  1. We will hit platinum after our next cruise, and thats after only 4 cruises with NCL. We have benefitted from booking longer cruises and booking far in advance plus a few extra points benefits.  but like others have said, there is actually no incentive to push for further rewards. loyalty schemes need incentive otherwise they are pointless.

We regularly fly business or upper class with Virgin airlines for no additional cost thanks to their reward scheme. and continue to benefit the more we fly.

  2. I am diving with scuba steve in St Lucia in a few days time. I’m also Diving st kitts, but not with divestkitts as they have a contract with ncl (who I’m crushing with) so could t book at their advertised price of $100, and ncl wants to charge me $200 for the same trip (!) so I am diving with pro divers who have been awesome so far. I was undecided between Diving st kitts or Barbados but st kitts won as there is far less excursions or stuff too do that interested me on this island compared to Barbados.

  3. Ah! Thanks for the info. Any word on St. Martin diving?

I’m not sure on st Martin, but our cruise itinerary included st Martin but it was changed due to the hurricane damage. I’m not even sure cruise ships are going back there yet?

When is your trip booked for?

  4. I don't like Premium All Inclusive at all.

We don't care about the bottled water. We cruised in November this year. Found 20 x 1 Litre bottles of water in the wardrobe on embarkation. Moved them to the floor of the wardrobe as we wanted the shelves for our stuff. 18 were left when we left. My sister used 2.

Included gratuities was nice but we budget to pay those anyway so nothing special there. I think they have done this to prevent UK customers removing service charge. Too many of them did this so NCL acted.

UBP. Well we tend to have one glass of wine usually with our dinner. We aren't drinkers, for me I rarely have more than 1 drink, sometimes 2. I would rather pay as I go.

I know Premium All Inclusive is a great deal for some but it isn't for us. I am just paying more for things I don't need, or want, and feel I am paying more to subsidise other peoples good time. I preferred paying for my cruise, paying my DSC and anything else I want as I go.

Just Cruise sounds great for me. Except I have 2 cruises in mind for 2018 and it isn't available on either. So I am going to not book and wait and see if this pans out onto more sailings in Europe or book via USA and take free at sea options such as dining package and one other as we always go balcony.

    Totally this!!!

And yes this is ncl’s way to combat those who remove dsc in line with eu/U.K. legislation on sales of services etc. What I hate though is they are making it an undesirable product for us now, because even the just Cruise is t on sailings we might want yet. We will be considering other cruise lines for our next trip and probably won’t be buying a cruise next voucher like we always do onboard.

  5. So going forwards, as a U.K. resident, if I don’t want to book premium all inclusive (we don’t drink alcohol so Never take the beverage package) do I have to book via usa travel agent? If we booked our March cruise now, it would be almost double the price thanks to beverage package and gratuities. We booked and took the free gratuities option for this cruise so I don’t see this option as appealing to us one bit!

  6. You are kidding right? You booked a room on their ship, so now ncl have to run all advertising and marketing plans by you first to make sure you agree? Get real OP. Perhaps next time, stay clear of short cruises during spring break rather than blaming others for your poor decision.

  7. Great tips guys!!

    Our must haves for a cruise are;

    1) highlighters for the freestyle dailies. We have a colour each!

    2) sticky notes block. We use these to leave notes for each other in our room. Especially useful when our boy was self checking into and out of the kids club

    3) instead of a power strip I bought an 'anker 6port mass USB charging device' which allows you to charge 6 USB devices using one socket. I use it everywhere now too

    4) pillow case for laundry

    5) lanyard for ship card/room key

    6) dry bag for beach - not only keeps the water out it keeps the sand out too!

    7) we also bring a gift for a room steward that we give to them on embarkation day with a money tip - a small token from where we are from. we always get the best service and occasionally a few perks too!

  8. Awesome. New Orleans looks like an awesome city to spend pre or post cruise so we are a little disappointed to see no regular itinerary departing from there. The May 8th 2016 Dawn departure to western Caribbean looks perfect, but coming from the UK the costs of flying into one airport and home from a different one are astronomical so rules out repo's :-(

  9. hi

we are looking into our next cruise and looking at march/april 2018. we would love to incorporate some land time in New Orleans or Sanfrancisco with a cruise taking in western caribbean or mexican riviera but can not see any cruises on nil website beyond this year.

does any know if they will stop sailing from these ports? or can point us in the direction of what itineraries are running in 2018?

    thanks

  10. The German 'life plus' contingency seemed to be everywhere on the cruise. It didn't bother us too much as nothing impacted on our choices, Until we got to GSC that is. we were unceremoniously asked to leave the 'private area' on the private island I had paid to be at because we had walked straight under the barrier and storm trooped through. When I asked why we weren't informed half the island was off limits, I was told 'when you book 800 people on a cruise you get to commandeer bars or beaches'. This ticked me off royally to be honest. As we would have gotten up and off the ship earlier to get our group a position on the 'steerage' section of the beach. On saying that we ended up loving the lagoon side of the island and all was forgotten quickly once I had my snorkel in the water.

  11. We booked our last cruise direct with ncl uk And booked over a year out. We were booking a studio, a family inside and a regular inside. We received a free upgrade from our PCC - regular inside to forward facing ocean view and family inside to a mid ship mini suite. No upgrade for the studio. This was all because we were booking a large group at once, we are latitudes members (we also got obc awarded because my wife made the booking) and because we were booking so early.
