The observation areas above the bridge wings have just been moved up to deck 15.
So, will these observation areas have chairs or loungers? Or just be areas for "observing"?

We’ve always booked 1718 but we wouldn’t hesitate to book 1720 if it was the only one available. We booked 1718 originally because it was the only one available for our date and now we just keep booking it because we liked it, so why change.
As for the other suites not being available, are you just looking on Royal’s website? I have seen all the other suites available (except maybe the Royal Loft) during summer 2020 on Oasis, but I use a travel agent site. On Royal’s website some of the Star class suites don’t show available because you have to call in when there is only 1 room left in a category and all those Star class rooms are considered their own category, which means there is only ever 1 available, so you need to call in or look on a travel agent site. I also know 1718 is available for some weeks during summer 2020 because I’ve been looking at booking it or one of the Panoramics.
Good luck!
Have tried one travel agent site. Nothing showing. Will try to call Royal next. Never used a travel agent. Always booked directly through the cruise line. This time we need to.

I stayed in this room on the Allure in February and will be staying in this room on the Oasis in Aug. It is an amazing room. You can google it and there is a youtube video. It is a copy of 1720 on the Allure so you can google that as well. My favorite part was the balcony. It was huge! I loved that you had an aft view and an ocean view. My favorite thing was to relax in the sun in the morning and afternoon. I loved hearing the music and watching all the action. The upstair's bed is amazing! The downstairs is just the couch and is not comfortable. The bathrooms are identical and contain the 2 heads on opposite ends and a rain shower head in the center with a single sink. If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer.
Still trying to convince DW that we should book this cabin. She's concerned about the lack of privacy. Another curious thing is that 1720 is currently available all summer '20, while other suites (royal loft, owners panoramic, and grand panoramic ) are not. Strange. Is RCL holding back on the others???

Thank you for the information. I hope it all goes well. I had heard about contacting special needs also. I wonder how long it would take you to get the food? May need to plan meals a day in advance. But what other choice do you have right?
Our DD has numerous food allergies. I would recommend NOT eating in a buffet. Although the food may be safe, cross contamination can be an issue. Eat in the MDR. Plan to eat at the same time every day. Prepare a menu for the next meal or two and discuss it with the head waiter. The head waiter should also be able to send the meal to a specialty restaurant, should you decide to eat elsewhere.

Thanks, all, for your comments. Sort of what I figured. DD has been on cruises (RCL and X) where there were a minimal amount of people her age, and she survived. She actually liked it, because of the extra attention she received.

Read Andrews reviews. He has links to them in his signature. He usually stays in 1720.
Who? Where do I find this link?

I have a question for you. We stayed in a loft suite on the Anthem. That suite faced the stern, so there was a beautiful view and plenty of privacy. Did you feel any lack of privacy in 1720? Was there noticeable noise from the public areas below?

There are organized children's programs during the summer on most itineraries but not during the rest of the year as luxury cruise lines tend to be mostly adults when school is in session.
We have been on Celebrity and NCL and do not feel that the children's programs on Regent meet the level that there are on these cruise lines. After all, Regent ships are small compared to Celebrity, NCL and definitely RCL and do not have room for slides into the pool and other activities that one would see on non-luxury cruise lines.
I understand about regent not having the slides and activities like X, NCL, and RCL. We just are concerned there will be no other children our DD'S age on the ship. She doesn't require much, but being the only kid on the ship may be a bit much for the week. We have been cruising in the upper suites on X and RCL, and are looking to try the next step up in luxury cruising. Thinking regent might be right for us.

Hopefully we can make your decision a bit easier. We took our first Celebrity cruise last September. We stayed in a Royal suite and enjoyed Luminae and Michaels Club but were not impressed with the food and service on the rest of the ship!I
Try to imagine the entire ship having the food and service that you experience in the suite only venues on Celebrity! That is Regent.
There are generally very few or no children on board except during the summer. This in and of itself changes the atmosphere
Would you know if there are organized children's programs like there are on Celebrity (and RCL)?

This thread is five years old:eek: Maybe the OP is ready to book that anniversary cruise!:p
I too, hate when people dredge up an old thread, but I need to settle a bet with my wife. Are there presidential suites on the Oasis? I say they were reconfigured (eliminated) years ago, but a web search still has them showing available only through a travel agent. Can someone give enlighten me? Also, there was mention of a "royal" suite. I believe there only remains a royal loft suite. Thanks for any info.

and were wondering if there is an equivalent to the Luminae on a X ship for suite guests on a RCCL ship?
As others said, Coastal Kitchen. However, for Service and food quality, I'd give the edge to Luminae

We're 3 days out and nothing from anyone on our cruise yet either! So intriguing!
We are 3 days out. Have put in a very generous bid weeks ago. Heard nothing yet. The anticipation is/was not worth it. Will never bid again.

I did not see it! A server was telling us about it and showed us pictures. She said she was standing on the back deck of the Windjammer at Sail Away and just leaving the harbor. She said others have seen this on various sail away days. The whales seem to like to follow the wake of the ship.
I would have loved to have seen one, but did not.
We've sailed out of Cape Liberty 6 times (4x on Summit, 2x on Anthem), each time in aft facing accommodations. Never saw a whale. Heading out again in Sept. We'll sure be on the lookout this time. It may purely be a chance of luck to see a whale.
-
We're doing a cruise to canada/new England in late September. From what I've researched, the whales are starting to head south by September.

Here's a TIP for Sail Away in NJ...... (told to us by a great crew member) Often, (not always), but often enough they look....if you go to the back of the ship especially the Windjammer outside deck, in the back, they will see whales follow them out in their wake. On the 18th when we sailed, she saw and took pictures of one directly behind the ship. I sure wish I'd known that was a possibility....
Where did you see the whale? In the harbor? Before passing under the vz? After the bridge?

They usually play in the Music Hall, but will sometimes play in Boleros when the Latin band is off.
The Royal Swedes play lots of Classic Rock.
Excellent. Will have to keep a lookout for them in Sept.

Also the house dance/rock band should be Royal Swedes. They are supposed to be back on the ship from September-April - also an excellent band.
Refresh my memory: Where (which venue) would the house dance/rock band perform? When? Do the Royal Swedes play songs from any particular group of bands?

Having never cruised Star Class, and being incredibly unlikely to ever do so, this might be a daft question, but are the genie services not covered by the auto-grats?
No, the Genie is not covered by auto-grats. However the question should be posed: "Is the Genie covered by the $$$ extra it costs to go from Sky to Star class?" Tip as you wish, but are tips approaching 500, 700, or 1K dollars warranted?

One quick question - who was the Maitre'd in Luminae? We had a fantastic gentleman, Charles, on our last trip in 2016.
Yuksel.

Do they have any brains at all?
Possibly. There is no outlet in the guest bath. It's so dark in there you can't use an electric shaver or hair dryer, so why put in an outlet. Very well planned!

I understand they've messed with the guest bath, can't remember whether the result was positive or negative.
Negative. The sink was changed. There are no soap dishes on the sink. There is no shelf in the shower to hold your soap or shampoo. There are only two lights in the bathroom. One in the shower, one midway between the door and the sink. VERY dark at the sink. So dark, you can't use the mirror.

10 days? I would wonder about the condition/quality of the food after so many days at sea. And heaven forbid they run out of liquor!
