  1. My family and I are on the Silhouette and arrive at Santorini on Aug 13th. That day there are three ships in port. What is the best tender/tour booking option, via Celebrity or private tour, which avoids the cable car, donkey and stairs on arrival? I called Celebrity today and asked this. The agent said to e-mail RCCL excursions to address to ask my question.

If you want to see Santorini, the only choices you have is to take one of three options to the top of the cliff were the town is, donkey, walk or cable car, no other ways believe me, if you don't go up to the town you are truly missing a wonderful opportunity, it is really a unique experience and should not be missed. If you don't want to experience the opportunities that traveling like this provides you, then my advice is to stay home.

  2. I've sailed them both within the past eight months, I've also sailed lots of cruises with both lines and like them both, so no biases with me. Hands down the Silhouette is the better choice. The layout of the Royal is very difficult for many passengers, especially because of no midship staircase, and less elevator space. The balconies are substantially smaller and very noticeable. The bathrooms are not as nice. The buffet area on the Royal is nice, but the layout creates more walking around. I found the food on both ships to be equal. The staff on both ships are very accommodating. The theater on the Royal is very under sized for the number of passengers, thereby having to hold three performances some nights. Their are only two aisles in the Royal theater, which I feel creates a safety hazard. Like on most ships you cannot exit against the outer walls of the theater, no aisles exist.

Having said all this, you can't go wrong with either choice, but my personal preference is the Silhouette.

  3. As a loyal celebrity cruiser I would love to know how people would compare Princess ,in particular Carribean Princess ,with the solstice ships? I would not normally consider changing but as we are in Florida at a time when the Celebrity ships are still in Europe ,we don't have a choice. Have just been reading the member reviews on the Princess ship and am not filled with confidence to book it! Has anyone been on both? How would you compare them?

If you enjoy Celebrity, you will equally like Princess. The main difference will be the age of the ship, but the Carribean has just been in dry dock and should be in good shape. We have done a dozen cruises on each line including two on the Carribean and find them very comparable in every way.

  4. Apparently, at Celebrity, is nearly impossible.

There is a word spelled incorrectly on the webpage advertising the President's Cruise. It's been pointed out to Celebrity numerous times. It never changes.

A misspelled word isn't as important as the error on the price of drinks offered in the packages, I know, but it's a symptom of the systemic problem Celebrity has with communication.

If that's the way you feel, then I suggest you take another cruise line. I am so tired of all the complainers, why don't you just enjoy life as it is, apparently with all the cruises you have taken, you haven't had it so bad.

  5. My Wife is having surgery on Tuesday and they are telling her up to 12 weeks to recover. She has been trying to tough it out until after our cruise in late January but it has become just tooo painful, Well as (un)luck would have it the 12th week is exactly the same week as our cruise... I am just wondering if anyone out there has dealt with this type of surgery and what was your recovery time experience? Do you think she can go on this trip?

My wife has had it twice, the last time was just six weeks before the cruise and she had no problem and a wonderful cruise. The R&R will be perfect for her. The key forvsucess is not to overdue it.

I wouldn't hesitate in taking the 10:40 flight. I have gone out of Port Everglades about twice a year for the past 7-8 years and every time but one we drove home to Alabama the same day. The latest we have got on the turnpike is 8:30 and the one time we flew we had a 9:30 a.m. And actually got moved up to the 8:00. The secret is self walk off, if you get in line early, you can be off and out of the terminal in less than half an hour. If you can't walk off, then you are at the mercy of many others and would agree with those who say to take the later flight.
  7. The terminal were the Allure docks is not all that far from the Silhouette, however it's too far to have a porter take the luggage. It will be very congested in the area were Silhouette docks, as two or three other ships will be in the same area. Suggest you look at the map for the port to get a better perspective.

  8. I am sailing on Sillouette on Jan.19th and wondered if anybody knows which terminal at Port Everglades the ship leaves from? I am thinking of parking at the port but don't want to walk a long distance with my luggage. :)

It will be Pier 24/25, they utilize the two due to the small size of each terminal. Not an ideal situation, but it is what it is, therefore you will have to use the mid-port parking garage. Best to drop off luggage, then park and walk back to terminal, not a long distance.

  9. Hey pal, can't believe you are still raving on about this matter again today, you obviously have nothing better to do on Thanksgiving day. You should have been on a Celebrity cruise earning points towards Elite, instead of continuing to complain.

Did you even try and contact the Captains club, they are very accommodating if you treat them like you would like to be treated, but I doubt you did, you probably just enjoy bitching. I just hope I never have the bad luck of running into someone like you on one of my future cruises, that would be the only thing that could ruin it. Here's to hoping you come back to reality and enjoy what really matters in life, and it's not bitching about Celebrity status.

  10. No, not elite yet, and it really doesn't matter. You just don't get it, too focused on $$$$ instead of just enjoying the pleasures of life that you are fortunate enough to have. I feel sorry for you, hope you have a nice Thanksgiving !

  11. Wow, you have a much bigger problem than making it to elite on Celebrity. You obviously don't count your blessings and just be pleased that you are able to go on a cruise. Life Has more important values than perks and dollars. Suggest you refocus and just be happy that you can take a cruise.
