Yes, they had already started putting up the trees, so it will certainly be decorated when you board.

  4. You won't tender in St. Thomas

Well, since we just tendered in St. Thomas aboard the Spirit, you really can't say that you won't. It all depends on how many ships are in port on that day. The day we were there, which was Wednesday, November 25th, we were one of 6 six ships, so we were tendered.

  5. The captain turned the ship around when we docked in Nassau last week and the port side of the ship ended up facing the dock, but that was because we were in the last slip. In St. Thomas we tendered and in Tortola the starboard side was next to pier.

  6. I thought that was odd when photogcrazy mentioned tendering in STT as there is plenty of room at Havensight and Crown Bay for more than 4 ships. I'm guessing he was referring to Tortola? :)

No, Photocrazy was correct, we did tender in St. Thomas.

  7. Will there be a coffee maker in our balcony on the Spirit?? If so,is it the kind that takes 4 cup pods???

There was, but I didn't use it. I just got dressed and went upstairs to the buffet to get coffee. I do remember seeing it was a 4 cup machine. Hope this helps you.

  8. Debbie-

Was the balcony room bathroom that small? :)

Well I'm a bigger woman, and I have bruises on my legs that I have no idea how I got them! The one thing I really disliked was the toilet area of the bathroom. The shower area was fine, but not the toilet area. This picture doesn't do justice to how small the area is, but it's the best I could do.

  9. They said they had computer issues which slowed down embarkation, we barely set our stuff in the room and they called the muster drill. What time did you dine? We did see on numerous occasions people arrive after us at dinner and leave before us. The best show was the Elements show on the last day. You may have seen us around, the first day my son was showing everybody his toy helicopter...lol

We didn't see Elements. We thought about it, but as I suffer from Fibromyalgia and on Friday I began the beginning of this cold, I was worn out. That evening we went to Cagney's and then sat at Champaign Charlies for a little bit before heading back to the room. The two times we dined at in th MDR, we arrived about 6 PM. Sadly, I don't think I saw your son and his helicopter the first day.

  10. We just got off yesterday (11/28/15). Our room was nice (balcony on deck 9) and kept clean. The food was average cruise cuisine nothing great and not horrible. Cagney's was excellent. The big complaint was every supper took over 2 hours some as long as 2 1/2. Early dining started at 5:30 and the early show started at 7:30. we were late to the show every night in spite of being one of the first groups to sit down at 5:30. The next issue was tendering in St. Thomas, if you booked a private excursion (other than through NCL) you most likely missed it. The last complaint would be only 1 towel animal in 7 days, my son loves the towel animals and this left him disappointed. Entertainment was cruise average as well. We still had a great time and will cruise NCL again.

We cruised together, but our steward left us 6 towel animals. We were in 9686, a balcony cabin the aft area. We only did one show and we only ate in the MDR twice, but neither time were we in there for over an hour and half. We must have gotten lucky with our waiter both times. We did eat in LeBistro and hubby did select the upcharged lobster for his entree. He was very disappointed in it as he said it was very chewy, as it was over done. We did have Cagney's also one night, which we both enjoyed.

I know the shuttle bus dropped us off at the port almost 1:00 PM on embarkment day, but we didn't step foot onto the ship until after 3 PM and had to report to the safety drill immediately. We didn't get anything to eat until dinner.

This was the first cruise for my husband and I and we loved it! Yes, there might have been minor annoyances, but they in no way altered our vacation. We loved it, even though I came home with a head/chest cold that acts like it's going to go into bronchitis.

  11. Our week was really good. The waves were rough on Thursday and Friday, but I'm happy to report that neither my husband or I had any problems with seasickness. Our cabin was a balcony cabin in 9 aft and for the most part it was really good. It is right over the Theater, but after 1030 you pretty much didn't hear much. We only went to one show, so can't give you any tips about that.

The food was okay. We did eat once at Le Bistro and once at Cagney's. I doubt I'd do either again, but that me. For the most part the crew was wonderful. There were a couple of hiccups with service, but no biggie. The biggest aggregation was check-in. We got off the shuttle at 1 PM but didn't step foot on the ship until around 3:30 PM. We had to go directly to our drill station, which is on deck 7.

It has been a wonderful vacation and we will do it again.

  12. Hi, I'm trying to find out if there is a fridge in the balcony rooms of the Norwegian Spirit. Has anyone been on it since they updated the ship?

I'm currently still sitting on the Spirit waiting for our color to be called to leave. Yes, there is a fridge in balcony rooms.

  13. I'm taking notes. I have a feeling I'm going to end up with a bunch of wines half drunk in my fridge. LOL :p

Just use those half drunk bottles to make a sangria. Tons of recipes on the internet using Moscato.

I loved Cooper's Hawk Sweet Red, but discovered that my face turned bright red and I began to feel like my breath was being cut off. The other reds that I have tried cause the same reaction so all of those have been cut for me.

With White Wines, I noticed that for most of the dry ones, I get a horrible headache and a milder reaction as above, so I don't really drink that many of them. I too have noticed that some Rieslings are more bitter than others. There is one I tend to buy more often than others and that is Schmitt Söhne Riesling.

  14. Sorry, still find it so odd to take them off at all. Why ????? That's me .....

I suppose it is one of those 'You live and you learn' moments for them but I can't imagine that anything will ever compensate for a lost wedding ring. I wear my late Mum's - as she wore my grandmother's. Priceless items that were given at the time of a promise,

I hope that they can move on from this and won't be parted again from their new bands / rings. The best place for them is on your hand ..

I have to take off my wedding ring every time I exercise as my fingers swell up to the point of pain. I can't tell you the number of times I have left it on my treadmill and remembered hours later after the swelling went down. And there are times when I can't wear my ring for days on end because of a skin condition that breaks out now and again. So, I find nothing odd about taking your wedding ring off.

  15. Okay, I once again signed back up with WW, so last Saturday I signed up for the Online version. After giving it much thought, yesterday I switched to Personal Coaching & Online Plus. So today I had my first weigh in and later today I will have my first personal coaching session. I choose a coach who has lost over 100 pounds (like I need to loose) and also lives here in my hometown of Chicago. It also helped when I read her 38 glowing reviews!

So as I said, today was my first WI and I'm down 3.8 pounds. I love those first WI's as they are usually so high.

So, in 49 days I cruise. My question is, will the mobile app work if I'm not signed onto the Internet or am I going to need to buy some internet minutes so I can still log my food when we are having our sea days as I know I can sync when we are in port?

  16. So glad you posted this. Because I was thinking the same thing. I can guarantee that no one here would cancel a cruise because of a cold! Let's be real, you could catch a cold on the flight to the cruise. Or a week before and it not show up until cruise time. And if it is a cold, would you seriously put your child in a mask on a cruise? Nothing like making them the center of attention and people running away from them!

And I was sitting here wondering how many of these people criticizing the OP go to work when they have a cough and stuffy nose? How many of you stay home so you don't pass it onto your fellow co-workers? I bet none of them. Nor would any of them stay home for their scheduled cruise.

  17. Yep that's the hair dryer and it's not very good. If you have short hair it will probably be OK. With longer hair it just doesn't do the job and the handle of the dryer becomes too hot to hold and the bathroom gets uncomfortably hot.

I've always brought my own dryer and used it in the cabin area with no problems.

As for the layout of the bathroom some toilets are enclosed and others are not. I've been on the Spirit three times and on our last cruise the toilet was not enclosed.

Thanks! I guess I will be packing my own blow dryer in 2 months, because there is no way that thing would dry my hair, as I have very think hair and it takes forever to dry.

  18. You can call NCL and book airport to cruise terminal transportation. The price for POM to MIA was $16pp and POM to FLL was $25 for my Sky cruise in November. I highly recommend this option for direct to or from the airport. Air-conditioned motor coach that had guides in baggage claim and was literally right in front of terminal exit at return. The $50 total was worth it for me. It can be booked in just one direction.

We booked our November cruise and airfare before I found CC, so I didn't know how important it was to arrive the day before. We are flying down the morning of the cruise, with arrival scheduled to be at 9:30 am in Orlando. I priced changing our flights, but forking over another $400 isn't something neither my husband or I wanted to do. So, I called NCL the other day and booked their airport to cruise terminal transport. I was given a price of $35pp.

I am a little worried that I didn't receive an email for a paid receipt for this. Should I have? Or it is all okay that I see

  19. I have been diagnosed with having severe contact allergies to frangrances. This means that my bed clothes, towels, etc. have to be washed in fragrance-free detergent or I will get a pretty bad rash.

I was wondering if anyone out there has had this problem and how you handled it on a cruise ship. I was going to bring some laundry detergent and re-wash the sheets on my bed a few times during the cruise and ask the steward only to make the bed and not change the sheets. I will also bring my own pillow cases and hair towels (the skin on my face and scalp is the most sensitive to the allergies) and wash them as needed also. We are on the 7 day Pearl cruise to Alaska in May and they have laundry facilities on our floor.

Does that sound like it will work? Any other suggestions?

    Thanks!

I have a life threatening allergy to pistachio nuts and am also allergic to down. I told my TA about my pistachio allergy, but not my down as I forgot about it. I read something on here that I should have gotten an email from NCL about it, and since I didn't, I wrote to AccessDesk@ncl.com and informed them.

I would suggest you also send an email to AccessDesk@ncl.com and let them know you can't have any bedding that has been washed with any product that has fragrance in it. You should get an email back from them.

  20. I've used two different ones, both online. For the NCL one I used one associated with airline miles and the Princess one I used a well known online one. There is a brick and mortar one near me, but their hours don't suit me, hence going with online. So far both have been responsive to my questions and need for assistance.

  21. We have sailed a few times in these 2 cabins. They are excellent!

Make sure you mark the booking "no upgrade". :)

Thank you! I called our TA and made sure they marked it "no upgrade". If we lost this cabin my husband would be so disappointed. He's really looking forward to that balcony!
